Patchwork Christmas Card

Yes, we still have a few months to go before Christmas arrives but it’s never to early to start planning!  Today, I’m sharing a Patchwork Christmas card.  Using the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch,  a variety of coordinating papers from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper are cut.  The Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper has many patterns in traditional Christmas colors so it’s perfect for creating a patchwork card.  The sentiment for the card is chosen from the Tag Buffet Photopolymer Stamp Set.

Patchwork Christmas Card

Card Materials & Details:
  • Card base: Real Red cardstock
  • Layer 1: Mossy Meadow cardstock (5-1/4″ x 4″)
  • Punch eight (8) coordinating pieces of the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.
  • Randomly arrange the postage stamp pieces onto the Mossy Meadow cardstock layer allowing some to overlap the edges. After adhering in place, trim the edges of the
postage stamps that overlap. NOTE: When arranging the pieces, you will have an open space in the card center – it will be covered by the sentiment label.  Also, pay attention and only add adhesive to the portion of the stamp that will be on the Mossy Meadow layer (ask me why?! LOL)
  • Use strong adhesive and attach the postage stamp layer to the card base.
  • Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Cut shape using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
  • With Stampin’ Seal, attach the sentiment piece to a Real Red label cut using the next larger size Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
  • Attach the label to the card front covering the open space area in the card center.  To add lift, attach using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Embellish around the sentiment with red rhinestone jewels.

The Patchwork Christmas Card design is great to use if you’re making multiple cards.  Select your favorite coordinating Designer Series Papers and start punching!  By varying the placement and paper patterns of the postage shapes,  you can create cards that differ slightly.  Yet, you’re using the same materials for all of the cards.  Select your favorite holiday sentiments to add even more variety.  The full list of items used for today’s card is listed at the bottom of the post.

Center Step Peony Card

As noted in previous posts, one of my favorite product suites in the Annual Catalog is the Peony Garden Suite.  So when celebrating my mother’s birthday in June, the choice was easy.   The suite was ideal for decorating a  center step peony card to mark the milestone occasion.  Plus, the card fit perfectly in a Whisper White medium envelope. Since the celebrating continued for several weeks, the center step peony card was perfect for her to keep it on display!

Peony Garden Center Step Card

Details:
  • The card base starts with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock.  For cutting and scoring to create the center step card base, I followed this video by Wendy Cranford.  She uses a wider card but the 1″ cuts on each side of the cardstock and the scoring lines remain the same.
  • To cover the front card panels, select coordinating pages from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  Cut the following sizes: center panel (4-3/8″ x 2-1/8″), 2 side panels (7/8″ x 4-3/8″) , and bottom panel (4-1/4″ x 7/8″).
  • The sentiment on the bottom panel is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set.  Since the phrase “Happy Birthday” is combined on one stamp, use a post-it mask on the word you do not want to stamp with the Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Next, attach a piece of Gray Granite cardstock to an Adhesive Foam Sheet and cut with the Playful Alphabet Dies.  Add to the center of the panel between the sentiment phrase.
  • Now, attach the panels to the card front using Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • Use the Peony Dies to cut the flower pieces from Petal Pink cardstock.  Cut the stamen from a scrap of Basic Black cardstock.  Sponge along the edges of the flower pieces with Petal Pink Classic Ink and assemble the peony.
  • With Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamp the large stemmed peony onto Whisper White cardstock.  Cut with the coordinating Peony Die.  Color the stem using Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Note: you do not need to color the flower since you’ll cover it with the die cut peony flower.  Attach to the center panel using Foam Adhesive Strips.
  • Add the peony flower to the flower stem using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive covering the peony flower on the stem.
  • Embellish around the flower with Clear Epoxy Droplets and add a small 1/4″ Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon bow.

There are many variations for creating center step cards.  Just vary the center step width to create a wider card.  Have fun creating a center step card!

Triple Panel Floral Card

The project today is a triple panel floral card.  When I need to make multiple cards of one design, I like to use panels of repeat designs.  The repeat designs can either be stamped images or designer series paper images.  So for this card, the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper provides the repeat floral design.  Notice the texture?  Each of the panels is texture embossed using the Subtle 3D embossing folder.
Triple Panel Floral Card

Recreating the card:
  • Create a card base using Poppy Parade cardstock cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
  • Cut 3 strips of Just Jade cardstock: 4″ x 1-11/16″.
  • Cut 3 strips of the Flowers for Everything Designer Series Paper: 3-7/8″ x 1-9/16″.
  • Attach the designer series paper to the Just Jade cardstock strips.  Then, texture embellish using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Evenly space the layered strips onto the card base front and attach using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Meant to Be Stamp Set onto a 2-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then cut using the Stitched Shapes Dies (2nd smallest oval).
  • Using the 2nd largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies, cut a 3-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Just Jade cardstock.  Next, add the sentiment label using Stampin’ Seal.
  • Add the layered sentiment label to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Embellish with the Crushed Curry resin dots from the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots.  Then add a Just Jade Ribbon bow.

You can use the triple panel card design for portrait or landscape cards.  Plus, adjusting your sentiment label and adding a few more embellishments enables you many design possibilities.

Gilded Autumn Suite

In my last post, photos of the Gilded Autumn Suite from the August – December Mini Catalog were shared.  So for today’s post, I am sharing one of the cards I have made using products from the suite.  There’s much to like in this suite but the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper is absolutely gorgeous!  The elegant designs in earthy colors and papers with copper and gold foil make it difficult to decide which side of the paper you want to use.  Even better, is that some of the images can be cut using the Autumn Punch Pack.  Combine the designer series paper with the Beautiful Autumn Bundle, add the Acorn Trinkets and the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack and you’ve got lots to use for designing Fall card and projects.

For my project, I am using three designs from the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper.  Notice how well the different patterns blend together? The Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso combine to provide a beautiful color scheme.

Gilded Autumn

Recreating the card:
  • Card base is Cajun Craze cut 5-1/2″ x 11″, scored at 4-1/4″ and folded.
  • The Gilded Autumn Designer Series layers are: 5-1/4″ x 4″, 5-1/4″ x 1-1/4″ and 2″ x 3-1/2″.  Add the layers to the card base using Stampin’ Seal.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set onto a 3/4″ x 3″ strip of Very Vanilla cardstock using Cajun Craze Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Cut decorate ends on the sentiment label using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.
  • On a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, stamp two oak leaves using Mint Macaron Classic Stampin’ Pad and one maple leaf using Cajun Craze Classic Stampin’ Pad.  TIP: when stamping the interior of each leaf, stamp off one time onto a scrap of paper before stamping inside the outline image.
  • After stamping the leaves, use the coordinating punches from the Autumn Punch Pack to cut.
  • Add the label to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals (refer to photo for placement).
  • Complete by embellishing with the cut leaves and adding a small bow tied using the Copper Metallic Ribbon from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack.
  • Of course, don’t forget to embellish the envelope and the card interior!

For the next step, add the beautiful Gilded Autumn Suite of products to your “must have” order list for creating Fall projects.  You can select the entire product suite or individual products under the Project Materials section below.

Nothing's Better Than

Card Details:
  • The card base uses the Misty Moonlight cardstock (4-1/4″ x 11″, scored & folded at 5-1/2″).
  • Next, add Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper (5-1/4″ x 4″) to the card base.
  • With a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the words: Coffee, Cookies, Chocolate and Cocktails using Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin’ Pad.  TIP: use the Stamparatus to align and space the words.  Be sure to leave enough space for the images beside the word. Add to the Artistry Blooms layer using Stampin’ Seal.
  • Using scrap pieces of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the coffee cup, the cookie, the chocolate and the cocktail.
    • For the coffee cup, stamp the cup outline using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. For the cup interior, use the Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ Pad but stamp off onto a scrap of paper before stamping the cup interior.
    • Stamp the cookie and the chocolate outline using Soft Suede Classic Ink Pad and again, stamp off with the ink for the solid interior stamps.
    • For the cocktail glass outline, use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  And for the beverage in the glass, use Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ Pad and stamp off twice before stamping in the cocktail glass outline.  Use Petal Pink Light Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the umbrella and Daffodil Delight Light Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the lemon slice.
  • With the coordinating Love You More Than dies, cut the stamped coffee cup, cookie, chocolate and cocktail.  Add to the card using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • For the sentiment phrases, cut strips of Granny Apple Green cardstock (5/8″ x 1-5/8″  and 5/8″ x 1-7/8″).  Stamp the phrases onto the strips using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad and to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • To complete the interior, use a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then, stamp the phrase using the Tuxedo Black and repeat the process from above for the cocktail glass.

Peony Gift Box

A friend recently had a birthday and to celebrate, I sent her a small gift. If you receive my newsletter, you’ll recall the peony birthday card along with instructions for creating the card.  As promised, I am sharing the coordinating Peony Gift Box that includes the inspiration for both the box and the birthday card.  One of my go-to places for small personal gifts is Bath & Body Works.  So after receiving an email showcasing a selection of peony bath gel and lotions, an order was quickly placed.  The items coordinate perfectly with products from the Peony Garden Suite Collection.

Peony Garden Gift Box

Project Details:

As you see in the photo, I crafted a box from a 12″ x 12″ Night of Navy cardstock (from the Neutrals 12″ x 12″ cardstock pack) cut to size for the box bottom plus it’s matches the blue on the Bath & Body Works products.  For the box top, a piece of the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper is cut to fit the box bottom.  For creating boxes, I use the instructions provided by Donna Griffith in her You Tube video, How to Make Your Own Box.  Her detailed instructions make it easy to create boxes sized specifically for a project.

After creating the box, use the Peony Dies to cut Blushing Bride cardstock for the flower.  Next, sponge each of the pieces for the flower using Melon Mambo Classic Stampin’ Pad before assembling.  Tip: When sponging, use a swiping motion with the sponge to drag the ink across the layer.  Now, assemble the peony.  And to create dimension between the peony layers, tuck Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals between the cardstock layers.  Finish the flower by adding the stamen using a mini glue dot.  The stamen is die cut from a scrap of Bumblebee cardstock.  Notice how the Stampin’ Up! colors match the peony colors on the lotion and gel containers perfectly?  For the leaves, cut 3 sets using the Peony Dies.  Garden Green cardstock forms the main leaf body and contrasting leaf edges use Old Olive cardstock.

Finishing the Peony Gift Box top:

Next, create a base for the peony label by cutting a piece of Night of Navy cardstock using the Tasteful Labels Dies.  Attach a Gold Foil circle cut with the 2-1/4″ circle punch to the Night of Navy label.  Finish by arranging the leaves and adding the peony to the label using Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Ribbon is wrapped around the center of the box lid and glued inside the flaps.  The Night of Navy ribbon on the project is retired and no longer available but you can substitute a Whisper White Ribbon or color a ribbon with Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends.  Add the Peony Label to the box using a strong adhesive such as Stampin’ Seal+.  Complete by adding a bow just below the peony on the label.  Add to the Night of Navy box bottom and your gift box is complete!

Here are additional views of the box:Peony Gift Box

It’s so much fun when you find products that coordinate with Stampin’ Up! stamps and papers!  Creative ideas abound!

Of course, the box coordinates also with the card…
