Little Treats Meets Banner Year

Happy Friday!  As promised, today I’m sharing the project details from Wednesday evening’s Facebook Live.  The bundles, Little Treats meets Banner Year, combine to create adorable treat holders.  First, thank you to those that watched the presentation!  Despite a few technical glitches, I felt it important to continue and demonstrated the treat boxes below.  Second and good news, I learned how to correct the glitch.  As a result, going forward, my Facebook Lives should be in landscape position.  It’s a learning process and important to not give up but keep trying.  Right?!

Now, on to the projects.  As mentioned in the demonstration, I love making treat holders and the Little Treats Bundle is great for doing so.  The Little Treat Box Dies from the bundle creates an ideal sized treat box when you want to give “a little something”.  Even better, use the Banner Year Bundle and the creative possibilities grow exponentially.  So, what will fit in the treat boxes? In addition to small candies or packages of small cookies, the Bath & Body Works small hand sanitizers fit perfectly.  In this post, I’m sharing 6 different designs combining the two bundles but have other ideas that I’ll share later.  For the projects, the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper provides a wide variety of plaid color combinations making it a perfect selection for making the treat boxes.

Treat Holder

Assembly & Tips:
  • This is a great project for using your scrap cardstock!  Though I’m providing dimensions, in most cases, just grab small pieces from your scrap pile.
  • Treat boxes can be left open or select coordinating ribbons to tie closed.

For the first step, use the Little Treat Box Die to cut the 6″ x 6″ Plaid Designer Series. Then, assemble the treat boxes.  If desired, add adhesive to the front and back panels to hold the panels fixed against the inside box.

  • Spider Halloween Tag

From a 1″ x 1″ scrap of Basic Black cardstock, use the spider die from the Little Treat Box Dies to cut a spider.  After cutting the spider, use Clear Wink of Stella to add shimmer to the spider body and add two small Basic Rhinestone Jewels for the eyes.  On a 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the Happy, Happy Halloween sentiment from the Little Treats stamp set using Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Then, stamp the web from the Banner Year Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad on the upper corner.  Use the 1-1/2″ circle punch to cut.  Use the stitched and scalloped circle die from the Little Treat Box Dies to cut from a 2″ x 2″ piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  Adhere the stamped sentiment circle to the Daffodil Delight scalloped circle and add the spider using a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.  Add to the front of the treat box using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Bat Boo Halloween Tag

Stamp BOO!  (from the Banner Year Stamp Set) using Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut using the 1-1/2″ circle punch.  Above the word BOO, stamp the Bat (Banner Year Stamp Set) using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  Stamp another bat onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut.  Layer atop the stamped bat on the Whisper White using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Attach to a Scalloped Circle (Little Treat Box Dies) cut from Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

  • Happy Fall Y’all Tag

Cut each end of a 1″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Banners Pick A Punch.  After punching the ends, stamp multiple leaves on the right side using Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pad – TIP: after inking stamp – “stamp off” onto a scrap piece of paper 2 times before stamping onto the tag.  NOTE:  All stamps for are from the Banner Year Stamp Set.  Stamp the pumpkin using the Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pad onto the left side of the tag and also onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp the pumpkin stem and the Happy Fall Y’all using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink Pad.  Fussy cut the extra pumpkin and add atop the pumpkin on the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Happy Thanksgiving Tag

Create the banner tag by cutting a one end of a 1/2″ x 3″ strip of Whisper White cardstock using the Banners Pick A Punch.  Using the Happy Thanksgiving stamp from the Banner Year Stamp Set, stamp the sentiment using Pretty Peacock Classic Stampin’ Pad close to the banner end.   Ink the acorn stamp using Cinnamon Cider. Then, stamp off onto a scrap of paper before stamping beside the sentiment.  Cut a 6″ piece of In-Color Bumblebee Ribbon and form a loop.  Attach the ribbon loop to the treat box and add the banner tag using dimensionals.

  • Be Merry Tag

Create banners: Real Red cardstock (3″ x 1″) and Whisper White cardstock (2-3/4″ x 3/4″).  Stamp “be merry” onto the Whisper White tag using Real Red Classic Ink Pad.  Stamp the Holly using Shaded Spruce Classic Ink Pad.  For the holly berries, stamp using Real Red and then add Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels atop the stamped berries.  Layer the stamped tag onto the Real Red cardstock tag and attach to treat box using dimensionals.

  • HO HO HO Tag

From the Little Treats Stamp Set, stamp HO HO HO Merry Christmas using Real Red Classic Ink Pad onto a 1″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Next, cut into the tag shape using the die from the Little Treat Box Dies.  Now stamp the Santa Hat, also from the LIttle Treats Stamp Set, using Real Red onto a 1-1/4″ x 1-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut using the coordinating die. Add Clear Wink of Stella to the “fur” rim and “pompom” of the hat.  Attach hat to the corner of the sentiment tag using a Glue Dot.  To highlight the tag, create a belly band by wrapping a 1-1/4″ x 6″ piece of Basic Black cardstock around the assembled treat box.  Run a bone folder along each corner to help crease and form the band.  To seal the belly band,  use a strong adhesive such Stampin’ Seal+ or Tear & Tape.   Add the sentiment tag to the belly band using dimensionals.

I had lots of fun creating the Little Treat Boxes and even more fun, creating a variety of tags for each.  As noted earlier, there are possibilities galore when combining the Little Treats and the Banner Year Bundles.  So, don’t delay and order these bundles so you can start creating fun treat boxes to have for the upcoming seasonal events.  And one last thing, if you want to watch the video click here (remember, it was a learning process! forward thru the first two minutes where I’m attempting to adjust the view.  And no, I won’t be offended if you laugh!)

Stitched Leaves

Hope you’re enjoying your week.  My schedule seems to be jam packed but it’s all good.  This past weekend, Stampin’ Up! hosted an online conference which I had the opportunity to attend.  Great speakers, breakout sessions and even, networking ZOOM meetings.  All of the conference was fantastic.  The great thing about an online conference is the ability to watch the recordings of segments that ran concurrent.  So, I am listening to the other breakout sessions and replaying sessions so that I can absorb the information .  It will take me several days to get through all of the sessions.  Of course, we’re experiencing heat and humidity so after my early morning walks, I find all opportunities to stay indoors.  Oh, how I’m looking forward to the arrival of crisp, cool autumn temperatures!  Now, on to details of the Stitched Leaves card.

In keeping with my wishes for autumn to arrive soon, today’s card is another autumn themed card.  The Stitched Leaves Dies are perfect for cutting beautiful leaves.  The stitching adds a wonderful textural element.  And yes, I’m using one of my favorite papers from the Mini Catalog – the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Stitched Leaves

 Materials:

  • Early Espresso card base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”
  • Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper: background layer: 4” x 5-1/4”; coordinating strip: 5-1/4” x 1-1/2”
  • Very Vanilla cardstock: 2” x 1/2” for label; 5” x 4-1/4” for interior
  • Cajun Craze cardstock: scrap for leaf
  • Brushed Metallic Cardstock: 3” x 3”
  • Stamp Set: Love of Leaves
  • Inks: Early Espresso for sentiment, Mint Macaron & Cajun Craze to sponge leaves (opt)
  • Dies: Stitched Leaves
  • Ribbon: Vanilla from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack
Card Assembly:
  1. Add the background layer of Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper (5-1/4″ x 4″)  to the Early Espresso card base.
  2. Stamp the sentiment onto the Very Vanilla cardstock strip (2-1/2″ x 1/2″). Attach to the back of a 5-1/4” x 1-1/2” Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper strip using a glue dot.  Then, add the strip to the card.
  3. Optional: Sponge the edges of the Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze leaves with the coordinating ink pads.
  4. Position leaves as desired to card front and attach using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Tie a bow with the Vanilla ribbon and add to the stems of the leaves.

Sneak Peek

Here’s my bonus project to coordinate with my September 3D tutorial project.  It’s a “spidery” Halloween card featuring the Magic in this Night Suite.

Halloween Card

Card Details:
  • Create a card base using Blackberry Bliss cardstock (5-1/2″ x 11″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″).
  • Next, cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Texture emboss using the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder.  After embossing, use a light touch to apply Clear Wink of Stella across the web.
  • Cut two pieces of the 1-1/2″ Metallic Mesh Ribbon approximately 6-1/2″.  Pull and stretch the ribbon to slightly widen.  Then, wrap one of the pieces across the center of the Basic Black layer and adhere.  With the other piece of ribbon, tie around the ribbon attached and wrap to the back of the card.  Use Stampin’ Seal to adhere.  See photo below –
  • Add the “web” layer to the card base using Stampin’ Seal adhesive.
  • Using the labels dies in the Halloween Magic Dies, cut a piece of the Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper (4-1/2″ x 3″).  NOTE: Place the smaller die inside of the larger die to cut a frame to use on the card interior.
  • Stamp Happy Halloween from the Hallows Magic Night Stamp Set onto a 3/4″ x 3-1/4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock using Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Add to the center of the small label using Stampin’ Seal and attach to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp one large spider and two small spiders from the Hallows Night Magic Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Cut the large spider with the coordinating die from the Halloween Magic Dies and fussy cut the two small spiders.  Add Iridescent Pearls to each of the spider bodies.
  • To complete the card, add the spiders to the card front.  Note: use Glue Dots for the 2 small spiders and a Stampin’ Dimensional for the large spider.
  • Card Interior:

The Magic In This Night Suite offers lots of creative options for Halloween projects.  If you’re a fan of Halloween, you’ll want to add the suite to your craft supplies.

Patchwork Christmas Card

Yes, we still have a few months to go before Christmas arrives but it’s never to early to start planning!  Today, I’m sharing a Patchwork Christmas card.  Using the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch,  a variety of coordinating papers from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper are cut.  The Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper has many patterns in traditional Christmas colors so it’s perfect for creating a patchwork card.  The sentiment for the card is chosen from the Tag Buffet Photopolymer Stamp Set.

Patchwork Christmas Card

Card Materials & Details:
  • Card base: Real Red cardstock
  • Layer 1: Mossy Meadow cardstock (5-1/4″ x 4″)
  • Punch eight (8) coordinating pieces of the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.
  • Randomly arrange the postage stamp pieces onto the Mossy Meadow cardstock layer allowing some to overlap the edges. After adhering in place, trim the edges of the
postage stamps that overlap. NOTE: When arranging the pieces, you will have an open space in the card center – it will be covered by the sentiment label.  Also, pay attention and only add adhesive to the portion of the stamp that will be on the Mossy Meadow layer (ask me why?! LOL)
  • Use strong adhesive and attach the postage stamp layer to the card base.
  • Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Cut shape using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
  • With Stampin’ Seal, attach the sentiment piece to a Real Red label cut using the next larger size Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
  • Attach the label to the card front covering the open space area in the card center.  To add lift, attach using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Embellish around the sentiment with red rhinestone jewels.

The Patchwork Christmas Card design is great to use if you’re making multiple cards.  Select your favorite coordinating Designer Series Papers and start punching!  By varying the placement and paper patterns of the postage shapes,  you can create cards that differ slightly.  Yet, you’re using the same materials for all of the cards.  Select your favorite holiday sentiments to add even more variety.  The full list of items used for today’s card is listed at the bottom of the post.

Center Step Peony Card

As noted in previous posts, one of my favorite product suites in the Annual Catalog is the Peony Garden Suite.  So when celebrating my mother’s birthday in June, the choice was easy.   The suite was ideal for decorating a  center step peony card to mark the milestone occasion.  Plus, the card fit perfectly in a Whisper White medium envelope. Since the celebrating continued for several weeks, the center step peony card was perfect for her to keep it on display!

Peony Garden Center Step Card

Details:
  • The card base starts with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock.  For cutting and scoring to create the center step card base, I followed this video by Wendy Cranford.  She uses a wider card but the 1″ cuts on each side of the cardstock and the scoring lines remain the same.
  • To cover the front card panels, select coordinating pages from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  Cut the following sizes: center panel (4-3/8″ x 2-1/8″), 2 side panels (7/8″ x 4-3/8″) , and bottom panel (4-1/4″ x 7/8″).
  • The sentiment on the bottom panel is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set.  Since the phrase “Happy Birthday” is combined on one stamp, use a post-it mask on the word you do not want to stamp with the Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Next, attach a piece of Gray Granite cardstock to an Adhesive Foam Sheet and cut with the Playful Alphabet Dies.  Add to the center of the panel between the sentiment phrase.
  • Now, attach the panels to the card front using Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • Use the Peony Dies to cut the flower pieces from Petal Pink cardstock.  Cut the stamen from a scrap of Basic Black cardstock.  Sponge along the edges of the flower pieces with Petal Pink Classic Ink and assemble the peony.
  • With Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamp the large stemmed peony onto Whisper White cardstock.  Cut with the coordinating Peony Die.  Color the stem using Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Note: you do not need to color the flower since you’ll cover it with the die cut peony flower.  Attach to the center panel using Foam Adhesive Strips.
  • Add the peony flower to the flower stem using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive covering the peony flower on the stem.
  • Embellish around the flower with Clear Epoxy Droplets and add a small 1/4″ Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon bow.

There are many variations for creating center step cards.  Just vary the center step width to create a wider card.  Have fun creating a center step card!

Triple Panel Floral Card

The project today is a triple panel floral card.  When I need to make multiple cards of one design, I like to use panels of repeat designs.  The repeat designs can either be stamped images or designer series paper images.  So for this card, the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper provides the repeat floral design.  Notice the texture?  Each of the panels is texture embossed using the Subtle 3D embossing folder.
Triple Panel Floral Card

Recreating the card:
  • Create a card base using Poppy Parade cardstock cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
  • Cut 3 strips of Just Jade cardstock: 4″ x 1-11/16″.
  • Cut 3 strips of the Flowers for Everything Designer Series Paper: 3-7/8″ x 1-9/16″.
  • Attach the designer series paper to the Just Jade cardstock strips.  Then, texture embellish using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Evenly space the layered strips onto the card base front and attach using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Meant to Be Stamp Set onto a 2-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then cut using the Stitched Shapes Dies (2nd smallest oval).
  • Using the 2nd largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies, cut a 3-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Just Jade cardstock.  Next, add the sentiment label using Stampin’ Seal.
  • Add the layered sentiment label to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Embellish with the Crushed Curry resin dots from the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots.  Then add a Just Jade Ribbon bow.

You can use the triple panel card design for portrait or landscape cards.  Plus, adjusting your sentiment label and adding a few more embellishments enables you many design possibilities.
