It’s always fun to find alternate folds to use for card designs. Today’s design is a side fold shared by Patty Bennett during a team stamping event. So, I added the fold to my “must create” fun fold list. Using the So Many Snowflake Dies, multiple snowflakes are cut and layered to embellish the Snowflake Side Fold Card. The Winter Snow Embossing Folder creates the perfect background for the layered snowflakes.
Materials:
Snowflake Wishes Bundle
Balmy Blue cardstock: card base: 4-1/4” x 11”, score at 5-1/2” & 6-3/4”; scraps for cutting snowflakes
Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper: 1” x 4”
Whisper White cardstock: 4” x 4” (2 pieces – for front & interior)’ 1” x 3-1/2” for sentiment
Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper – for large, medium & small snowflake
Winter Snow Embossing Folder
Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad
Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems
Snowflake Splendor ¼” ribbon
Stampin’ Seal+ Adhesive
Glue Dots
Stampin’ Dimensionals
Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
Optional: Tag Punch to cut notch for ribbon
Directions for Assembly:
Fold Balmy Blue card base along fold lines. Use adhesive to seal the card front to the card back in the area between the score lines (5-1/2” to 6-3/4”).
Add the strip of designer series paper to the card front (sealed section).
Texture emboss one of the 4” x 4” Whisper White cardstock pieces. Attach to the card front.
Snowflakes: use the snowflake dies to cut a large, medium and small snowflake from the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper and the Balmy Blue cardstock. After die cutting snowflakes, layer the cardstock pieces atop the glimmer paper pieces attaching with glue dots.
Stamp sentiment onto strip of Whisper White cardstock using the Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad.
Position snowflakes to the card front and attach using glue dots.
Add sentiment strip using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Embellish the center of each snowflake with a Blue Adhesive-Backed Gem.
Finish the card by wrapping a ribbon around the left side of card, overlapping ends on front of the card. Tie a small bow using the ribbon and attaching where the ribbon overlaps on the card front. TIP: to hold ribbon in place, use tag punch (or another punch) to cut a small notch wide enough to create a track for the ribbon
Be sure to give the side fold card design a try! And add the Snowflake Wishes Bundle to your order, it’s a great set for winter themed cards.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing a variety of Christmas card designs. This Poinsettia Petals Christmas card is one of my favorite designs. To cut the flowers petals, the Poinsettia Dies cut the Red Velvet Paper Pack creating a gorgeous poinsettia flower. For an elegant card base, the Wonder of the Season Memories & More cards with matching envelopes work perfectly. For added elegance, the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper and the Beaded Pearls embellishment are used. And for extra glam, the sentiment is heat embossed using Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Below the photo, you’ll find tips for creating the card along with a list of project materials.
Materials:
Poinsettia Petals Bundle
Wonder of the Season Memories & More Cards with Envelopes
Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper (3” x 4”)
Red Velvet Paper Pack
Garden Green Cardstock & Garden Green Classic Ink Pad
Silver Foil Sheet
Whisper White Cardstock
Versamark Pad
Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder
Beaded Pearls
5/8” Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon
Adhesive Sheets (3” x 4”)
Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
Glue Dots
Paper Snips
Sponge Dauber
Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
Heat Tool
Directions:
Using the Poinsettia Dies, cut the following:
from the Red Velvet Paper Pack
one large poinsettia layer
one medium poinsettia layer
one small poinsettia layer
from Garden Green cardstock
cut 3 leaves
from Silver Foil Sheet
cut 3 berry fronds
Attach the 3″ x 4″ adhesive sheet to the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper. Then, attach to the card base front being sure to center inside the red frame on the card. (TIP: use adhesive sheets with vellum style paper to attach without the adhesive showing)
Assemble and layer the poinsettia (large, medium, small flower) using glue dots and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the layers. TIP: place the mini dimensionals under the layers of poinsettia petals for added dimension to the flower.
Use the Garden Green Classic Ink Pad to sponge edges of leaves..
Attach leaves and silver fronds behind the poinsettia using glue dots.
Tuck strips of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon behind the leaves & fronds with glue dots.
Use mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the flower to the left side of card front atop the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.
Stamp sentiment using Versamark onto Whisper White cardstock, top with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set. Let cool slightly, then trim the paper around the sentiment using paper snips. Attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
You’ll definitely see more creations from me using the Red Velvet Paper Pack! Cutting the velvet paper with embossing style dies creates added dimension. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a day-long FB event hosted by another demonstrator. It’s always fun to attend events to learn new techniques and gather ideas for paper crafting. And though it was a virtual event, we were still able to share and create with one another. During the event, the host posted a variety of challenges to engage attendees. One was a color challenge project – we were to select 3 or 4 colors from the colors provided to create our project. The list of colors were Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana. Since it was a challenge, rules included no CASE-ing of a project – only use for inspiration. Plus, it had to be a new project and not one previously shared. We had 30 minutes to work on our color challenge project before the next presentation so I had to work quickly!
So what colors did I select for my project? I chose a color combination of Basic Black, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green. Since Christmas projects are on my agenda for the next several weeks, I wanted to create a card in non-traditional holiday colors. The Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder and the Pine Woods Dies work together perfectly for a quick card design.
Card Details:
Card base: 4-1/4″ x 11″ Granny Apple Green cardstock, scored at 5-1/2″ and folded. Note: card is a side opening card.
Layer one: Basic Black cardstock – 5-1/4″ x 4″. Attach to card base with Stampin’ Seal+ or Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
Layer two: Coastal Cabana cardstock – 5″ x 3-3/4″. Texture emboss using the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder. Then using a sponge dauber, dab the raised evergreen trees with Frost White Shimmer Paint. Allow to dry for a few minutes before attaching to the Basic Black cardstock layer.
Select pine tree die and use to cut the design from the Rainbow Glimmer Paper using the portion with the Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green colors. With paper snips, cut and remove the tree trunk to create an evergreen tree.
Cut a 3-1/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock and a 2-3-4″ x 1-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. Stamp the sentiment using Coastal Cabana Classic Ink Pad onto the Whisper White label. TIP: position the sentiment so that there is area to overlap the tree onto the label. Happy Holidays is from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set. Layer the two labels.
Position the tree overlapping the label and attach with adhesive. Next, add Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the label and to the tree branches, cutting as needed, then attach to the card front.
Complete by embellishing the sentiment with Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
It was lots of fun to participate in the color challenge! Which color combination would you select? Comment and let me know!

In a previous post, I shared my card design for a recent Shoebox Swap that I attended. Today, one of the cards from another card maker is being highlighted. It is a poinsettia crisscross pocket card and absolutely gorgeous! Linda Edwards, at Crafty Heron Designs, prepared the materials so each attendee could create the card. Not only did Linda present this card design but she also hosted the event. It was a delightful day and all in attendance had a wonderful time.
Isn’t the card beautiful?
It was simple to cut the poinsettia flower from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Poinsettia Dies. I just love it when images from designer series papers have dies that coordinate! To showcase the poinsettia, the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper provides the perfect base. The crisscross card is cut 1/4″ smaller and mounted onto a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock. The combination of Whisper White and Very Vanilla makes an elegant card. Notice how one side of the crisscross is topped with the designer series paper and the other is texture embossed. This adds an extra WOW element. For the sentiment card, stamp with Versamark and heat emboss using Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then, layer atop a piece of gold foil paper. To create a pull for the card interior, punch a slit using the Label Me Fancy Punch and thread ribbon though slit.

Today’s card, a gift wrapped Christmas card, is the card design I chose for a recent Shoebox Swap cardmaking event. With a Shoebox Swap, the goal is to make kits for each participant for reproducing the card design. Place the cardmaking materials in a shoebox and participants recreate the project from each shoebox. It’s lots of fun and a great way to make a variety of cards. The Gift Wrapped Bundle along with the Beautiful Boughs Dies creates an easy to replicate card.
Card Materials:
Card base: Real Red cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″ for side fold card
Whisper White cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ for texture embossed layer; 3/4″ x 3″ for sentiment and 3″ x 3″ for bow
Tis The Season Designer Series Paper: 5-1/4″ x 1-1/4″; 4″ x 1-1/4″
Garden Green cardstock: 3″ x 5″ (die cut 2 of the medium boughs from the Beautiful Bough Dies)
Gold Foil Paper: 1-1/2″ x 3″ (die cut 2 pinecones using small pinecone die from Beautiful Bough Dies)
Gift Wrapped Bundle
Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder (or other embossing folder of you choice)
Beautiful Boughs Dies
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Stampin’ Blends Markers: Flirty Flamingo, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, & Color Lifter
Details:
With the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder, texture emboss the Whisper White layer. Attach the embossed layer to the Real Red card base using a strong adhesive. Next, add the strips of Tis the Season Designer Series Paper with the vertical strip approximately 1″ in from the left side on the Whisper White layer and the horizontal strip approximately 1-1/4″ from the top of the layer. Then, select the bow stamp from the Gift Wrapped Stamp Set and stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto the 3″ square of Whisper White cardstock. Color using the following Stampin’ Blends Markers: Dark Flirty Flamingo, Dark Cherry Cobbler, Light & Dark Real Red. Tip: use the Color Lifter and Dark Flirty Flamingo to create highlights on the bow. After coloring, use the Gift Bow Builder Punch to cut the bow shape.
Assembly:
Next, start assembly by positioning the pine boughs to the card where the two pieces of designer series paper intersect (use the bow to help determine placement.) Once the position is determined, attach the boughs with glue dots. Next, add the two gold pinecones. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, add the bow. Use the Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the sentiment onto the strip of Whisper White and with paper snips cut a “v” shape tail on the end by the sentiment. To finish the card, adhere the tag using glue dots and tucking under the boughs.
For me, it’s time to start focusing on Christmas. It seems after Halloween passes, time speeds up and bam! Christmas is here. So, this year my goal is to mail holiday cards earlier to friends and family. Be sure to stay tuned! I have lots of holiday cards that I’ll be posting.

Well, I finally ordered the Gnome for the Holidays Stamp Set! It’s such a cute set and I’m glad I have added it to my collection. It arrived with the Snowflake Splendor Suite and the idea for today’s project was born…a Snowy Gnome! Using the gnome with the snowflakes on his hat in combination with the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, a snow themed card came together. Notice the background of the gnome…it’s created by masking the gnome and sponging inks to create a background that coordinates with the snowy designer series paper.
In the video below, I demonstrate how to color the gnome panel and assemble the card:
Materials:
Highland Heather Cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ score at 4-1/4″ for base; 4-1/4″ x 3″ for oval base
Whisper White Cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ for first layer; 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for gnome; 3-1/4″ x 3/4″ for sentiment
Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper: 5″ x 3-3/4″
Inks:
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Balmy Blue Classic Ink Pad
Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad
Whisper White Craft Ink Pad
Stampin’ Blends Markers:
Ivory
Misty Moonlight (light & dark)
Highland Heather (light)
Gray Granite (light)
Smoky Slate (light)
Mango Melody (light)
Color Lifter
Snowflake Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set
Dies
Layering Ovals
Stitched Shapes
Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes
Here’s the card from the video with a sentiment from the Snowman Season Stamp Set. After stamping the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White, I used paper snips to trim around the shape.
Stay tuned for more gnome cards! I have more ideas and will be sharing them soon. I would love to hear your comments!
