Looking for a quick card? Today’s card highlights the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper and is a card that can be made quickly. Earlier in the month, I needed cards to send to the Playtime with Paper team members in recognition of their July achievements. This Bird Ballad Congratulations card was the result. You’ll notice the card is not the standard rectangular shape. Instead, the card features a square base which works perfectly with the design. Notice too there’s very little stamping. It’s only on the sentiment. The beautiful prints of the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper help create the card. What’s wonderful with Stampin’ Up! designer series paper are the coordinating prints on the reversible papers. Read on for details on recreating this beautiful card.
Bird Ballad Congratulations card details:
Card Base: cut a 8″ x 4″ Thick Whisper White cardstock, score and fold at 4″ to create a 4″ x 4″ base.
Cut a 4″ x 4″ piece of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.
Using the Layering Squares Dies, position the square on the center of the designer series paper to cut the frame. The middle of the paper cut from the frame is used for the card front.
Lay the frame atop the card base – TIP: DO NOT ADHERE YET.
For the card center, carefully adhere center piece of the designer series paper so that it’s inside the frame.
Lift frame piece and use stampin’ dimensionals to add it to the card front.
Stamp the Congratulations from the Here’s A Card stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Cut using the Classic Label Punch.
Fussy cut flower pieces from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Attach the sentiment piece and the floral pieces to the frame using mini glue dots.
Finish by embellishing the flower centers with Basic Rhinestone Jewels.
NOTE: If you have the retired Envelope Punch Board, you can make an envelope. Or just pop the card in a Stampin’ Up! Medium envelope, it works great too!

Can you believe it’s August already! Where is time going? Currently here in middle Georgia, we’re experiencing the hot, humid days of summer. So, it’s the perfect time to stay indoors and craft!
Today’s card features the Rare Blessings Stamp Set and if you’re looking for a simple card to create, this one has you covered. Recently, a friend had asked if I could make a simple, blank card (no sentiment) for them to use. The Rare Blessings set was on my desk, so I thought it would be perfect to use. Since the flower in the stamp set is delicate in appearance, I decided to use a soft color scheme of Purple Posy and Soft Sea Foam. The flower image was first stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using the Soft Sea Foam and Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends Sets. The Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends highlights the center stamen petals of the flower. Using the Stitched Rectangles Dies, a frame is created from the Soft Sea Foam cardstock to highlight the flower image.
The interior of the card could not be completely blank! So, the small flower from the stamp set was stamped and colored to add an extra touch.
Add a comment and let me know what color scheme you’d like to see used with this stamp set. I’ll use it on a future post.

Yay! The Hallmark Christmas in July movies kickoff this Friday so I’m celebrating with another Christmas in July project. Since the heat definitely makes it the dog days of summer, it’s wishful thinking that thoughts of Christmas in July will make it seem cooler (yes, wishful thinking!) Today’s project again uses the Lots of Cheer Stamp Set. Since my first Christmas in July project was a card, I decided on a small gift packaging project. An oval label stamped with the Lots of Cheer snowman packages embellishes the Kraft Pillow Box. The pillow boxes make great gift packaging. They are 5″ x 3″ and a package contains 10 boxes to use for gifts and goodies.
Below are the steps to create this quick and simple project.
Use Real Red Classic Ink Pad and a Sponge Brayer to color the Kraft pillow box. TIP: take the ink pad and pat it directly onto the pillow box. Then use the sponge brayer to evenly distribute the ink on the pillow box. Allow the ink to dry on the pillow box.
While the pillow box dries, make the label. Stamp the stack of presents onto a 3-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Cut the shape using the large oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
Color the stamped image with Stampin’ Blends. The light Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blend adds a hint of color along the outline edges of the presents. Additional Stampin’ Blends colors on the project includes Call Me Clover (light & dark), Daffodil Delight (light & dark), Real Red (light & dark), Smoky Slate (light & dark) and Pumpkin Pie (dark). If desired, use the Color Lifter to lighten the center area of the hat.
With the Layering Ovals Dies, cut an oval from a 4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Call Me Clover cardstock. Layer the stamped image onto the oval using Snail Adhesive.
Use the Banner Triple Punch to cut an angles tail on a 1″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then, stamp the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Attach to the back of the oval label using Snail Adhesive.
Open pillow box and add gift or treats. Close ends and wrap a piece of Call Me Clover 1/8″ grosgrain ribbon around the box. TIP: wrap so that the ends meet under where the label is to be placed. Use Snail Adhesive to hold the attach the end of the ribbon to the pillow box.
Add the oval label to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. TIP: Due to the curvature of the box, it’s best to add the dimensionals to the center area of the box and add the label to the dimensionals versus adding the dimensionals directly to label before adding to the pillow box.
Tie a bow with the ribbon and add to top with mini-glue dot.
Just a reminder – BONUS DAYS are here!
For every $50 you spend (before tax & shipping), you will earn a $5 Bonus Days coupon code that can be used August 1-31. There is no limit to the number of Bonus Days coupon codes you can receive. The coupon codes are sent via email. If you earn multiple coupon codes in a single order, all of the coupon codes will be in one email.

The final make ‘n take card from the Open House utilizes simple stamping with the Daisy Lane Bundle. Since the group was large, it was necessary to have projects without a lot of detail and that would be appropriate for all stamping levels. The Daisy Lane stamp set and coordinating Medium Daisy Punch were perfect! Instead of layering cardstock for a card base, the Gold Foil-Edged Cards and Envelopes are used. The foil edge adds pizzazz to the project.
Card Details:
Stamp the flower stems directly onto the Gold Foil-Edged Card using Granny Apple Green Classic Ink Pad.
Use Melon Mambo Classic Ink Pad to stamp 4 medium daisy petal flowers onto Whisper White cardstock. With the Medium Daisy Punch, punch the stamped daisy flowers.
To create the flowers, layer one daisy atop the other. Turn the top daisy so that the petals fill the gap in the petals of the bottom daisy. Attach the top daisy to the bottom daisy using mini glue dots.
Attach the daisies to the stamped flower stems using mini-glue dots. Place one of the daisies slightly lower on the stem as seen in the card photo.
For the sentiment, stamp using Melon Mambo Classic Ink Pad onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Cut using the 1-1/2″ circle punch.
Punch a 2-1/2″ x 2″ piece of Melon Mambo cardstock using the Story Label punch. Layer the circle with sentiment onto the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Attach to card front with Snail Adhesive.
Attendees new to stamping had fun creating this card. Next week, I will show you how to “step up” this basic card design.
With Sale-a-Bration ending soon, I would like to share one of my favorite Sale-a-Bration products from the catalog. The By the Bay stamp set is a beautiful stamp set for creating the most lovely Summer paradise cards. Just look at the images, close your eyes and imagine the beach, the water, and the waves. It’s a great image in our mind right? So why not make it an image you can look at often?
Not only are the images beautiful but they are lots of fun to color. For the card below, I used Shimmery White Cardstock for stamping the image onto and my Aqua Painter to color the image. I find it relaxing to sit and color. Even better is that I have never been brave enough to paint the front door of my house red, so I was able to fulfill my urge when coloring the door on the stamped image! The colors used for this project are listed under the Project Materials.
One of the cards below that you can see in the catalog also highlights what could be a beautiful sunset. I love the birds on the other card and soft coloring. Nothing but serenity when you look at these images.
So did you pick up this stamp set during Sale-a-Bration? If you didn’t, you still have time. Visit my online store today.
The card today is another Celebrating Birthdays sample from the monthly class. It is a quick and simple card. Yet the use of the Country Floral Dynamic Texture Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) creates a look of elegance. The Petal Pink and Whisper White color scheme provides a soft look. Another reminder, the Country Floral Dynamic TIEF is currently available for FREE during Sale-a-bration. (psst – here’s a secret: the embossing folder is carrying over in the new catalog out on June 3rd but why wait and pay for it when you can get it free with a $50 order through March 31)
Below are the materials and directions for recreating the card:
Materials:
Petal Pink Cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″ to create a card base); 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ square (for circle)
Whisper White Cardstock: cut two: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (one for card front, one for interior); 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ square (for sentiment)
Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF)
Layering Circles Framelits
Leaf Punch
Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins
Petal Pink/Whisper White Variegated Ribbon
Snail Adhesive
Stampin’ Dimensionals
Mini-Glue Dots
Big Shot
Clear Block Size D
Directions:
Use the Country Floral Dynamic TIEF to texture emboss one 5-1/4″ x 4″ Whisper White cardstock. Attach to front of Petal Pink card base with adhesive.
Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Special Celebrations stamp set on the small Whisper White cardstock square. Cut circle using a Layering Circles Framelits Die.
Cut the Petal Pink cardstock square using the next size of Layering Circles Framelits.
Punch 2 sets of leaves from the Vellum cardstock using the Leaf Punch. Sandwich the leaves between the sentiment layer and the Petal Pink cardstock circle layer. Attach to the center of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Embellish by adding Petal Pink adhesive-backed sequins and a Petal Pink/Whisper White Variegated Ribbon bow to complete the card front.
