Happy Friday! For this week’s post, I am featuring the Beauty of the Earth Suite. The Beauty of the Earth Suite includes the Beauty of Friendship Bundle, the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper and the Bark 3D Embossing Folder. Today’s cards are two of the designs from Playtime with Paper team member and Peach State Stamper, Linda Edwards. Each card showcases the aptly named Beauty of the Earth Suite. I’m calling the first card a “panel card” and the second card a “thinking of you card”. Below each card, I’ll share a few details for creating each.
Tips for creating the Beauty of the Earth “Panel” Card:
Select the desired Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper that you wish to use as the long panel and cut a panel 1″ x 4-1/4″. Using the designer series paper as your guide, select a coordinating color for your card base and the layer for adhering the panels. For this sample, Misty Moonlight cardstock has been selected. Cut card base (5-1/2″ x 11″, score & fold at 4-1/4″) and panel layer 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″.
Using Basic White Cardstock (CS), cut the following pieces: 5-1/4″ x 4″; 3″ x 2-1/8″; 1-1/2″ x 2-1/8″.
To add texture to the large piece of Basic White cardstock, texture emboss using the Bark 3D Embossing Folder. Next, attach to the card base using a strong adhesive.
Next, stamp the sentiment and the tree onto the remaining Basic White CS panels.
Attach the Beauty of the Earth DSP panel and the stamped panels to the base color cardstock layer.
Wrap Linen Thread around the DSP panel three (3) times and attach to the back of the cardstock. Tie a small bow with the Linen Thread & attach to the wrapped threads using a glue dot. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add layer to the card base atop the bark embossed layer.
Complete the card front by die cutting a bird using the Beautiful Trees Dies. Add to the card front using a glue dot.
Now for the Beauty of Earth “Thinking of You” card:
Tips for creating:
Create the card base using Thick Basic White cardstock (5-1/2″ x 11″, score & fold at 4-1/4″).
Cut Bumblebee cardstock(CS) panel 5-1/4″ x 4″. Using the splotch stamp from the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set & Bumblebee Ink Pad, stamp on the upper right & lower left corners. Attach to the card base.
A panel of Early Espresso is cut 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ and texture embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder (or use the Bark 3D Embossing Folder)
The background panel (4″ x 3″) for the tree is cut from the Beauty of the Earth DSP. For the grass, use a Blender Brush to apply Old Olive ink to the lower portion of the panel. Stamp the ground area using Early Espresso. Layer the panels onto the card – refer to the card photo to note how to place the panels.
Using the Beautiful Tree Dies, cut the tree base & leaves from the Beauty of the Early DSP. With adhesive, add the tree base to the background DSP layer. Next, add the leaves panel to the tree base using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Embellish the card by die cutting two birds from a scrap of Bumblebee cardstock and attach to the tree with glue dots.
Finish by stamping the Thinking of You sentiment from the stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White CS and cut with the coordinating die. Place it atop a strip of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim and attach to the card front.
After seeing these two cards, don’t you want to add the Beauty of the Earth Suite to your “must have” list? I know I did!!! Thank you Linda for these gorgeous card designs featuring the Beauty of the Earth Suite. You can see more of Linda’s creativity at Crafty Heron Designs.

Today I am sharing a fun quadrangle card. In last month’s card class, participants were able to assemble this fun style of card. Okay, I know the question – what is a quadrangle? A quadrangle is simply a shape with four angles. Using a quadrangle on a card front adds interest and a different style of focal point. It’s not a difficult technique and your geometry teacher will be proud of you (LOL). Best of all, when creating a quadrangle from your cardstock or designer series paper you will have four equal pieces cut for cardmaking. So, it’s great when you want to make multiple cards of the same design.
To create a quadrangle: start with a square piece of cardstock or designer series paper. Mark the same distance on all four sides of the square. Then cut from one mark to the opposite mark on the other side of the paper. After cutting, you will have four quadrangles the same size.
For this card: a 6″ x 6″ square of Bumblebee cardstock at 1-1/2″ on all four sides. It is then cut from one mark to the opposite mark on all sides. For the smaller designer series paper quadrangle, a 5-1/4″ piece of designer series paper is being used and marked at 1-1/4″ on the four sides.
After cutting, you will have four equal pieces:
Materials & Assembly Directions:
Create a card base using Early Espresso Cardstock (5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, score at 4-1/4”.)
Texture emboss the Mint Macaron cardstock (5-1/4″ x 4″) using the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. Attach to the Early Espresso card base.
Layer the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper to the Bumblebee cardstock angle and adhere to the Mint Macaron layer.
Select the sentiment from the A Wish for Everything Stamp Set. Then, stamp the sentiment onto a 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Early Espresso and Bumblebee Classic Ink Pads. Use the 2″ circle punch to cut and use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add to the card front.
Embellish with a bow using the 3/8” Embroidered Ribbon.

Do you find yourself challenged creating design interest on cards? Today’s card may just help. Using a variety of techniques, design interest is being created on the card. First, notice the Daffodil Delight card base. By stamping color on color, it creates design interest. Then, the Misty Moonlight cardstock layer is askew on the card base. In addition, the Misty Moonlight cardstock is texture embossed. Next, a piece of designer series paper is cut into a circle and topped with a sentiment banner piece. That’s a total of five shapes and techniques for creating design interest. While it took me some time to adapt to adding cardstock askew on card fronts, I must admit it does add visual interest and is a nice change from typical card layering techniques.
Card Details:
Create the card base using a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock. Score at 5-1/2″ and fold.
Using Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamp the small flowers on the card base front. The flowers are from the Field of Flowers Stamp Set.
Next, cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock 3-3/4″ x 5″. Texture emboss using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder (this is becoming a favorite of mine!).
Then, add the Misty Moonlight embossed layer to the card front placing it askew. After adhering, trim the overhanging cardstock edges.
With the Layering Circles Dies, cut a coordinating floral print from the Flowers for Every Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Add to the Misty Moonlight cardstock layer. TIP: if you own the retired 2-1/2″ circle punch, use it in lieu of the 2-1/2″ layering circles die especially if you’re short on time!
On a 3/4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock, use the Banner Punch to create a banner tail on the right side of the strip. Next, stamp the sentiment using Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ Pad. The sentiment is found in the Lovely You stamp set. With Stampin’ Dimensionals, add the banner strip to the card front and across the designer series paper circle. If cardstock overhangs on the left side, trim the cardstock so that it’s even with the side of the card.
To finish the card, add a knotted bow to the side of the sentiment. The knotted bow uses the Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Ruched Ribbon.
Now, it’s your turn to start creating visual interest! Share in the comments section other ideas.

At the recent Luv 2 Stampin GA group meeting, we held a card swap to share card ideas with one another. For my creation, the goal became combining new product with retiring products. For the new product, I choose the new Blossoms in Bloom Bundle. The Blossoms In Bloom Stamp Set and coordinating Many Layered Blossoms Dies offer versatility for creating beautiful floral themed cards. Mark your calendar, you can order this set on June 3, 2020. For the card below, I stamped the blossoms stamp and die cut an overlay from the retiring Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. I love the look the designer series paper gives to the flowers. Details for you to recreate the card are below.
Card Details:
Create card base by cutting a piece of Rococo Rose cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, then score at 4-1/4″ and fold.
With the Many Layered Blossoms Dies, cut the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (6″ x 6″ piece) to create overlay. Check out the discounted price under Project Materials below!
Cut Whisper White cardstock layer – 5-1/4″ x 4″. Use the cut blossoms layer as your guide to determine where to stamp the flower centers.
Using the large blossoms stamp from the Blossoms In Bloom Set, stamp onto the Whisper White cardstock with Seaside Spray Classic Stampin’ Pad. Attach to the Rococo Rose card base using adhesive.
Add the blossoms overlay to the stamped blooms using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a scrap piece of Whisper White (approximately 1/2″ x 2-1/2″), stamp the sentiment using Rococo Rose Classic Stampin’ Pad. This sentiment comes from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. After stamping, cut a “v shape” to create a pennant end. Add to the card using Mini Glue Dots.
Finish the card by tying a knotted bow using the Rococo Rose Scalloped Ribbon and attach beside the sentiment with glue dots.
The Blossoms In Bloom Bundle will offer you lots of creative options. Be sure to order it on June 3 and have fun using Designer Series Papers to create different layering pieces.

Kicking off another week of social distancing and finally able to spend time in my craft cave. As in my last post, this card utilizes a card sketch design found online. Since I recently received the Ornate Garden Suite, I opted to feature the beautiful Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper. It works perfect with the card sketch. The beautiful Ornate Garden Suite is an early release product from the upcoming 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It is now available for order until May 31 and then again when the catalog “goes live” on June 3.
Here’s the sketch design for the card…
Card Details:
Card base: 4-1/4″ x 11″ Mint Macaron, score at 5-1/2″ with bone folder and fold.
Select three (3) coordinating designs of the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper. Cut as follows – layer one: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, layer two: 4-1/8″ x 2-1/2″, layer three: 4″ x 2-3/4″.
Attach layer one designer series paper to the card base. Referring to card sketch for placement, add layers two & three.
Use the “thinking of you” sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and Rococo Rose Classic Stampin’ Pad to stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Cut using the 2″ Circle Punch.
Cut one 4″ piece of 1/4″ Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon and one 4″ piece of Rococo Rose Ribbon from the Ornate Garden Combo Ribbon Package. Add to the card front, overlapping the two ribbons. Tie a small bow using the Rococo Rose ribbon.
Add the sentiment circle atop the layered ribbon using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Attach the bow to the side of the circle using a Mini Glue Dot.
Complete the card front by adding 3 of the Gilded Gems to accent the sentiment.
