In The Pines Season’s Greetings

Today’s card, In the Pines Season’s Greetings, is a simple stamping card that can be assembled quickly.  The In The Pines Bundle contains the In the Pines Stamp Set and the Pine Woods Dies providing a variety of products for your creations.  Not only is the bundle appropriate for holiday cards, it is great to use for nature inspired card themes.

In the Pines

Materials:
  • In the Pines Bundle
  • Shaded Spruce cardstock: 4-1/4” x 11” – score at 5-1/2” and fold for card base; 4” x 5-1/4” (layer 1)
  • Whisper White cardstock: 4-3/8” x 3-1/8” (layer 2); 3-1/2” x 2-3/4” for tree oval; ½” x 3” for sentiment banner
  • Classic Christmas 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper: Shaded Spruce design 4-1/4” x 3”
  • Oval Layering Dies (2nd largest)
  • Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Banner Pick A Punch
  • Shaded Spruce Classic Ink Pad
  • Gold Twine (from Wonder of the Season Ribbon Pack) – 8”
  • Stampin’ Seal
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Glue Dots
Directions for the In The Pines Season’s Greetings card:
  1. Texture emboss the 5-1/4” x 4” Shaded Spruce cardstock using the Subtle 3D texture embossing folder. Attach to the card base front using strong adhesive.
  2. Layer the designer series paper atop the Whisper White cardstock. Attach to the texture embossed layer near the top of the embossed piece – leave room to add the sentiment banner.
  3. Select pine tree die from the Pine Woods Dies and cut pine from Whisper White cardstock. Die cut tree in the center of the oval. Attach to designer series paper using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  4. Stamp sentiment onto strip of Whisper White cardstock using Shaded Spruce Classic Ink Pad. Punch ends to create banner.  Attach to card using dimensionals.
  5. Embellish tree trunk at base with a gold twine bow (attach with glue dot).

Using this basic design, you can change the colors,  switch the pattern of designer series paper to create an entirely different look.  I’ll be sharing more cards using the In The Pines Bundle so be sure to follow my blog.

Poinsettia Crisscross Pocket Card

In a previous post, I shared my card design for a recent Shoebox Swap that I attended.  Today, one of the cards from another card maker is being highlighted.  It is a poinsettia crisscross pocket card and absolutely gorgeous!  Linda Edwards, at Crafty Heron Designs, prepared the materials so each attendee could create the card.  Not only did Linda present this card design but she also hosted the event.  It was a delightful day and all in attendance had a wonderful time.Crisscross card

Isn’t the card beautiful?

It was simple to cut the poinsettia flower from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Poinsettia Dies.  I just love it when images from designer series papers have dies that coordinate!  To showcase the poinsettia, the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper provides the perfect base.  The crisscross card is cut 1/4″ smaller and mounted onto a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock.  The combination of Whisper White and Very Vanilla makes an elegant card.  Notice how one side of the crisscross is topped with the designer series paper and the other is texture embossed.  This adds an extra WOW element.  For the sentiment card, stamp with Versamark  and heat emboss using Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then, layer atop a piece of gold foil paper.  To create a pull for the card interior, punch a slit using the Label Me Fancy Punch and thread ribbon though slit.

Gift Wrapped Christmas Card

Today’s card, a gift wrapped Christmas card, is the card design I chose for a recent Shoebox Swap cardmaking event.  With a Shoebox Swap, the goal is to make kits for each participant for reproducing the card design.  Place the cardmaking materials in a shoebox and participants recreate the project from each shoebox.  It’s lots of fun and a great way to make a variety of cards.   The Gift Wrapped Bundle along with the Beautiful Boughs Dies creates an easy to replicate card.

Gift Wrapped

Card Materials:
  • Card base: Real Red cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″ for side fold card
  • Whisper White cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ for texture embossed layer; 3/4″ x 3″ for sentiment and 3″ x 3″ for bow
  • Tis The Season Designer Series Paper: 5-1/4″ x 1-1/4″; 4″ x 1-1/4″
  • Garden Green cardstock: 3″ x 5″ (die cut 2 of the medium boughs from the Beautiful Bough Dies)
  • Gold Foil Paper: 1-1/2″ x 3″ (die cut 2 pinecones using small pinecone die from Beautiful Bough Dies)
  • Gift Wrapped Bundle
  • Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder (or other embossing folder of you choice)
  • Beautiful Boughs Dies
  • Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
  • Stampin’ Blends Markers: Flirty Flamingo, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, & Color Lifter
Details:

With the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder, texture emboss the Whisper White layer.   Attach the embossed layer to the Real Red card base using a strong adhesive.  Next, add the strips of Tis the Season Designer Series Paper with the vertical strip approximately 1″ in from the left side on the Whisper White layer and the horizontal strip approximately 1-1/4″ from the top of the layer.  Then, select the bow stamp from the Gift Wrapped Stamp Set and stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto the 3″ square of Whisper White cardstock.  Color using the following Stampin’ Blends Markers: Dark Flirty Flamingo, Dark Cherry Cobbler, Light & Dark Real Red.  Tip: use the Color Lifter and Dark Flirty Flamingo to create highlights on the bow.  After coloring, use the Gift Bow Builder Punch to cut the bow shape.

Assembly:

Next, start assembly by positioning the pine boughs to the card where the two pieces of designer series paper intersect (use the bow to help determine placement.)  Once the position is determined, attach the boughs with glue dots.  Next, add the two gold pinecones.   Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, add the bow. Use the Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the sentiment onto the strip of Whisper White and with paper snips cut a “v” shape tail on the end by the sentiment.  To finish the card, adhere the tag using glue dots and tucking under the boughs.

For me, it’s time to start focusing on Christmas. It seems after Halloween passes, time speeds up and bam! Christmas is here.  So, this year my goal is to mail holiday cards earlier to friends and family.  Be sure to stay tuned!  I have lots of holiday cards that I’ll be posting.

A Snowy Gnome

Well, I finally ordered the Gnome for the Holidays Stamp Set!  It’s such a cute set and I’m glad I have added it to my collection.  It arrived with the Snowflake Splendor Suite and the idea for today’s project was born…a Snowy Gnome!  Using the gnome with the snowflakes on his hat in combination with the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, a snow themed card came together.  Notice the background of the gnome…it’s created by masking the gnome and sponging inks to create a background that coordinates with the snowy designer series paper.

Gnome

In the video below, I demonstrate how to color the gnome panel and assemble the card:

Materials:
  • Highland Heather Cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ score at 4-1/4″ for base; 4-1/4″ x 3″ for oval base
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ for first layer; 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for gnome; 3-1/4″ x 3/4″ for sentiment
  • Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper: 5″ x 3-3/4″
  • Inks:
    • Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
    • Balmy Blue Classic Ink Pad
    • Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad
    • Whisper White Craft Ink Pad
  • Stampin’ Blends Markers:
    • Ivory
    • Misty Moonlight (light & dark)
    • Highland Heather (light)
    • Gray Granite (light)
    • Smoky Slate (light)
    • Mango Melody (light)
    • Color Lifter
  • Snowflake Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • Dies
    • Layering Ovals
    • Stitched Shapes
  • Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes

Here’s the card from the video with a sentiment from the Snowman Season Stamp Set.  After stamping the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White, I used paper snips to trim around the shape.

Stay tuned for more gnome cards! I have more ideas and will be sharing them soon.  I would love to hear your comments!

Arrange A Wreath Merry Christmas

Have you started making your holiday cards? If not, you’ll want to consider the Arrange A Wreath Merry Christmas card I’m sharing. It’s one of the holiday card designs that I’ll be using as Christmas approaches.  The design is an Arrange A Wreath Merry Christmas card and is from my Guest Stamper presentation for the Luv 2 Stamp team.  In previous posts, I provided you with other ideas for using this versatile stamp set and die bundle.  The Arrange A Wreath Merry Christmas card is one of my favorite projects using the bundle. The Merry Merlot and Brushed Metallic cardstocks along with the Gold Cards & Envelopes create an elegant card.

Arrange A Wreath Merry Christmas

Card Details:
  • With Arrange A Wreath dies, cut 2 leaf dies from the gold Brushed Metallic cardstock and one twig die from the Merry Merlot cardstock.
  • Using the largest flower die (6 petal flower); cut 6 flowers from the Merry Merlot cardstock.
  • Spritz the Merry Merlot flowers and twig wreath with the Champagne Mist.  (Does not show in photo but the spritzing adds a special glimmer touch!) After drying, layer two of the flowers together using a glue dot to hold the layers (creating 3 poinsettia flowers).
  • Next, stamp 5 leaves using Old Olive Classic Ink Pad onto Old Olive cardstock and cut with the coordinating die.
  • Create a 3 layer wreath:
    • Attach the Merry Merlot twig wreath atop one of the gold leaf wreaths taking note to offset the twigs with the leaves. TIP: use small dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the circle line of the wreath to adhere the wreath.
    • Next, add the adhesive to the back of the remaining gold leaf wreath and layer it atop the Merry Merlot wreath.  AGAIN – offset the placement so the leaves aren’t lined up with one another.
    • Add Mini Stampin’ Dimensions to the back of the wreath and add to the top portion of the card base.
  • Attach leaves to the poinsettia flowers using glue dots. Arrange flowers and add to the wreath with glue dots.
  • Finish the flowers by adding Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots to the center of each flower.
  • Use the Detailed Trio Punch to punch the design on each end of the Merry Merlot cardstock for the sentiment label.
  • Next, stamp “Merry Christmas” using Merry Merlot onto a strip of Very Vanilla. Then, attach to the Merry Merlot strip and add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

If you want to create a special card, look at the Arrange A Wreath bundle for lots of possibilities.  I’ve been cutting additional wreaths to use for creating more Merry Christmas cards.  So when the time arrives to start mailing my holiday cards, I can quickly assemble.  And best of all, using the beautiful Gold Cards and Envelopes saves lots of time!
