Beautiful Promenade Mother’s Day Card

Since Mother’s Day is this weekend, I am sharing the Beautiful Promenade Mother’s Day Card from the latest card class.  For months, I have been wanting to make a recessed panel diagonal card.  With a recessed panel card, the designer series paper for the panel becomes a focal point.  The beautiful Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper (DSP) and it’s photo quality is perfect.  The coordinating Beautiful Promenade Bundle offered the necessary pieces to highlight the sentiment and the DSP panel. The April 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit contained the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment.  However, there are several stamp sets in the current catalogs that offer the sentiment.  Or you can stamp your desired sentiment.

Also, don’t forget to embellish the envelope.  On the front, stamp the flower used on the the card on one of the lower corners.  And for a special added touch, cut an envelope liner using the Beautiful Layers envelope die.

Project materials are listed at the end of this post.

Card Details:

When cutting the diagonal on the Whisper White cardstock panel,  I did not measure.   I first made a diagonal cut to create the top.  Then on the bottom portion of the piece cut another diagonal.  The diagonal edges that line the Pretty Promenade DSP, are edged with strips of Blushing Bride cardstock.

  1. Create card base using Thick Whisper White (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ score at 4-1/4″ and fold on score line).
  2. For the diagonal piece, a Whisper White cardstock layer is 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ (same size as card front).
  3. A 3″ x 6″ piece of Pretty Promenade DSP is placed diagonally across card base before adding the Whisper White diagonally cut panels.  Determine layout of the pieces on the card base before using adhesive to permanently attach.  Trim the excess DSP after adhering to card base.
  4. On scraps of Whisper White, stamp the flower from the Beautiful Promenade stamp set using Blushing Bride Classic Ink Pad.  Cut using coordinating die.  Apply Clear Wink of Stella to flower.
  5. Stamp desired sentiment using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink Pad onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Use 1-3/4″ circle punch to cut.  Layer onto a 2″ circle of Blushing Bride cardstock.  Embellish with Petal Pink Rhinestone Gem.
  6. Stamp leaves on Mossy Meadow cardstock and Whisper White cardstock using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink Pad.  Cut using coordinating dies.  Also cut vellum leaves.  Layer leaves behind the flower using mini glue dots to attach.

To all the mom’s – Have a Happy Mother’s Day!

Maximizing Your Designer Series Paper

Earlier this week on a Facebook Live, I highlighted maximizing your Designer Series Paper.  Twelve cards can be made from one 12″ x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  The only scrap for the trash left after making the cuts is a 1/2″ x 1-1/2″ inch piece.  The Designer Series Paper in the sample cards is Painted Seasons.  This Designer Series Paper is a FREE Sale-a-Bration selection and is only available until March 31 (just a few more days!).  The twelve cards and cutting guide are shown below.

Cutting Guide:

Tips for cutting:

  1. Use the photo as your guide and cut the vertical lines first. In the photo, the pink arrows designate the vertical cut lines.
  2. Cut the first vertical line at a width of 4″.
  3. The next vertical cut is 3″ in width.
  4. The final vertical cut is 3-1/2″ in width.
  5. After completing these cuts, you will have a 4″ x 12″ strip, a 3″ x 12″ strip, a 3-1/2″ x 12″ strip and a 1-1/2″ x 12″ strip.
  6. Refer to the photo and cut the strips to the appropriate sizes for the cards.

More Celebrating Birthdays

We are still celebrating birthdays and I am sharing another card from the class themed Celebrating Birthdays.  The card is a triple layer card featuring the Painted Seasons stamp set.  The stamp set is in a bundle with the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper and is a Sale-a-bration selection.  Remember, it is available for FREE with a qualifying order of $100 until March 31 (or while supplies last).  In addition, the coordinating Four Seasons Framelits eliminate the fussy cutting for the added floral embellishment.  For triple layer stamping, I like to use a monochromatic color scheme and chose Highland Heather to provide a Springtime look.  This stamping method also looks great with a combination of colors so just select your favorite colors.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.

A tutorial is available for this card.  Here is the link for the Triple Layer Card featuring Painted Seasons Stamp Set

To go with the theme, Celebrating Birthdays, a class participant surprised the group with treat of cupcakes and not just plain cupcakes!  Joni made delicious lemon strawberry cupcakes and cake.  Just look at her creations!

She cut silver cardstock with the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies and cut individual butterflies to use on picks for the cupcakes.   Joni used a blend of inks and glitter glue on the wings and bodies of  to add pizzazz to the butterflies.  Green moss on the picks add a touch of realism.  The cupcakes and cake were almost too beautiful to eat!

As you can tell, the card classes are lots of fun!
