Nature’s Beauty Fun Fold

One of the projects from the recent card classes is a fun fold card featuring the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set.  If you’ve not seen the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set, you must check it out on page 63 in the Holiday Catalog.  It was one of the first products on my order list.  Though the stamp set contains no sentiments, it’s a set perfect for creating a variety of nature inspired card and project designs.  The wildlife animals are good to use for creating masculine theme cards too.  It gets even better.  For every set that is sold, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to Mental Health Organizations.

Here’s a peek at all the stamps included in the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set…

Card Details:
  • Cajun Craze cardstock is cut 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ for base.
  • Cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz 5-1/4″ x 6-3/4″ and score at 4″.  Fold on score line to create the card.  Attach to the Cajun Craze card base with Snail Adhesive.
  • The plaid piece is from the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper and is cut 2-1/2″ x 5″. To adhere to the front card flap, use Snail Adhesive.
  • The Whisper White card interior is 5″ x 3-3/4″.  The sentiment on the card is from the Free As A Bird stamp set.  Stamp the sentiment on the lower right corner of the exposed Whisper White using Cajun Craze Classic Stamp Pad.  Then, attach to the interior of the Pear Pizzazz.
  • On a 2-1/2″ scrap of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the Bunny using Soft Suede.  To the side of the bunny, stamp the reeds using So Saffron.  Cut with the next to smallest circle in the Stitched Shapes Dies.  Use the Layering Circles Dies to cut a scallop from Cajun Craze cardstock.  Attach the bunny piece to the scallop circle with Snail Adhesive.  Then attach the entire circle to the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Refer to photo for placement.  TIP: Be sure to add the Stampin’ Dimensionals to the top half of the circle only.
  • Complete the card by adding a bow made using the Cajun Craze Linen Thread from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.

Also, a big shout out and thank you to Cindee Wilkinson at Just Sponge It!  The fun fold was shown on one of her projects.   So, I used her dimensions for my nature inspired card.

Come to Gather

Today, I am showcasing one of the cards from the Holiday Catalog Shoebox swap from a couple of weeks ago.  The Gather Together bundle and other products from the Come to Gather Suite create a Fall themed card.  Yes, the calendar says Fall is right around the corner but the weather here in Georgia is hanging on to Summer!  Temperatures are forecast to reach near 100 this weekend!  I hope that you’re having more moderate weather.  Now back to the card.  Notice the Cajun Craze leaves?  The dies cut and emboss!  I share a tip below on using the dies.  The Gather Together card is a simple card that is perfect to send to family and friends.

Unfortunately, I do not have the name of the person that created the card design. We were all busy moving from station to station and neglected to gather names of each person with their creation!  Lesson learned!  We’ll put our names on our creations.

Gather Together

Card Materials:
  • Base: Early Espresso cardstock (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ for side fold card base)
  • Very Vanilla cardstock: 3″ x 3″ for large leaf, 4″ x 5-1/4″ for interior, 2″ x 1″ for sentiment on front of card
  • Cajun Craze cardstock: 2-1/2″ x 3″ for cut & embossed leaves
  • Come to Gather Designer Series Paper: 2″ x 5-1/4″
  • Classic Ink Pads: Cajun Craze & Pretty Peacock
  • Cajun Craze Linen Thread from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack
Details:
  • To create card base, fold the Early Espresso on the score line.
  • Adhere the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper to the left side of the Early Espresso card base using Snail Adhesive.
  • Stamp the large maple leaf using Cajun Craze onto the 3″ square of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Cut using the coordinating die.
  • Use the three embossed leaf dies to cut and emboss leaves from the strip of Cajun Craze cardstock.  TIP: spritz the paper lightly with water before using your die cutter – this helps the dies break the fibers in the paper, which gives a deeper embossed impression.  Plus the edges of the leaves curl slightly, just like a real leaf.
  • With the strip of Very Vanilla, stamp the sentiment with Pretty Peacock.  Trim to create the flag tail.
  • Using snail adhesive, attach the three Cajun Craze leaves to the card (refer to photo for placement).
  • Add the large stamped leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Using adhesive, attach the sentiment to the lower portion of the card.
  • With three strands of the Cajun Craze linen thread, tie a bow.  Attach to the card front above the sentiment using a mini glue dot.

See how simple it is to create a beautiful Fall card.  The embossed leaves dies add lots of dimension to projects with leaves.  Be sure to get the Gather Together Bundle – you’ll find that it’s great for more than just Fall themed projects.

Creating with #Elfie

Woohoo!  On Wednesday, September 4th, you can order from the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog!  So, today I’m sharing a card made with products from my demonstrator preorder.  I had lots of fun creating with #Eflie (item #150509).  Last weekend, I participated in a Holiday Shoe Box Swap and selected #Elfie to use for my swap. The elves in the set are full of whimsy.  If you like to color, you’ll enjoy using your favorite coloring method for the images.  Believe me when I say, you’ll have fun creating with #Elfie!  For my swap, watercolor pencils and a blender pen were the coloring tools.  The images coordinate perfectly with other new products in the Holiday Catalog.  Additional products include the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper, the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint, the Shimmery Crystal Effects and Ice Stampin’ Glitter.  Plus, see the presents around the frame?  They can be found in the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley (this is a fantastic product offering!).

#Elfie

Card details:
  • Create a card base using an 11″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Pool Party cardstock. Score and fold at 5-1/2″ to create a top fold card.  Next, cut a piece of the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) to cover the card front (5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″).  TIP:  if the DSP you select has a directional pattern, double check it’s position before cutting.  Attach the DSP to the card front.
  • Use the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut a Pool Party cardstock frame.
  • Stamp the elf using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a 4-5/8″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Color with the following watercolor pencils: Garden Green , Cherry Cobbler Red, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso (hair) and Flirty Flamingo (for the face).  Use the blender pens to smooth the watercolor pencil colors.  TIP:  For the face, I touched the end of the blender pen to the Flirty Flamingo to pick up a small amount of color instead of  directly coloring the face with the watercolor pencil.  This ensured that just a small amount of color was added.
  • With the tip of a blender pen, pick up Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink to color the ball on the striped pole and the bell on the elf hat.
  • To create a “fur look” on the brim of the elf hat, add a small amount of the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint and watch it “puff” when drying with the heat tool.
  • Lightly sponge Pool Party Ink around the elf and to stamp the snowflakes from the #Elfie stamp set.
  • Add a snowy glimmer to the sign by adding Shimmery Crystal Effects and sprinkling with a small amount of Ice Stampin’ Glitter.
  • Attach the frame to the elf panel using Foam Adhesive Strips.  Then, attach to the card front using adhesive.
Final Touches:
  • Stamp two sets of the presents from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley using Real Red and Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Pads onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut using the coordinating dies.
  • The sentiment is stamped onto Whisper White cardstock using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cut using the Classic Label Punch.
  • Arrange the presents and sentiment around the frame attaching with mini glue dots and mini stampin’ dimensionals.

The Holiday Shoe Box Swap was a fun event! It allowed demonstrators to share project ideas using products from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  So, I’ll be sharing the projects with you soon.

Be sure to complete your shopping list from the Holiday Catalog and include the products shown in today’s post.  When ready, you can place your order here starting on September 4th.  I appreciate your support and for every $50 order (before shipping & taxes), you’ll receive a Thank You gift of the Shimmery Crystal Effects from me .

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Labor Day!

Thinking of You with a Wild Rose

Today I’m featuring a Thinking of You with a Wild Rose card in a neutral color scheme. The neutral color palette uses Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.   One of my favorite stamp bundles in the Annual Catalog is the To A Wild Rose Bundle so naturally, it was easy to select it to use for the card. The bundle includes the To A Wild Rose Stamp Set and the coordinating Wild Rose Dies. A lacy Bird Ballad Laser Cut Card creates the beautiful base. Be sure to check out the Bird Ballad Laser Cut Cards. They include coordinating envelopes and a beautiful storage tin.

Isn’t this Thinking of You with a Wild Rose a gorgeous card?

To A Wild RoseAdditional Card Details:

  1. For the panel behind the lacy card front,  cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. Adhere by using multipurpose liquid glue along edges of the lacy panel.
  2. Stamp the flower from To A Wild Rose onto a 2-3/4″ square of Very Vanilla cardstock using Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Classic Ink Pads.  Cut using the coordinating die.
  3. For the leaves, stamp using Crumb Cake onto scraps of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Cut using coordinating die. Note: 2 sets of leaves are used
  4. Select the Thinking of You sentiment from the Rooted in Nature Stamp set.  Stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut with the stitched label die in the Wild Rose Dies.
  5. Attach the sentiment to the card base using Snail Adhesive.  Add the leaves to the wild rose using mini glue dots. Then, add the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Complete the card front by embellishing the center of the wild rose with Gold Metallic Pearls and adding a double bow tied using Linen Thread.

More Dino Days!

Yes, it’s more Dino Days and today I’m featuring a card from this month’s class.  The card features the Dino Days Bundle which includes the Dino Days stamp set and coordinating Dino Dies. In addition, the Dinoroar Designer Series Paper provides the perfect background.  The Pteradyctal, with it’s wingspread, goes perfectly with the sentiment.  I have had great fun creating projects with this bundle and can assure you, I will be posting more Dino projects in the future!

Dino Days Pterodactyl Card

Card Details:
  1. Create card base using Pretty Peacock cardstock (4-1/4″ x 11″, score at 5-1/2″).  Card is an oblong, right side opening card.
  2. Layer a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Dinoroar Designer Series Paper onto the card base.
  3. Cut Lovely Lipstick cardstock layer: 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″.
  4. Use the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut Whisper White cardstock (select rectangle die to cut Whisper White so that piece will fit inside of the Lovely Lipstick layer).
  5. Stamp the tree trunk with Pretty Peacock Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Add the palm fronds, stamping with Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad.  TIP: Stamp once, then stamp again before re-inking the stamp.
  6. Stamp background circles onto the Whisper White using Pineapple Punch.
  7. With Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamp the sentiment onto the lower portion of the Whisper White cardstock piece.  Add to the Lovely Lipstick cardstock layer using snail adhesive.
  8. On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the Pterodactyl using Mango Melody Classic Stampin’ Pad – first, stamp off onto another piece of paper, then stamp again.  Stamp the wing design using the Mango Melody ink without stamping off.  Cut using the coordinating Dino Die.  Add to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  9. Cut a 3′ piece of the Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon.  Fold in half and attach to the lower left side of the Lovely Lipstick layer using adhesive.
  10. Add completed sentiment layer to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hope I have convinced you to use the Dino Days Bundle to create some fun cards for your dinosaur lover!

Royal Peacock Happy Birthday

Earlier this week, I shared a simple peacock note card.  Now, I’m sharing another card featuring the Royal Peacock Bundle.  It’s a Royal Peacock Happy Birthday card.  While the note card was simple, this card takes more time but the results are beautiful. Don’t you agree?  Card details and tips are continued below the card’s photo.

Royal Peacock Happy Birthday Card

Royal Peacock Happy Birthday Card Details:

The card base uses Blueberry Bushel cardstock cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/4″ and scored, then folded at 4-1/4″.  A second card layer of Basic Black cardstock (5-1/4″ x 4″) is added.  The top layer is a layer of Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper in the Old Olive design (3-3/4″ x 5″).  TIP:  Before adding the Noble Peacock Designer Series Paper.  Wrap a piece of the Blueberry Bushel 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon around the paper (refer to photo for placement).

Stamping the Peacock – TIP: Due to the complexity of the design, I recommend using the Stamparatus to ensure stamping success as you may need to re-ink and repeat the stamping. The peacock is a two stage stamp set.  First, stamp the full peacock using Stazon Jet Black Ink Pad onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  Use the Old Olive watercolor pencil from the Watercolor Pencils set to color the back and lower feathers of the peacock.  With an aqua painter, lightly wash over the Old Olive coloring.  Using a clean aqua painter, color the top portion of the peacock using Blueberry Bushel ink.  For the second stage, stamp the additional feathers onto the lower area using Blueberry Bushel Classic Stampin’ Pad.  With the coordinating die from the Detailed Peacock Dies, cut the peacock shape.  Add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the sentiment:  Stamp the sentiment from the Here’s A Card stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Ink.  Cut shape using the Stitched Labels Nested Labels Dies.  If desired, trim the right side to align with the top layer of the card.

Complete the card by adding Noble Peacock Rhinestones to embellish the peacock tail feathers and the sentiment.
