Hey Chuck Note Card Set

We had Hey Chick in the past and now we have Hey Chuck! And Hey Chuck is just as much fun to use for creating projects. Today I am using the Hey Chuck Bundle to create a note card set. This project is from a recent gathering of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from the state of Georgia. Attendees created the note card set as one of their projects.

To color the images watercolor pencils and a blender pen were selected. The technique of using watercolor pencils and a blender pen is often forgotten but is a great alternative to Stampin’ Blends. When using the technique, I recommend using the Thick White Cardstock as “pilling” with a blender pen is less likely to occur. Plus use a soft touch with the blender pen – think of holding a paint brush and likely smooth across the coloring to smooth and blend. To add additional interest, texture emboss the colored panels with the cross hatch Basics 3D Embossing Folder.

Don’t those chicks make you smile?

To recreate the Hey Chuck Note Card Set, a FREE tutorial is available. The tutorial is in the Events Section at the top of this post under the Tutorial Tab.

Box Making with Favored Flowers

Earlier this week, the Playtime with Paper team had our quarterly Stampin’ Up! meeting. The meetings are lots of fun and include learning new techniques or projects. Box making using the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper was one of the technique projects from this week’s meeting. The Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper is a Sale-a-Bration brochure product and can be selected for FREE with a $50 Stampin’ Up! purchase. The designer series paper is gorgeous and coordinates with the Fragrant Flowers Bundle in the Jan-Apr Mini Catalog. Even better, some of the Fragrant Flowers Dies coordinate with the paper so no fussy cutting!

If you want to save on your paper crafting products and become a member of my Playtime with Paper team, now is a great time to join Stampin’ Up! Contact me for more details on becoming an independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. Or check out the Sale-a-bration promotion video below for information on the exclusive deals being offered through February 28th. I would love to have you join my Playtime with Paper team!

Box and Embellishment Project Materials:
  • Box:
    • Basic Black Cardstock (discontinued): 12″ x 12″; cut a sliver of cardstock (approx. 1/16″) from two adjoining sides of the cardstock.  Next score at 2-1/2″ on all sides. NOTE: Since the Basic Black Cardstock is no longer available in a 12″ x 12″ size,  I recommend substituting with colors from the 2021-2023 In Color 12″ x 12″ pack (either the Fresh Freesia or Evening Evergreen) or Regals 12″ x 12″ Cardstock (Old Olive).
    • Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper: 10-1/2″ x 10-1/2″; score at 1-3/4″ on all sides
    • Strong Adhesive – Tear & Tape, Seal + or Multipurpose Liquid Glue
    • Paper Trimmer

    • Scalloped Contours Dies (use the 2 largest rectangles)
    • Ringed With Nature Stamp Set
    • Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
    • Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon

If you are interested in creating custom square and rectangle boxes, I recommend the following video from the Stampin’ Up! Training Team: https://youtu.be/_zi95NGr850 (Fast forward through the first two minutes to get to the box instructions.) After watching the steps for making a box, two formulas for calculating cardstock/designer series paper and box sizes are provided.

Floating Panel Card

Happy Holidays! I hope your Christmas or Hannukah celebrations were memorable and shared with those you love.  We celebrated Christmas with our sons and their families.  We feel blessed and fortunate to have been able to enjoy the holiday with them.

And yes, Christmas has already come but I’m sharing a holiday card (was just too busy with holiday tasks to spend time blogging!). However,  I thought you would enjoy the technique on this card.  It’s a floating panel card and is easily adapted by changing the papers and sentiment.  The floating panel technique makes the card unique.  Plus you can use all those strips of paper you’ve been saving!

Below is the list of project materials for this card and a video tutorial highlighting the Floating Frame technique:

Christmas Banner Holiday Card

Today’s project features a Christmas Banner holiday card that is easy for mass production.  There’s little stamping and the use of designer series paper layered onto cardstock completes the look.  While I am using non-traditional colors, it’s easy to swap out the colors and use a designer series paper with a traditional holiday color scheme.  Watch the video below to see how simple it is to make the Christmas Banner card.  NOTE: The Christmas Banner Bundle is retiring soon!  Order it soon – then you will have it available to use on next year’s holiday cards!
