Ornate Style Floral

Happy Monday!  Today I am sharing an Ornate Style floral bouquet featuring the large floral spray from the Ornate Style Cling Stamp Set.  This stamp set is one of the products in the Ornate Garden Suite Early Release.  The floral image begs to be colored with markers or using watercolor techniques.  For today’s card, Stampin’ Blends Markers are used.

Ornate Style Floral

Card Details:
  • Create card base using Rococo Rose (5-1/2″ x 11″, score at 4-1/4″ and fold).
  • For second layer, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock (5-1/4″ x 4″) and texture emboss using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  Attach to card base with strong adhesive.
  • Stamp the sentiment, Thinking of You, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.  Next, layer the sentiment piece onto a 4″ x 3/4″ strip of Rococo Rose cardstock.  Set aside to add to card after adding the floral piece.
  • Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamp the large floral onto a 4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.
  • With paper snips, fussy cut the floral spray leaving a small border (approximately 1/8″).  Color around the border and outline of flowers using the Smoky Slate Light Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Ornate Style Bouquet

  • Color the flowers and leaves using the following Stampin’ Blends Markers: Rococo Rose Light & Dark, Daffodil Delight Light, Balmy Blue Light & Dark, Old Olive Light & Dark
  • Attach the floral to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals, then add the sentiment piece using a strong adhesive.
  • Using the Smoky Slate Light Stampin’ Marker to color a piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.  Tie into a small bow and add to sentiment using a Mini Glue Dot.
  • To complete the card front, embellish the small flower centers with Basic Rhinestone Jewels.
And, don’t forget to embellish the card interior!

Coloring with the Stampin’ Blends Markers takes me back to being a child and coloring with crayons.  There’s something therapeutic about coloring!

The Ornate Style Stamp Set and the entire Ornate Garden Suite is full of wonderful crafting products.  Take advantage of the Early Release and have fun coloring and creating beautiful projects.  Links for the Ornate Style stamp set, the bundle and the Ornate Garden Suite are under the Project Materials section.

Diamond Easel Card for Mother’s Day

Check out this beautiful Diamond Easel Card!  Before being required to shelter-in-place, our community craft club held its monthly meeting.  At the meeting a member of the Playtime with Paper team, Beneta, led the class in making the card design.  I choose a Mother’s Day sentiment and will be sending the card to my mother.  For our cards, the Good Morning Magnolia Bundle and coordinating Magnolia Lane Designer Series paper combine to create this beautiful fancy fun fold card.

Diamond Easel Card

For full details on creating a Diamond Easel Card be sure to check out Susan Levasseur’s post at this link: www.wownolacreations.com. In addition to  products and sizes required for the card, Susan has a step-by-step video you can follow.  Note: Stampin’ Blends can be used in place of the watercolor pencils and Stampin’ Write Markers.

Making the Diamond Easel Card was a huge success at the craft club meeting.  A big “Thank You” to Beneta for leading the club in creating the card!

I can’t wait to try making the card again using another of the Stampin’ Up! bundles and coordinating papers.  Be sure to notice that the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper is discounted on the Last-Chance Product List.  It is available while supplies last or thru June 2.  Grab it before it’s gone!

Dressed To Impress

During the cleaning and reorganizing of my craft cave recently, I came across a package of Lipstick Ink Pens ordered from Amazon last year for one of those “good intentions” projects.  You know you have “good intentions” to make a project, order all the materials but it never gets made!  Can you relate? Thought I can’t remember the original design, I knew the Dressed to Impress bundle would be perfect to create a 3D project using the ink pens.  Even better, the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper contains a variety of colors to coordinate with the Lipstick Ink Pens. The resulting project is a Lipstick Pen and Post-It Note Holder.

For this week’s Playtime with Paper team online meeting, members received a kit for creating this project.  It was a fun to be able to meet virtually and craft together making the project.

Dressed To Impress Lipstick Pen Holder

Project Materials:
  • Cut the following pieces of cardstock:
    • Base:  4-1/4″ x 11″, score at 5-1/2″ and fold.
    • Inner Support: cardstock 4″ x 4-1/2″.  On the 4-1/2″ side, score at 1/2″, 2-1/4″ and 4″.  Fold along score lines to form a “W”.

    •  Lipstick holder: 3-1/2″ x 2-3/4″.  Score along the 3-1/2″ side at 3/4″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/4″ and 3″.  Score the 2-3/4″ side at 2″.  Use bone folder to burnish along the score lines.
    • For sentiment: Whisper White cardstock 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″
  • Select desired Best Dressed Designer Series Paper and cut as follows:
    • 5-1/4″ x 4″
    • 3 pieces at 1/2″ x 1-3/4″
  • Dressed To Impress Stamp Set
  • Classic Stampin’ Pad to coordinate with project
  • Stitched Shaped Dies
  • Coordinating ribbon
  • 2″ x 2″ Post-It Notes
  • Lipstick Ink Pens (Amazon link)
Project Assembly:
  • Use the 5-1/4″ x 4″ Best Dressed Designer Series Paper to one side of the cardstock base.  This will be the front side of your project.
  • Attach the inner support piece to the inside of the base.  To do so, add a strong adhesive such as Tear & Tape Adhesive or Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the outside of each of the 1/2″ flaps and attach each flap to the lower interior edge of the base.

  • Create the lipstick holder.  With paper snips, cut along each score line on the 3-3/4″ side up to the 2″ scored line.  After cutting, you will have 4 tabs that are 3/4″ and one tab that is 1/2″. Cut and remove the 1/2″ tab up to the 2″ score line then cut a small angle at bottom of the tab.  Trim along each side of the tab.  Add adhesive to outside of the 1/2″ tab and fold side over to create tube.  Fold each of the flaps and seal with adhesive to form the tube bottom.  Finish by adding the 1/2″ x 1-3/4″ Designer Series Paper to three sides of the tube.  With strong adhesive, add the lipstick tube holder to the front panel of the base.

  • Add the Post-It Notes to the front of the base using a strong adhesive aligning the bottom of note pad with bottom of lipstick tube holder.
  • Stamp sentiment onto the Whisper White cardstock.  Cut using the circle Stitched Shapes Die.
  • Add the sentiment above the post-it notes using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Embellish by adding a small bow using Mini Glue Dots.

Have fun selecting your favorite Best Dressed Designer Series Paper and coordinating cardstock to create a Lipstick Pen Holder and Post-It Notes holder for your desk.  Be sure to share your project with me in the comments section!

Buy the Shoes

Happy Monday!  This past weekend, I carved a bit of time to spend in my craft room completing projects.  Several of the projects utilize the Dressed to Impress Bundle and one of my favorite sayings in the bundle: Life is Short, Buy the Shoes. The bundle includes the Dressed to Impress Photopolymer Stamp Set and coordinating All Dressed Up dies. Since a shoe-loving friend celebrates her birthday in May,  the saying is perfect for her birthday card.  The Best Dressed Designer Series Paper combines with the stamp set to create the card.

Dressed to Impress

“Life is Short, Buy The Shoes” Card Details:
  • Card base is Purple Posy cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ and folded).
  • Texture emboss the card front using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Cut the purple floral Best Dressed Designer Series Paper 5-1/4″ x 1-3/4″.  Attach to the left side of the card front using adhesive.
  • The shoe design Best Dressed Designer Series Paper is cut 2″ x 3-1/2″.  Add to the card front as shown in the card photo.
  • Using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, cut a 3-1/2″ x 2″ piece of Purple Posy cardstock.
  • Stamp the sentiment, Life is Short, Buy the Shoes,  using Highland Heather Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a 1-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut using the Stitched Nested Labels Die.  Adhere to the Purple Posy stitched label and attach entire layered label to the card front.
  • On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, use the shoe stamp and Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad to stamp two shoes.  Color the shoes using the Daffodil Delight Light Stampin’ Blends Marker. Cut each shoe using the coordinating die from the All Dressed Up Dies.
  • Add the shoes to the sentiment layer using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finish the card by adding a bow using the Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon or the Mint Macaron Sheer Ribbon.

Also – Don’t forget to embellish the envelope!
