A Fall Fun Fold Card

The Fall Fun Fold card is a change from the typical card design and “fun fold” definitely describes this card.  The card is one of the samples from the September class and showcases products from both current Stampin’ Up! Catalogs.  The Country Home Photopolymer Stamp Set can be found in the Annual Catalog on page 95.  Though it’s a great set to use year round, the milk can with the cotton bolls floral arrangement reminds me of Fall. The Come To Gather Designer Series Paper, from the Holiday Catalog, is added on the front fold panel.  Continue reading below the card photos for the card details.

Card Base:
  • First layer is Mint Macaron cardstock: 4-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 5-1/2″.
  • To create the slender folded panel, use Pretty Peacock cardstock. The size is 9-1/2″ x 2-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-3/4″.
  • Referring to photos for the placement, attach the Pretty Peacock panel to the Mint Macaron card base using adhesive.
Card Panels:
  • Cut two panels of Whisper White cardstock 4-1/2″ x 2-1/4″.  On one of the panels, stamp the milk can using Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad.  Stamp the florals with Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad. Use Pretty Peacock Classic Stampin’ Pad for the sentiment.  TIP:  To make alignment and stamping easier, use the Stamparatus.
  • Use the following Stampin’ Blends:  Smoky Slate (light & dark for the milk can), Mint Macaron (light & dark for leaves),  Rich Razzleberry (dark for the berries), Daffodil Delight (dark for the center flower) and Cajun Craze (light and dark for the seed pods).
  • For the cotton bolls, add small touches of the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint and heat set.  TIP:  Work quickly as the puff paint is very thin (little goes a long way) and can dissolve the stamped image.  I suggest doing a section at a time.  Add a small amount of the Puff Paint, heat set and repeat.  If you look closely at my photo, you’ll notice the stamped image started to dissolve giving a “dirty” appearance to the cotton bolls.  Of course, cotton bolls aren’t all pristine white!
  • For the interior sentiment, stamp it with the Pretty Peacock on the other Whisper White panel.  The sentiment is from the Country Home Stamp Set. If desired, stamp the wheat sheath from the Gather Together using Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Pad to the side of the sentiment.
  • To complete the card,  add the panels to the Pretty Peacock fun fold piece with adhesive.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this Fall Fun Fold.  Credit for the fun fold goes to Dawn Olchefske at DO Stamping with Dawn.  She featured the fun fold on a project and I added the design to my “give it a try” list.  Now you can add it to your list!

Craft Fair Project

Happy Friday!  Hope you have plans for a fun and relaxing weekend.  Today I am sharing a project from last year’s 12 Weeks of Christmas newsletter.  Newsletter recipients received a variety of holiday project and gift ideas.  This project, stamped tile coasters,  is perfect as a craft fair project and is not holiday specific.  The coasters are stamped with the flower from the Beautiful Day stamp set.   We’re approaching the time of year when crafters are planning projects for fall and winter craft sales.  This is a quick, easy project and would be great for a craft fair or just as a gift.  Even better, you can make multiple sets at the same time.

Stampin’ Up! Project Materials:
  • Beautiful Day Stamp Set (#151257)
  • Stazon Jet Black Pad (#101406)
  • Stazon Jet Black refill (#102566)
  • Stampin’ Blends: Flirty Flamingo Light (#147031); Rich Razzleberry Light (#144584); Real Red Light (#147933); Highland Heather Light (#146881); Shaded Spruce Light (#147936); and Mango Melody Dark (#147983)
Other Materials:
  • 4″ x 4″ marble tumbled tiles
  • adhesive backed felt or adhesive backed cork for bottom of tiles
Directions:
  1. Wipe tiles with damp cloth to remove dust. Allow to dry.
  2. Ink stamp with Stazon Jet Black – be sure that ink pad is well inked.
  3. Stamp the image onto the tile using even pressure and hold for approximately 30 secs. to ensure that ink adheres to the tile.
  4. Allow to dry for approximately 5 minutes before coloring with Stampin’ Blends.
  5. Select desired Stampin’ Blends colors and color image. (refer to tips below before coloring)
  6. Put tiles into 250F oven for 20 minute (note: I put in oven, turned it off and left in overnight). Let cool before applying the adhesive tabs to bottom of tile.

TIPS:  Since Stazon ink is not recommended for use with Stampin’ Blends below are tips for coloring onto the tiles using the Blends:

  • Keep a paper towel handy to wipe the tip of the Blends often to remove any Stazon that may transfer to the tip of the Blends, especially with light colors.
  • In small areas (such as flower center), stipple with the tip of the Blends to color. Do not brush the
    image to color.
  • For the larger sections of the stamped image, use short strokes to color and color just up to but not over the Stazon ink.
  • Remember to wipe blends tip on paper towels.

Rare Blessings

Can you believe it’s August already!  Where is time going?  Currently here in middle Georgia, we’re experiencing the hot, humid days of summer.  So, it’s the perfect time to stay indoors and craft!

Today’s card features the Rare Blessings Stamp Set and if you’re looking for a simple card to create, this one has you covered.  Recently, a friend had asked if I could make a simple, blank card (no sentiment) for them to use.  The Rare Blessings set was on my desk, so I thought it would be perfect to use.  Since the flower in the stamp set is delicate in appearance, I decided to use a soft color scheme of Purple Posy and Soft Sea Foam.  The flower image was first stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using the Soft Sea Foam and Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends Sets.  The Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends highlights the center stamen petals of the flower.  Using the Stitched Rectangles Dies, a frame is created from the Soft Sea Foam cardstock to highlight the flower image.

A Rare Blessing

The interior of the card could not be completely blank!  So, the small flower from the stamp set was stamped and colored to add an extra touch.

Add a comment and let me know what color scheme you’d like to see used with this stamp set.  I’ll use it on a future post.

Live, Laugh, Love

For a recent birthday card, the Beautiful You stamp set was selected for the design. The Live, Laugh, Love phrase and the carefree lady dancing is perfect for my friend.  She is the embodiment of the Live with passion, Laugh out loud and Love deeply.  Do you have such a friend?  I can truly say my friend enjoys life to the fullest and her enthusiasm for life is contagious. When times are hectic, I like to think of her and smile.

Live Laugh Love from Beautiful You Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

Card Details:

The card base is Balmy Blue cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/4″, score at 4-1/4″ for standard card size).  See the coordinating ribbon?  Create is by using Balmy Blue Ink Refill to color the Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Ribbon.  It’s easy – add a couple of drops of the ink refill to a plastic bag, insert the ribbon and massage the bag to color the ribbon.  Remove and allow to dry before using. In a hurry,  use your heat tool on low to dry the ribbon.  To test that the ribbon is dry, I pull it through a folded piece of paper towel.  This also helps dry the ribbon and evenly disperse the ink.

The Designer Series Paper layer is retiring. Yes, of course,  I am still trying to use up as much retiring paper as possible!  The paper is the Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack.  It is cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″.

With the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp the lady using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  With the Stamparatus, align the sentiment phrase in upper right corner of the card layer and stamp using the black ink.  To color the lady, a selection of Stampin’ Blends were chosen.  For the dress, use Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends with highlights of Light Daffodil Delight.  The hat color is Daffodil Delight.  For skin color, use the Ivory Stampin’ Blends and the Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends color the water puddle.  Attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Reminders:

Check the Last Chance Products List for items that are retiring on June 3.  Quantities on some items are limited.  Tomorrow, May 30 at 12 PM (MT), Stampin’ Up! is discounting some of the Last Chance Products up to 30%.  So, be sure to check my Online Store!

Accented Blooms

Do you like to color?  The Accented Blooms set is the perfect stamp for coloring!  Since  graduation season is nearing, Congratulatory cards seem to always be in need.  So, today’s card showcases the Accented Blooms stamp set transformed into a congratulatory card.  Though the stamp set does not include a congratulatory message, it is easy to select a sentiment from another stamp set.  The Congratulations sentiment on this card is from the Lilypad Lake stamp set.  After stamping, the sentiment is cut with the coordinating die to create a banner.   Since the floral stamp resembles a field of wildflowers, a variety of Stampin’ Blends colors are chosen to color the flowers.  Notice the Whisper White edging along the card layer panel?   It is a small touch that adds additional visual interest.  Read the card details below the photo to find out were to find the edging die.

Congratulations using Accented Blooms

Card Details:
  1. Card base is Daffodil Delight cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ score at 4-1/4″ to create a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ card).
  2. Stamp the Accented Blooms bouquet onto a 4″ x 4″ square of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
  3. Color the blooms on using Stampin’ Blends.  The Stampin’ Blends colors for this card are: Light and Dark Daffodil Delight, Dark Mango Melody, Light Balmy Blue, Light and Dark Old Olive, Light Mossy Meadow, Light and Dark Highland Heather, Light and Dark Petal Pink, and Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo.  Since the card base is Daffodil Delight, touches of the Daffodil Delight blends is colored on the centers of each flower.  Remember – blending different colors of the Stampin’ Blends creates visual interest!
  4. With the lace edge die from the Be Mine Stitched Dies, cut two strips to add along the side edges of the 4″ x 4″ panel.  Attach to the back of the panel using desired adhesive.
  5. Use the Tailored Tag Punch to cut a tag from a scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock.
  6. Stamp the congratulatory sentiment in the Lilypad Lake stamp set using the Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Afterwards, cut with the coordinating banner die from Lakeside Dies.
  7. Assemble the card as follows: center and attach panel to card front.  Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the Daffodil Delight tag in the tag area of the blooms.  Next, use mini glue dots to attach the Congratulations banner across the Tailored Tag.
  8. Embellish the tag with the Daffodil Delight sequins from the Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins package.
Today’s Tips!
  • Mix it up with other stamps to create another design.  The beauty of the Accented Blooms set is the tag area. There are a variety of sentiments that will fit the area. This enables you to utilize more of your stamp sets for a variety of occasions.
  • Look at all of your die pieces to see if there is a die that will add a “little something” to your card.  The lace edge from the Be Mine Stitched Dies is a perfect example.

Remember to check the Last Chance retiring products list.  We’re midway through May and you’ll want to get your favorite products before they are gone!  Plus if you prefer wood mount stamps, order now as they are retiring.
