November 3-D Blog Hop

It’s time for the November 3-D  Blog Hop! We were formerly the 3-D Tutorial Blog Hop but decided to make the transition to a 3-D Blog Hop.  This enables us to offer you 3-D project and instructions directly on our blogs each month.  This month we are featuring 3-D Christmas projects for you. So be sure to “hop along” to see the creative projects designed for you to use this holiday season!

One of my favorite small gifts each season are the Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers.  Of course, this year the hand sanitizers are a necessity!  I enjoy creating unique packaging for the hand sanitizers when presenting to friends and family.  A small inexpensive gift becomes special when specially wrapped.  Today’s packaging features the Snowflake Flake Wishes bundle.

Hand Sanitiz

Project Materials:
  • Balmy Blue cardstock:
    • Base: 1-3/4″ x 10″ score at 4-1/2″ and 5-1/2″
    • Band: 1″ x 6″ score at 1/2″, 2-1/4″, 3-1/4″ and 5″
  • Silver Foil: 2 pcs – 2″ x 2″ for snowflakes
  • Balmy Blue Gimmer Paper: 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ & 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ for snowflakes
  • Whisper White cardstock: 2″ x 2″ & 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ for snowflakes; 1/2″ x 2-1/2″ for sentiment
  • So Many Snowflakes Dies
  • Winter Snow Embossing Folder
  • Scalloped Tag Topper Punch
  • Banners Pick A Punch
  • Curvy Christmas Stamp Set
  • Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad
  • Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon: 6″
  • Blue Adhesive Backed Gems
To create holder base:
  1. First, punch the top and bottom of the 10″ strip of the Balmy Blue with the Scalloped Tag Topper.
  2. Then, texture emboss using the Winter Snow Embossing Folder.  Note: slide each side of the holder strip into the embossing folder up to the score line on each side.  To seal the top, match the scalloped edges and close with glue dots.
  3. Now, wrap the band around the holder and seal the overlapping piece with a strong adhesive (Tear & Tape, Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive or Stampin’ Seal+).  TIP: do not attach the band to the holder base but use it to slide up/down to insert or remove the hand sanitizer.
Embellishing Hand Sanitizer Holder
  1. Cut the snowflakes using the mid-sized and smallest snowflake dies.  For my snowflakes, I cut the following: two Silver Foil using the same medium sized snowflake die; Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper: one using the 2nd largest snowflake die & one using the smallest snowflake die and from Whisper White cardstock: one small snowflake and one medium snowflake.  Create the snowflakes by layering the pieces and attaching each with glue dots.  To complete each snowflake, add a Blue Adhesive Backed Gem to the center. Notice, you will have one snowflake that is slightly larger than the other. Below is a photo of the dies used:
  2. Using Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad, stamp the sentiment onto the Whisper White strip.  Then, create the banner end using the Banners Pick A Punch.
  3. Wrap the Silver Metallic ribbon around the holder band and adhere.  TIP: place the seam on the front of the band so you can cover it with a snowflake.
  4. Add the largest snowflake with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional placing it over the seam where the ribbon overlaps.
  5. With glue dots, add the sentiment banner to the top of the holder.
  6. Finish by adding the remaining snowflake to the top of the holder beside the sentiment using a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.  Insert the sanitizer into the holder.
See how easy it is to make the hand sanitizer holders?

Remember, you can create a holders for a variety of occasions just by using different embossing folders and dies.

Color Challenge Project

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a day-long FB event hosted by another demonstrator.  It’s always fun to attend events to learn new techniques and gather ideas for paper crafting. And though it was a virtual event, we were still able to share and create with one another. During the event, the host posted a variety of challenges to engage attendees.  One was a color challenge project – we were to select 3 or 4 colors from the colors provided to create our project.  The list of colors were Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana.  Since it was a challenge, rules included no CASE-ing of a project – only use for inspiration. Plus, it had to be a new project and not one previously shared.  We had 30 minutes to work on our color challenge project before the next presentation so I had to work quickly!

So what colors did I select for my project? I chose a color combination of Basic Black, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green. Since Christmas projects are on my agenda for the next several weeks, I wanted to create a card in non-traditional holiday colors. The Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder and the Pine Woods Dies work together perfectly for a quick card design.

Non-traditional Holiday Card

Card Details:
  1. Card base: 4-1/4″ x 11″ Granny Apple Green cardstock, scored at 5-1/2″ and folded.  Note: card is a side opening card.
  2. Layer one: Basic Black cardstock – 5-1/4″ x 4″.  Attach to card base with Stampin’ Seal+ or Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  3. Layer two: Coastal Cabana cardstock – 5″ x 3-3/4″.  Texture emboss using the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder. Then using a sponge dauber, dab the raised evergreen trees with Frost White Shimmer Paint.  Allow to dry for a few minutes before attaching to the Basic Black cardstock layer.
  4. Select pine tree die and use to cut the design from the Rainbow Glimmer Paper using the portion with the Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green colors. With paper snips, cut and remove the tree trunk to create an evergreen tree.
  5. Cut a 3-1/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock and a 2-3-4″ x 1-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  Stamp the sentiment using Coastal Cabana Classic Ink Pad onto the Whisper White label.  TIP:  position the sentiment so that there is area to overlap the tree onto the label. Happy Holidays is from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set. Layer the two labels.
  6. Position the tree overlapping the label and attach with adhesive.  Next, add Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the label and to the tree branches, cutting as needed, then attach to the  card front.
  7. Complete by embellishing the sentiment with Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

It was lots of fun to participate in the color challenge!  Which color combination would you select?  Comment and let me know!

Poinsettia Crisscross Pocket Card

In a previous post, I shared my card design for a recent Shoebox Swap that I attended.  Today, one of the cards from another card maker is being highlighted.  It is a poinsettia crisscross pocket card and absolutely gorgeous!  Linda Edwards, at Crafty Heron Designs, prepared the materials so each attendee could create the card.  Not only did Linda present this card design but she also hosted the event.  It was a delightful day and all in attendance had a wonderful time.Crisscross card

Isn’t the card beautiful?

It was simple to cut the poinsettia flower from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Poinsettia Dies.  I just love it when images from designer series papers have dies that coordinate!  To showcase the poinsettia, the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper provides the perfect base.  The crisscross card is cut 1/4″ smaller and mounted onto a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock.  The combination of Whisper White and Very Vanilla makes an elegant card.  Notice how one side of the crisscross is topped with the designer series paper and the other is texture embossed.  This adds an extra WOW element.  For the sentiment card, stamp with Versamark  and heat emboss using Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then, layer atop a piece of gold foil paper.  To create a pull for the card interior, punch a slit using the Label Me Fancy Punch and thread ribbon though slit.

Freezin’ Fun Friends

Earlier this week, I hosted a Facebook Live demonstration for the Playtime with Paper team.  During the live presentation, the Freezin’ Fun Bundle was used to make two cards.  One of the cards from the presentation is the Freezin’ Fun Friends.  So, I’m sharing the card and some of the details with you.  The sentiments in the Freezin’ Fun Cling Stamp Set are great to use on projects throughout winter.  Plus with the coordinating Freezin’ Friends Dies, it’s easy to stamp and cut many of the images in the stamp set.  And if you like coloring – you’ll have lots of fun coloring the images!

Freezin' Fun

Card Details:

Create a card base using Whisper White Thick cardstock cut at 4-1/4″ x 11″.  Score at 5-1/2″ and fold for a top fold card.  For the background layer, use  the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper.  Select the page design with the snowy mountain background at the top and cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″.  NOTE: Be sure to cut the 4″ width first. You’ll want the mountains to be near the top fold of the card.  With Stampin’ Seal, attach to the card base.

To create the ski hills for the friends, use two pieces of Whisper White cardstock (4″ x 3″ & 4″ x 2-1/2″) and cut with the sloping stitched die from the Freezin’ Friends dies.  TIP: Slant the die across the cardstock at different angles and then die cut to achieve the desired look.  After die-cutting the ski hills,  attach to the mountain layer placing the larger ski hill onto the layer first.  Then, attach the second ski hill layer. To add shimmer and sheen, use Clear Wink of Stella and swipe it across the Whisper White ski hills.

For the Images:

Stamp the skiing bunny, the penguin and the snowboard onto Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Color using the following Stampin’ Blends:

  • Skiing Bunny: skis – Dark Smoky Slate; outline bunny with Light Gray Granite, center of ears & nose: Dark Petal Pink; scarf – Light Pool Party, ski pole tip – Light Daffodil Delight; ski pole – Light Smoky Slate
  • Penguin: Light & Dark Smoky Slate for body, Beak & Feet – Light Pumpkin Pie; scarf & hat – Light & Dark Real Red – use color lifter to create highlights
  • Snowboard: Bronze

After coloring each of the images, use the coordinating dies to cut the shapes.  Add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamp the sentiment onto a 3/4″ x 3″ strip of Whisper White cardstock using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Cut ends using the Banners Pick A Punch.  Layer onto a 1″ x 3-1/2″ strip of Misty Moonlight cardstock with the ends cut with the punch. Attach to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Finish card by embellishing with the Adhesive Backed Snowflakes.

It was fun creating this Freezin’ Fun Friends card and coloring the fun images!  Be sure to nab this bundle and add it to your collection so you can create fun, winter theme cards.
