Female Golfer Birthday

Do you have friends that enjoy golf?  I do! And as a golfer myself, I hear from friends how difficult it is to find golf themed birthday cards especially for females. Today’s project is a female golfer birthday card that was made for a friend’s recent birthday. In the current Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!, the Country Club Suite offers a selection of products perfect for creating golf themed cards and projects for both the male and female golfer.   Father’s Day will soon be here and I’ll be using the set for a special golf themed card for my husband.  The card below features the Country Club Designer Series Paper and the Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder.  Act quickly though, the Country Club Suite is retiring and the last day to order products from the suite is June 2 or while supplies last.

Card Details:
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″; score at 5-1/2″ to create card base.  Place card front into the Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder (will be available in the new Annual Catalog) and texture emboss.
  • Country Club Designer Series Paper: background layer 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″.  NOTE: do not attach to card base yet.
  • Country Club Designer Series Paper: select golfer image from paper and cut with a Layering Circles Die.
  • Color the golfer image.  For the female golfer on the card, the following Stampin’ Blends Markers are used: Ivory (skin), Light Balmy Blue (skirt), Light & Dark Old Olive (trees) Color Lifter (trees), Soft Suede (tree trunks)
  • To emphasize the image, Seaside Spray Classic Ink is lightly sponged behind the golfer and trees.
  • Sponge a small amount of Garden Green Classic Ink along line of the tree bases to mimic grass.
  • Add the golfer circle to the Country Club Designer Series Paper layer so that the right edge overhangs the designer series paper.  Turn over and cut the overhanging piece.  Refer to card photo noting the right side of circle is cut.  Now attach to the card base using a strong adhesive.
  • Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Clubhouse Stamp Set using the Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut with coordinating die from the Golf Club Dies.  TIP: order the Clubhouse Bundle which includes the stamp set and the dies – you’ll save 10%.
  • Next, attach the sentiment to a strip of Garden Green cardstock with Snail adhesive.
  • Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, add the sentiment to the card and embellish with small Basic Rhinestone Jewels.

The Country Club Suite will definitely get lots of use in my craft room!

Just a reminder:

Scrappy Strip Technique

Have you seen the Scrappy Strip card technique?  It’s a fun technique and is a great way to use scraps of cardstock or designer series paper.  The amazing Bruno Bertucci (husband of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Kylie Bertucci) shared the technique on Kylie’s You Tube Channel.  So naturally, I decided to try the technique and selected the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper for the card.  If you recall from a previous post, the paper is part of the Ornate Garden Suite Early Release.  Since it’s an early release, it’s available to order until May 31 and then will be available again on June 3 when the new Annual Catalog “goes live.”  In addition to using the designer series paper, I included strips of cardstock.  Look closely and you’ll see that the cardstock strips are texture embossed using the Ornate Garden 3D Embossing Folder.  Notice how it adds extra dimension.

Scrappy Strip Technique

Card Materials:
  • Card Base: Terracotta Tile cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″ and fold)
  • Layer 1: Early Espresso cardstock (5-1/4″ x 4″)
  • Layer 2 and base for strips: Early Espresso cardstock (5″ x 3-3/4″)
  • Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper (select 2 patterns) approximate sizes: 5-1/2″ x 6″ and 5-1/2″ x 4″
  • Terracotta Tile (5-1/2″ x 3″)
  • Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder
  • So Sentimental Stamp Set
  • Terracotta Tile Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Stitched Shapes Dies (use the 2nd largest Oval Die)
  • Terracotta Tile Ribbon – 8″ to wrap around card panel and additional to tie a small bow (from Ornate Garden Combo Ribbon)
  • Whisper White cardstock: 2-1/4″ x 3″ for sentiment, 5-1/4″ x 4″ for interior
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
Card Directions & Assembly:
  1. Use the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder to texture emboss the 5-1/3″ x 3″ piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock.
  2. A total of 9 strips will be needed for the card – 7 strips from the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP (6 for front of card, 1 for the interior) and 2 strips from the Terracotta Tile cardstock. (For this card, 4 strips were cut from one pattern and the remaining from the coordinating pattern of DSP.) To cut strips, angle your paper on cutter and cut strip – flip paper and repeat until you have enough strips. NOTE: an exact measurement isn’t needed and you can cut strips as wide or as narrow as wanted. The key is to cut at an angle.
  3. Attach the first strip to the 5″ x 3-3/4″ Early Espresso cardstock layer. When attaching, line up the first angled piece with the edge of the card.
  4. Add remaining strips to the card, spacing evenly across the panel front.
  5. Flip the scrappy strip layer over and trim the overhanging pieces evenly with the Early Espresso cardstock.
  6. Attach the Scrappy Strip panel to the 5-1/4″ x 4″ Early Espresso cardstock layer.
  7. Wrap the 8″ piece of Terracotta Tile ribbon around the panel. Attach the panel to the Terracotta Tile card base using a strong adhesive.
  8. Stamp the sentiment onto the 2-1/4″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using Terracotta Tile Classic Stampin’ Pad and cut using the Stitched Shapes Oval Die.
  9. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the sentiment to the card front and add a small bow to the side of the sentiment.
  10. Embellish the interior of the card with the extra scrappy strip.

Pull out those scraps of paper and try the Scrappy Strip Technique. It’s an addicting technique!

Ornate Style Floral

Happy Monday!  Today I am sharing an Ornate Style floral bouquet featuring the large floral spray from the Ornate Style Cling Stamp Set.  This stamp set is one of the products in the Ornate Garden Suite Early Release.  The floral image begs to be colored with markers or using watercolor techniques.  For today’s card, Stampin’ Blends Markers are used.

Ornate Style Floral

Card Details:
  • Create card base using Rococo Rose (5-1/2″ x 11″, score at 4-1/4″ and fold).

  • Stamp the sentiment, Thinking of You, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.  Next, layer the sentiment piece onto a 4″ x 3/4″ strip of Rococo Rose cardstock.  Set aside to add to card after adding the floral piece.
  • Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamp the large floral onto a 4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Diamond Easel Card for Mother’s Day

Check out this beautiful Diamond Easel Card!  Before being required to shelter-in-place, our community craft club held its monthly meeting.  At the meeting a member of the Playtime with Paper team, Beneta, led the class in making the card design.  I choose a Mother’s Day sentiment and will be sending the card to my mother.  For our cards, the Good Morning Magnolia Bundle and coordinating Magnolia Lane Designer Series paper combine to create this beautiful fancy fun fold card.

Diamond Easel Card

For full details on creating a Diamond Easel Card be sure to check out Susan Levasseur’s post at this link: www.wownolacreations.com. Making the Diamond Easel Card was a huge success at the craft club meeting.  A big “Thank You” to Beneta for leading the club in creating the card!
