Before I share my project using the Best Catch Stamp Set, I want to first check in to see how you’re doing? Have you remained healthy? Are you adjusting to the guidelines for dealing with the pandemic? I hope the answers are positive. For me it’s certainly been an adjustment. My grandson, Alex, has online school and since both parents are still working, I have been helping out as teacher’s aide and staying in Atlanta. Since we’re practicing limited contact, Alex stays with me during the week before going home for the weekend. Then, I head out of Atlanta to our home from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Then back to Atlanta for another week of school. It’s been great bonding time but I do miss be able to go into my craft cave. Plus I miss the monthly card classes and spending time sharing my passion for paper crafting with others. This weekend, I am burying myself in my craft cave and hope to complete additional projects to share with you.
Today’s card a great masculine card featuring the Best Catch Stamp Set and coordinating Catch of the Day Dies. Since my youngest son enjoys fishing, I knew the set would be perfect to create a card for his recent birthday. The High Tide Stamp Set offers the perfect stamp for creating the water and shoreline.
Card Details:
Card base: Old Olive cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″, score at 5-1/2″ and fold.
Second Layer: Crumb Cake cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″. Texture emboss using the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder. Attach to the card base.
Card front layer: Whisper White cardstock 3-3/4″ x 5″. With the shoreline stamp from the High Tide Stamp Set, stamp along the lower edge of the card using Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Pad.
Next, create the “water” with the High Tide Stamp Set using Seaside Spray Classic Stampin’ Pad. Stamp approximately half way up the card piece. Create the sky by using a sponge dauber to lightly add the Seaside Spray ink to the remainder of the card. Attach to the embossed Crumb Cake layer using a strong adhesive.
Using the cattails die from Catch of the Day Dies and from Friendly Silhouettes Dies, to cut Whisper White cardstock. (Note: you can cut multiples of cattails from the Catch of the Day if you do not have the Friendly Silhouettes dies). Color the cattails using the light and dark Mossy Meadow blends, the Color Lifter and the Soft Suede Dark Blends. Add to card using mini glue dots.
For the Fish:
On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the fish using Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad. Color the fish using the following Stampin’ Blends: Mossy Meadow Light, Soft Sea Foam Light, Old Olive Light, Calypso Coral Light. If desired, use the Color Lifter to lighten areas. Lightly wash over the fish with Clear Wink of Stella. Cut the fish using the coordinating Catch of the Day die. Next, add the fish to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp sentiment using Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and cut using the 1-1/2″ circle punch. TIP: look at photo for placement of the sentiment – punch so sentiment is on lower right part of the circle so you have room to add the fishing hat. Add to card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use Soft Suede to stamp the hat outline and color with the Soft Suede Light Blends. After coloring, cut using the coordinating die from Catch of the Day Dies and attach to the sentiment using Mini Glue Dots.
Lastly, don’t forget the envelope! Stamp the fishing basket onto the front with Soft Suede and color using the Soft Suede Light Stampin’ Blends. TIP: to prevent the ink from bleeding through the envelope, insert a piece of scrap paper or post-it note before stamping and coloring.
It was lots of fun creating this card and I have plans to use the Best Catch set again for another male relative.

While practicing social distancing guidelines, I am taking the opportunity to use some of the kits from Stampin’ Up! Currently, I am using the For The Love of Felt Project Kit and the coordinating Stamp Set. Thus, I can continue to set aside snippets of time crafting while still acting as “teacher’s aide” for my grandson. Best of all, with the kit directions it’s doesn’t require that I spend valuable time coming up with card designs. And the Love of Felt Project Kit is beautiful! Here’s one of the completed cards:
Components separated and ready to make another of the cards! Best of all, a beautiful storage box is included for the finished cards.
The kit contains fun felt flowers with layers to add texture and dimension to the handmade cards. The kit includes materials to make 12 full sized cards. There are 4 cards each of 3 different designs. In addition to the project kit and coordinating stamp set, the following items are recommended: Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand and Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ Pads; Stampin’ Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Snail Adhesive and Paper Snips.
In the video below, Stampin’ Up! provides a short overview of the For the Love of Felt Project Kit and assembly:

As we adjust to social distancing and a change in our routines, my focus has been on family so my posts have been few. It’s not that I’ve not had intentions to share projects with you but my mind has been elsewhere. I’m sure many of you can relate. Even though my posting has not been timely, I have found refuge in my craft space. For me, it’s relaxing and a great respite from the virus news each day. I hope you’re able to set aside time from your day to enjoy your crafting endeavors. Be sure to share how you’re coping in the comment section at the end of the blog.
Remember a few weeks ago, I said “March Madness” was coming? Well, we’re in the midst of a slew of March birthdays. The most recent to celebrate is my grandson, Alex, who turned 11. So, today I’m sharing Alex’s birthday card. He’s a budding musician and eclectic music lover. When I saw the Music From The Heart Stamp Set in the Mini Catalog, I knew it would be perfect to use when making cards for Alex. One of the instruments that Alex plays is the guitar so I used a couple of the stamps from the set to create a guitar for his card. A Night of Navy color scheme was chosen so it would have a masculine feel.
Alex’s Birthday Card Details:
Starting with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock, score at 5-1/2″ and fold to create the card base.
Cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Night of Navy striped paper from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper. Attach to the Night of Navy card base.
Create layers three (3) and four (4) by use the Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and a piece of Whisper White cardstock.
Create a guitar by stamping with the Music From the Heart stamp set and Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad. Stamp the “you rock” onto the card referring to photo for approximate placement.
The word “grandson” is stamped using the Make a Difference Stamp Set onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. After stamping, cut around the word and attach to top card layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
With the music note stamps, ink the stamps and stamp off twice before randomly stamping music notes onto the card front layer around the guitar. By stamping off, the guitar stands out more. Also use the music notes to stamp the envelope – no need to stamp off for the envelope.
Attach the top layer to the Navy Stitched Rectangle using adhesive. Add to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For the interior, Happy Birthday and a musical note scale is stamped to complete the card theme.
According to Alex, “the card was cool”. Which is his way of saying he liked the card!

Have you seen the Coordination Product Release from Stampin’ Up? Today, I am sending flowers featuring the Sending Flowers Dies from the Coordination Product Release. In addition, you’ll also see use of the Special Day Dies from the product release. The Coordination Product Release features items which coordinate with products from Sale-A-Bration as well as the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. I’ll add the link below so you can check out the products available but first onto the card.
The beauty of the Sending Flowers Dies is the main die featuring a field of flowers which creates the focal point for a card. You can cut your cardstock, add color on the flowers, attach to a card base, add a sentiment banner and you’re done! And if you want, add an extra touch or two. Look closely at the card below. Notice the mouse in the field of flowers. I couldn’t resist placing the mouse in the flowers…it’s so darn cute! The Special Days Dies coordinate with the Special Someone Stamp Set making it easy to stamp and cut the mouse. Just a note, the Coordination Product Release ends on March 31, 2020, so you’ll want to place your order soon!
Card Details:
Create a card base using Coastal Cabana cardstock (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″ and fold).
Next, add a layer of the gingham check (4″ x 5-1/2″) from the Pleased As Punch Designer Series Paper. (this is another Coordination Product Release!)
Use the large circle flowers die in the Sending Flowers Dies to cut a 4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Color the stems of the flowers using the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. TIP: Color up into the flower petal to ensure that each stem is completely colored when you add the flowers. Cut a variety of flowers from cardstock using the flower dies in the set. The cardstock colors on the card above are: Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather, Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral. Another tip: this is a great way to use your scraps of cardstock! After cutting the flowers, attach to the flowers on the stems using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Cut a 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″ piece of the coastal cabana designer series paper from the Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper. Attach to the back of the flower square using adhesive.
Add the field of flowers to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals leaving room for the sentiment banner at the bottom of the card.
Stamp the sentiment, “glad we’re friends” from the Fable Friends Stamp Set, using Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock. Cut the banner shape using the die from the Sending Flowers Dies. Wrap linen thread around the side of the banner three times and tie into a small bow. Attach to the card using Dimensionals.
For the mouse, stamp using the Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Cut with the coordinating die from the Special Days Die set. Add a mini glue dot to the back of the mouse and tuck into the field of flowers.
To complete the card front, add small Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the centers of the flowers.
Of course, you can’t forget the inside of the card or the envelope!
In addition to using cardstock on the flowers, you can color them using your Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Markers or sponge daubers with ink. It’ll be fun using different coloring methods.
Follow this link: Coordination Product Release to see the products available. Again, remember the products are only available through the end of this month.

This weekend we’re celebrating our granddaughter Brooklynn’s 3rd birthday. Of course, Brooklynn’s birthday card must be in her favorite color – purple. Therefore, I used several shades of purple on the card. The New Wonders Stamp Set is perfect creating a card for a 3 year old girl. She’s a fan of Frozen and though the girl in the stamp set isn’t Elsa or Anna, I don’t think Brooklynn will care. But, I know she will like the card!
Card Directions:
Create a card base using a 4-1/4″ x 11-1/2″ piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock. Score at 5-1/2″ and fold to use as a side opening card.
Add a layer of 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Highland Heather plaid designer series paper from the 6″ x 6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper package.
Refer to card photo for placement of stamping images and sentiment. Stamp the image from the New Wonders stamp set onto a 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad.
Use Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin’ Pad to stamp the sentiment on the card. The words Happy Birthday are from the Well Said Stamp Set and “3 rd” stamps are from the Make A Difference Stamp Set.
Use Stampin’ Blends in the following colors for the girl image: Ivory (face, hands and feet); Daffodil Delight Combo and Light Soft Suede (hair), Purple Posy Combo (for top) and Highland Heather Combo (for skirt), Light Seaside Spray (wings) and Smoky Slate Combo for the ink pen. When coloring, use the Color Lifter to help with shading. Light Real Red Stampin’ Blend colors the hearts. Add Clear Wink of Stella to the skirt for a touch of shimmer.
Cut the Whisper White with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Attach to the center of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Complete by tying a knotted bow using the Purple Tricolor Ribbon and adding to card front with a mini glue dot.
Oh, don’t forget to stamp the interior too…
I can’t wait to see Brooklynn’s face when she opens the card along with her gift. Purple is definitely the theme!
The New Wonders stamp set is available for order is you are host. Contact me for more details.

It’s a new month and to kick it off, we have the March 3D Tutorial Bundle! In addition to the March 3D Tutorial Bundle, the team is featuring a blog hop. We’re each sharing a project created to coordinate with our tutorial project. The theme for this month is Spring Celebrations.

Here’s a Sneak Peek of the March 3D projects…
For my coordinating project, I designed an Easter card by combining several stamp sets. Don’t you agree the “little chick” from the Full of Happiness Stamp Set is cute and makes you think of Easter? Want to use the card for another Spring celebration? Just change out the sentiment.
Card Details:
Create card base using a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock. Score at 4-1/4″ and fold along score line.
Use a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock for the second layer. Attach to the card base with adhesive.
Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5″ x 3-3/4″. On the right side of the cardstock, stamp the chick from the Full of Happiness stamp set. Use Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad for the body, Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin’ Pad for the feet and beak and Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad for the eyes.
On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the egg shell outline using Sahara Sand Classic Stampin’ Pad. If desired, add the speckles using the same color. Cut using the coordinating Dino Dies.
Use the egg shell as a guide to determine where to stamp the greenery vines from the Thoughtful Blooms Stamp Set (this is a Sale-a-Bration Stamp Set, you can get it free with a $50 order!). Remove the egg shell and stamp the vine using Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin’ Pad. Also, stamp part of the vine below the chick’s feet. Stamp small flowers on the vine using Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin’ Pad.
Stamp “Easter Greetings” sentiment from Fable Friends Stamp Set on the card using the Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin’ Pad.
With adhesive, add to the Granny Apple Green layer.
Adhere the egg shell to the card front.
With the Small Bloom Punch (Sale-a-Bration brochure offering), cut 5 flowers from the Pleased As Punch Designer Series Paper.
Using the open leaves dies in the Detailed Bands Dies, cut 2 sets of leaves. Snip into pieces to length desired. Add to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.
Next, position the 5 flower blooms so they are cascading from the egg shell and attach using Mini Glue Dots. Lastly, complete the card by adding Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of each flower.
