Experience Creativity with Tags

Last week, I shared a Stampin’ Up! video highlighting a stamp set from the Experience Creativity Brochure.  Today, I’m sharing the Delightful Day Tags Bundle project from the brochure.  All of the items that Sarah is featuring in the video are available in the Experience Creativity Brochure and in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.   Watch as Sarah shows how easy it is to create gift tags for boxes, bags and other treat packaging.  If you are a beginning stamper, this is a fun first project.

A Pressed Petals Bouquet

Have you seen the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper on pages 74 & 167 in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog?  It is absolutely gorgeous! The lightweight paper features photographic images of real pressed flowers on one side of the paper.  So when designing this card, I decided to use the photo of the Pressed Petals Bouquet on one of the papers. By using the Heirloom Frames Dies, a large oval helps to highlight the bouquet.  As an extra touch, the coordinating Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape creates a flower to embellish the card. Scroll below for more card details.

pressed petals bouquet

Card Base Details:

Create the card base using Crumb Cake cardstock (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, score and fold at 4-1/4″), Use the Oval Heirloom Frames Die from the Heirloom Frames Dies and 3-D Embossing Folders to cut a large oval from a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Merry Merlot cardstock.  Cut the Pressed Petals Bouquet image from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Paper.  Attach the Merry Merlot frame to the photo of the Pressed Petals Bouquet using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.  TIP:  Before adhering, check DSP placement.  If the DSP extends past frame, trim before adhering the frame.  Once the liquid adhesive has dried, add the framed Pressed Petals Bouquet layer to the card front using adhesive.

Finishing Touches:

The “Hello There” greeting is from the Here’s A Card stamp set.  Create a Crumb Cake cardstock tag using the Banner Triple Punch and stamp the sentiment using Merry Merlot Classic Stampin’ Pad.  On the left side of the tag, use five of the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape petals to create a flower.  TIP:  After placing the petals, use the Embossing Buddy to dust the back of the flower petals to prevent them from sticking to the card.  Stamp two sets of leaves (from the Floral Essence Stamp Set) using Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad onto Vellum cardstock.  Use the heat tool to dry the ink.  Once the ink is completely dry, use the leaf punch to cut the leaves.  Use mini glue dots to tuck the leaves behind the flower.  Attach the tag to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then, complete by adding a Perennial Essence Floral Center to the flower.

Garden Lane Lotion Holder

At last month’s Luv 2 Stamp meeting, one of the make ‘n take projects included a Garden Lane Lotion Holder.  Fellow team member, Cindee Wilkinson, created the team project and selected the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper for the project.  The holder is wonderful!  A 1-oz. tube of the Bath & Body Works hand lotion fits perfectly inside of the box.  However, it is of ample size to hold other small gifts or treats.  If you participate in craft sales, this is a must project for you to add to your list!  It takes time to create and you can decorate it with a variety of tags.

Materials:

  • Garden Lane Designer Series Paper (4-1/2″ x 6″)
  • Delightful Tag Topper Punch
  • Whisper White Cardstock (scrap for tag and for 1″ circle )
  • Stitched Nested Labels Dies
  • Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Pressed Petals Washi Tape
  • Embossing Buddy
  • 3/4″ circle punch
  • Perennial Essence Floral Center
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (scraps for leaves)
  • Magnolia Memories Dies (for leaves dies) or use the Leaf Punch
  • Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set
  • Tags and More Accessory Kit (Copper Clip)
  • Mint Macaron 1/4″ Textile Ribbon
  • Adhesives: Tear & Tape, Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals

You’ll find the directions for assembling the Garden Lane Lotion Holder on Cindee’s blog, Just Sponge It.  Just click on the link to be taken to the lotion holder instructions.

To create the tag:

Stamp the desired sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set using Garden Green Classic Stamp Pad onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (approximately 2″ x 2-1/4″).  Cut using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  Cut 2 leaves from the Mossy Meadow cardstock using the Magnolia Memory Dies.  Or, you may cut leaves using the leaf punch.  From a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, punch a 1″ circle.  Use the circle as a base for layering the Pressed Petals Washi Tape to create a flower.

TIP:  After placing the first layer of 4 petals on the circle, dust the back of the exposed petals with the Embossing Buddy to remove the stickiness.  Add next layer, and gently lift petals to apply dust from Embossing Buddy.  The petals will stay curled upwards and not stick to the bottom layer.

Complete the flower by adding a Perennial Essence Floral Center.  Add the two cut leaves to the back to the flower with mini glue dots and attach to the sentiment label using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Also use the dimensionals to attach the label to the lotion holder.  Close the lotion holder using the Copper Clip.  Tie a bow around the clip using the 1/4″ Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon.

A Beautiful Wild Rose

A Beautiful Wild Rose card is one of the projects from this month’s card classes.  It features using the To A Wild Rose photopolymer stamp set.  The Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog has lots of beautiful floral sets but the To A Wild Rose is definitely one of my favorites.  The stamp set also has coordinating Wild Rose Dies and is offered with a 10% discount in the To A Wild Rose Bundle.  Two-step stamping can be used with the stamps so that depth of colors can be added to the images.  However, the outline stamp is beautiful to use by itself.  For this card, the wild roses are stamped using the two-step stamping method and the masking technique was also utilized.  Additional details are below the card photos.wild rose

Card Details:
Materials:
  • To A Wild Rose Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Highland Heather, Whisper White, Garden Green & Vellum
  • Inks:  Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin’ Pad, Highland Heather Classic Stampin’ Pad, Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Dies: Wild Rose Dies, Stitched Nested Labels
  • 5/8″ Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon
  • Noble Peacock Rhinestones
  • Adhesives: Snail, Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals
Directions:
  1. Create the card base from a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock (score at 5-1/2″ & fold).  Add a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Highland Heather cardstock.
  2. Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock (3-3/4″ x 5″) to use for stamping the wild roses.
  3. Before stamping the roses onto the Whisper White cardstock, create a wild rose “mask” to use for covering the roses.   To create the mask, stamp the rose outline stamp onto a 3″ x 3″ post-it note.  Be sure to stamp near the adhesive strip. Fussy cut the rose.  Set aside to use for covering the roses before stamping the leaves to the card.  TIP:  make multiple masks to speed the stamping process.  Also, save the mask inside of the stamp case and you’ll have it for future use.
  4. Using the Wild Rose outline stamp, randomly stamp three of the rose outlines onto the Whisper White cardstock using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Refer to card photo for placement.  For the full rose stamp, use Highland Heather ink pad to color the  rose base.  For the final rose stamp, use the Rich Razzleberry ink pad.  Attach to card base using Snail adhesive.
  5. Place the “masks” over the stamped roses.  Stamp the leaves using Garden Green ink pad.  The leaves outline stamp and only one of the leaves layer stamp are used.
  6. With the Wild Rose Dies, cut 2 open leaves from a scrap of Garden Green cardstock and 3 of the small flowers from the Vellum cardstock.  Add them to the card with mini glue dots. TIP :  Prepare the sentiment layer (step 7) and use as a guide for placement of the embellishment pieces.
  7. Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and cut using the small Stitched Nested Labels Die.  With a larger Stitched Nested Labels Die, cut a scrap of the Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  Layer the two pieces using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Add to the card using Snail Adhesive.
  8. Complete the card by adding a Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon Bow and a Noble Peacock Rhinestone as seen in card photo.
Have fun coming up with your own color combinations using the To A Wild Rose stamp set.  Be sure to comment below what color combinations you select!

Maximizing Your Designer Series Paper

Earlier this week on a Facebook Live, I highlighted maximizing your Designer Series Paper.  Twelve cards can be made from one 12″ x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  The only scrap for the trash left after making the cuts is a 1/2″ x 1-1/2″ inch piece.  The Designer Series Paper in the sample cards is Painted Seasons.  This Designer Series Paper is a FREE Sale-a-Bration selection and is only available until March 31 (just a few more days!).  The twelve cards and cutting guide are shown below.

Cutting Guide:

Tips for cutting:

  1. Use the photo as your guide and cut the vertical lines first. In the photo, the pink arrows designate the vertical cut lines.
  2. Cut the first vertical line at a width of 4″.
  3. The next vertical cut is 3″ in width.
  4. The final vertical cut is 3-1/2″ in width.
  5. After completing these cuts, you will have a 4″ x 12″ strip, a 3″ x 12″ strip, a 3-1/2″ x 12″ strip and a 1-1/2″ x 12″ strip.
  6. Refer to the photo and cut the strips to the appropriate sizes for the cards.
