The countdown is on to Halloween! Do you need a quick and easy treat idea? I’ve got it for you! It’s been a busy week with events so I decided to make a last minute Halloween treat for friends. A favorite treat in our household is Harvest Mix which is a combination of Chex, bugles, pretzels enrobed in a sauce with candies added. Click here for the Harvest Snack Mix Recipe.
Of course, the snack mix needs packaging. The Mosaic Gusseted Cellophane Bags are the perfect for holding one heaping cup of the mix. After adding the mix, fold over approximately one inch of the top edge. Use a hole punch to punch two holes and run ribbon through to tie the bags closed. For an added touch, tags are created using the Banner Year Stamp Set and the Little Treats Bundle. Super simple!
You still have a couple of days until Halloween so there’s time to prepare the Harvest Snack Mix. It makes lots so you’ll have plenty for gifting and for enjoying yourself! Drop me a comment and let me know if you try the recipe.

Oct 23, 2020 | August-December 2020 Mini Catalog, Celebration Label Dies, Designer Series Paper, Dies, Gifts, Halloween, Magic In This Night, Treat Holders, Uncategorized |
Since we no longer have trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood, I am making Halloween treat gifts for family and friends. Stampin’ Up! has a variety of packaging options making treat giving simple. I am using the 6″ x 8″ cellophane bags for the majority of the Halloween treat gifts and making bag toppers with the Celebration Labels Dies. There is one Halloween treat that uses a Mini Paper Pumpkin Box (for a special recipient!)
Tips for bag toppers:
To create the bag toppers, use the largest die from the Celebration Labels Dies to cut desired pattern from the Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper (on Sale until through October 31!) After cutting, score the center of the label. Attach to the bag using Stampin’ Seal+ and fold over the 6″ x 8″ Cellophane Bag (don’t forget to fill the bag with your treats first!). Embellish the bag topper using the Banner Year Stamp Set and the Little Treats Bundle products. This is a project to use cardstock from your scrap bin! Use Layering Circles dies to cut tags to add to the bag topper. Additional embellishments are: bats cut from the Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Halloween Magic Dies, Wink of Stella (on spiders), Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Champagne Rhinestone Jewels, Metallic Mesh Ribbon and Glittered Organdy Ribbon.
Tip for coloring the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box:
Use the Mango Melody, Bumblebee and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pads to swipe ink across the box exterior. I found it best to swipe in one direction with a color and then swipe in opposite direction for coverage. After adding the final color layer, spritz water to create the spotted appearance. Decorate as desired!
As you see in the photo above, I have made a number of Halloween treat gifts. Using different Halloween greetings and embellishments, each is slightly different. The Banner Year and Little Treats Stamp Sets have perfect sentiments to make small tags for different occasions. I still have a few treats remaining so will be finishing more bag toppers this weekend so they’ll be ready for gifting next week!

Sep 16, 2020 | August-December 2020 Mini Catalog, Bundles, Celebration Tidings, Cellophane Bags, Gift Bags, Gifts, Gilded Autumn Specialty, Quick & Easy, Treat Holders, Uncategorized |
Since transitioning to virtual card classes due to the pandemic, registrants receive a “little something” extra with the kits. This month, an autumn theme bag topper added to a Mosaic Gusseted Cellophane Bag was perfect for the special treat. Even better, the bag topper is quick to make using the Celebration Labels Dies. The dies and Celebration Tidings Stamp Set are available together in the Celebration Tidings Bundle. For an autumn theme, the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Paper is ideal.
Bag Topper Tips:
For creating a bag topper, the Celebration Labels Dies offer a range of sizes so you can create toppers for a variety of bag sizes. Just lay a die across the top of the bag to determine the size needed. After die cutting your designer series paper or cardstock, place the label on your scoring board aligning the notches on the label and score to create the fold line. To seal bag top, use Stampin’ Seal+ on the label and fold across the bag opening. As noted, I used the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper for my project bag toppers. The designer series paper is perfect for an autumn theme bag topper.
For the autumn theme treat bag, a coordinating gift tag is added to the bag topper. Cut one end of a 3-1/4″x 3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using the Banners Pick A Punch. Then, stamp the “just for you” from the Celebration Tidings Stamp Set onto the tag using Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad. Using the Autumn Punch Pack, cut leaves and acorns from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper. Add the leaves to the tag with glue dots and use a Stampin’ Dimensional on the acorn. Next, add a small bow to the gift tag. To finish, use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the gift tag.
Creating bag toppers using the Celebration Labels Dies is quick and easy! Adding this special touch to a cellophane bag elevates the simplest treat. With upcoming holidays, consider ordering the Celebration Tidings Bundles so you can quickly turn a “little something” into “something special”!

Aug 20, 2020 | 3-D, August-December 2020 Mini Catalog, Boxes, Designer Series Paper, Little Treat Boxes, Little Treats, Quick & Easy, Treat Holders |
School’s back in session for my grandson, Alex. Well, sort of back in session! Currently, all classes are virtual so he’s spending lots of time online. There’s disappointment that in-person class and meeting new classmates isn’t occurring. As I did in the Spring, I’m assisting Alex with the new online learning platform while both parents are working. So, my blog posting schedule is off sync a bit. Hoping to be back on schedule next week. To keep Alex’s spirits uplifted, I made a little treat box to give him after one of his online sessions this week. Using the Little Treats Bundle, the treat box was quick and easy to make. And it’s the perfect size for a couple of small treats!
Additional details:
The Plaid Tidings 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper is cut using the Little Treat Box Dies from the Little Treats Bundle. After cutting the treat box, fold along the score lines and tuck the tabs into the slits to form the box. The front and back flaps can be closed by a ribbon tie or if desired, add a small amount of adhesive along the side to adhere to the box. To embellish the box, cut two leaves using the Stitched Leaves Dies. For the leaves to coordinate with the plaid designer series paper, Cajun Craze and a Brushed Metallic cardstock were selected. Next, stamp the sentiment from the Little Treats Stamp Set using Pretty Peacock Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock. The stitched, scalloped circle in the Little Treats Box Dies is the perfect size for the sentiment.
Making the little treat boxes couldn’t be simpler! Even better is how quickly the treat boxes are to make. You’ll want to order the Little Treats Bundle so you’re prepared to make “a little something” treats for all occasions!

Jun 26, 2020 | 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, Designer Series Paper, Flowers for Every Season, Quick & Easy, Treat Holders, Uncategorized |
Today’s project is a quick and easy Matchbook Style Treat Holder. The treat holders were “a little something” in the June To-Go Class packages. The new 2020-2022 In Color cardstock provides the coordinating base for the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper. I just love that the Flowers with Every Season Designer Series Paper coordinates with all of the new In Colors! The small packages of m&m candies fit perfectly inside the Matchbook Style Treat Holder but it’s easy to place other treats inside of a small cellophane bag to insert into the treat holder.
Side view of the Matchbook Style Treat Holder (with the package of m&m candies)
How To Create the Matchbook Style Treat Holder:
For the matchbook body: Cut a piece of cardstock 2-3/4″ x 8-1/2″. Score at 3-1/2″, 4″ and 7-3/4″; burnish the score lines with a bone folder. Then, fold along the 7-3/4″ score line and staple to create a tab to hold the top closed. (remember, we’re making a matchbook)
Next, cut the following:
- coordinating cardstock – one piece at 2-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ and another piece at 2-1/2″ x 5/8″
- Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper: one piece 2-1/2″ x 3″ & one piece 2-1/4″ x 1/2″
After cutting, add the designer series paper to the cardstock pieces using Stampin’ Seal. Attach the layered panels to the front of the matchbook.
Stamp the “A Little Something” from the Parcels and Petal Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. After stamping, use the 1-1/2″ circle punch to cut (position so that the sentiment is toward the bottom of the circle leaving room for the ribbon).
Finish by tying a small bow using the 2020-2022 In Colors 1/4″ ribbon. Add to the sentiment label using a Mini Glue Dot.
Don’t you love how simple it is to make these treat holders? One piece of 8-1/2 x 11″ cardstock will make four treat holders so you can create lots of treat holders quickly!
Personal note: I did a video showing how to make these treat holders and was all set to add it but alas, it’s sideways! After several hours of trying to edit and correct, I gave up – the technology gremlins won!!!
