Do you have friends that enjoy golf? I do! And as a golfer myself, I hear from friends how difficult it is to find golf themed birthday cards especially for females. Today’s project is a female golfer birthday card that was made for a friend’s recent birthday. In the current Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!, the Country Club Suite offers a selection of products perfect for creating golf themed cards and projects for both the male and female golfer. Father’s Day will soon be here and I’ll be using the set for a special golf themed card for my husband. The card below features the Country Club Designer Series Paper and the Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder. Act quickly though, the Country Club Suite is retiring and the last day to order products from the suite is June 2 or while supplies last.
Card Details:
- Crushed Curry Cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″; score at 5-1/2″ to create card base. Place card front into the Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder (will be available in the new Annual Catalog) and texture emboss.
- Country Club Designer Series Paper: background layer 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″. NOTE: do not attach to card base yet.
- Country Club Designer Series Paper: select golfer image from paper and cut with a Layering Circles Die.
- Color the golfer image. For the female golfer on the card, the following Stampin’ Blends Markers are used: Ivory (skin), Light Balmy Blue (skirt), Light & Dark Old Olive (trees) Color Lifter (trees), Soft Suede (tree trunks)
- To emphasize the image, Seaside Spray Classic Ink is lightly sponged behind the golfer and trees.
- Sponge a small amount of Garden Green Classic Ink along line of the tree bases to mimic grass.
- Add the golfer circle to the Country Club Designer Series Paper layer so that the right edge overhangs the designer series paper. Turn over and cut the overhanging piece. Refer to card photo noting the right side of circle is cut. Now attach to the card base using a strong adhesive.
- Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Clubhouse Stamp Set using the Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Cut with coordinating die from the Golf Club Dies. TIP: order the Clubhouse Bundle which includes the stamp set and the dies – you’ll save 10%.
- Next, attach the sentiment to a strip of Garden Green cardstock with Snail adhesive.
- Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, add the sentiment to the card and embellish with small Basic Rhinestone Jewels.
The Country Club Suite will definitely get lots of use in my craft room!

- Strip for interior: 3/4″ x 4″
- Select an animal image from the Designer Series Paper
- Whisper White cardstock:
- 4″ x 5-1/4″ for interior
- 1-1/2″ x 2-1/4″ for sentiment

- So Sentimental Bundle (So Sentimental Stamp Set and Stitched So Sweetly Dies)
- Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set
- Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon: 4″

Card Directions & Assembly:
- Attach the Layer 1 Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the Daffodil Delight card base.
- Using the tag die from the Bonanza Dies cut a tag from the coordinating pattern DSP. Also, use the pennant die and the party hat die to cut the shapes from the DSP.
- Cut the animal selected from the DSP with the coordinating die from the Bonanza Dies.
- Stamp sentiment from the So Sentimental Stamp Set onto Whisper White cardstock and cut with the coordinating Stitched So Sweetly Die.
- Assemble tag:
- Thread the Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon through the tag top. TIP: add a mini glue dot to the back of the ribbon to hold it in place
- Add sentiment to the tag (refer to photo for placement)
- Attach party hat to top of animal. Use a mini glue dot to add a pompom to the top of the hat.
- Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the animal to the tag.
- Add the completed tag to the center of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- For the card interior, add the pennant across the top and the DSP strip on bottom of the Whisper White cardstock.
- If desired, stamp “Happy Birthday” on the interior panel. Sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set.

As we adjust to social distancing and a change in our routines, my focus has been on family so my posts have been few. It’s not that I’ve not had intentions to share projects with you but my mind has been elsewhere. I’m sure many of you can relate. Even though my posting has not been timely, I have found refuge in my craft space. For me, it’s relaxing and a great respite from the virus news each day. I hope you’re able to set aside time from your day to enjoy your crafting endeavors. Be sure to share how you’re coping in the comment section at the end of the blog.
Remember a few weeks ago, I said “March Madness” was coming? Well, we’re in the midst of a slew of March birthdays. The most recent to celebrate is my grandson, Alex, who turned 11. So, today I’m sharing Alex’s birthday card. He’s a budding musician and eclectic music lover. When I saw the Music From The Heart Stamp Set in the Mini Catalog, I knew it would be perfect to use when making cards for Alex. One of the instruments that Alex plays is the guitar so I used a couple of the stamps from the set to create a guitar for his card. A Night of Navy color scheme was chosen so it would have a masculine feel.
Alex’s Birthday Card Details:
- Starting with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock, score at 5-1/2″ and fold to create the card base.
- Cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Night of Navy striped paper from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper. Attach to the Night of Navy card base.
- Create layers three (3) and four (4) by use the Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and a piece of Whisper White cardstock.
- Create a guitar by stamping with the Music From the Heart stamp set and Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad. Stamp the “you rock” onto the card referring to photo for approximate placement.
- The word “grandson” is stamped using the Make a Difference Stamp Set onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. After stamping, cut around the word and attach to top card layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- With the music note stamps, ink the stamps and stamp off twice before randomly stamping music notes onto the card front layer around the guitar. By stamping off, the guitar stands out more. Also use the music notes to stamp the envelope – no need to stamp off for the envelope.
- Attach the top layer to the Navy Stitched Rectangle using adhesive. Add to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- For the interior, Happy Birthday and a musical note scale is stamped to complete the card theme.
According to Alex, “the card was cool”. Which is his way of saying he liked the card!

This weekend we’re celebrating our granddaughter Brooklynn’s 3rd birthday. Of course, Brooklynn’s birthday card must be in her favorite color – purple. Therefore, I used several shades of purple on the card. The New Wonders Stamp Set is perfect creating a card for a 3 year old girl. She’s a fan of Frozen and though the girl in the stamp set isn’t Elsa or Anna, I don’t think Brooklynn will care. But, I know she will like the card!
Card Directions:
- Create a card base using a 4-1/4″ x 11-1/2″ piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock. Score at 5-1/2″ and fold to use as a side opening card.
- Add a layer of 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Highland Heather plaid designer series paper from the 6″ x 6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper package.
- Refer to card photo for placement of stamping images and sentiment. Stamp the image from the New Wonders stamp set onto a 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad.
- Use Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin’ Pad to stamp the sentiment on the card. The words Happy Birthday are from the Well Said Stamp Set and “3 rd” stamps are from the Make A Difference Stamp Set.
- Use Stampin’ Blends in the following colors for the girl image: Ivory (face, hands and feet); Daffodil Delight Combo and Light Soft Suede (hair), Purple Posy Combo (for top) and Highland Heather Combo (for skirt), Light Seaside Spray (wings) and Smoky Slate Combo for the ink pen. When coloring, use the Color Lifter to help with shading. Light Real Red Stampin’ Blend colors the hearts. Add Clear Wink of Stella to the skirt for a touch of shimmer.
- Cut the Whisper White with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Attach to the center of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Complete by tying a knotted bow using the Purple Tricolor Ribbon and adding to card front with a mini glue dot.
Oh, don’t forget to stamp the interior too…
I can’t wait to see Brooklynn’s face when she opens the card along with her gift. Purple is definitely the theme!

March Madness is coming! My March Madness isn’t the NCAA Basketball tourney but it’s a slew of birthday celebrations in March. My dad’s birthday kicks off the madness on March 1 so I created a birthday card featuring Nature’s Beauty. The stamp set is perfect for creating masculine cards. For the card design, I CASED a card on page 48 in the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog changing up the stamp set. I love the design on this card and plan to use it again, mixing up stamp sets to fit the theme. The annual catalog is a great place to find designs when your creative juices aren’t working in full force! In addition to using the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set, several other stamp sets help supply additional elements. For additional details, scroll down past the card photo.
Card details:
- Card base is Night of Navy Cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″ and fold).
- Use the Woodland Embossing Folder to texture emboss a 5-1/4″ x 4″ panel of Whisper White cardstock. Attach to the card base with adhesive.
- Cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″. On one of the short edges, spritz light with water, tear and fray. Stamp the fern image (Painted Harvest Stamp Set) using the Balmy Blue Classic Stampin’ Pad onto the panel. Refer to photo above for approximate placement. Attach the panel to the Whisper White layer using a strong adhesive.
- Select the wood grain and the woven papers from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. Cut a woven print strip to 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Add to the strip to the card, slightly off center.
- Cut the wood grain print 2-1/2″ x 4″ and on one end using paper snips, cut to create a banner. Add to the card.
- Stamp the deer image from Nature’s Beauty Stamp set using Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a 2-1/4″ x 4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock. Cut top and bottom edges to create a banner. After cutting, stamp ferns using the Balmy Blue and lightly sponge around deer. Stamp grass using Old Olive and sponge around deer’s hooves. Use a small hole punch in center of banner. Thread and loop a piece of Braided Linen Trim through the punched hole.
- With the Leaf Punch, cut two sets of leaves from Crumb Cake cardstock. Attach to the back of the deer banner. Next, use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the deer banner to the wood grain banner on the card.
- To finish the card, stamp Happy Birthday from Itty Bitty Birthday Greetings using Balmy Blue Stampin’ Pad onto a strip of Whisper White. Then, cut to separate the two words. Add to the card using dimensionals.
My dad is a deer hunter so the card is perfect for him.

Today’s project is a feature card from this month’s class. It is a Tropical Birthday card featuring the Timeless Tropical Bundle and other elements from the Tropical Oasis Suite. Initially, this suite was not on the top of my purchase list but after seeing a few cards online, I made the purchase. WOW, am I glad that I did. The flowers in the stamp set are beautiful when stamped and colored. Of course, the coordinating dies eliminate the need to fussy cut. And, the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder adds wonderful texture to cardstock for layering. I have had lots of fun creating with this set so more tropical theme projects will be making an appearance.
Below are the Tropical Birthday Card Details:
- Create a card base using Real Red cardstock. Cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″ and fold.
- Add a layer of 5-1/4″ x 4″ Crumb Cake cardstock that has been texture embossed using the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.
- Using Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamp the hibiscus flower in the Timeless Tropical stamp set onto a 2-3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Color the flower using the Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends. For additional color depth, use the Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend. Use the Dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend to color the flower’s stamen and then use Wink of Stella to highlight the stamen. Cut the flower using the coordinating die from the In The Tropics Dies.
- Stamp 3 leaves using Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a scrap of Old Olive cardstock. Cut the leaves using the coordinating die.
- Stamp the birthday sentiment and cut using the Timeless Label Punch.
- Refer to card photo for placement of elements. Add leaves to back of the flower with mini glue dots. Before adding to the card, cut a 10″ piece of the Braided Burlap Trim. Separate and pull individual strings of the burlap. Attach loops of the burlap string to the card and with Stampin’ Dimensionals, add the hibiscus flower covering part of the loops.
- With adhesive, attach the sentiment.
- Complete by cutting approximately 1-inch of the Braided Burlap Trim, add a Tropical Oasis Trinket to the burlap trim and attach to the side of the sentiment.
