The project for today is perfect when you want to give someone “just a little something”. To make the project, just cover a small notepad with cardstock and the beautiful Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper then add a few embellishments. Use it to give as a thank you, a thinking of you or a just because small gift. While preparing the materials for the small notepad, cut cardstock and designer series paper to make an accompanying 3″x3″ card. Not only does the notepad make a great gift but it’s also perfect for craft fair projects.
There are a variety of small notepads of various sizes available that you can cover. The package for my project contains 3 composition book style notepads (size: 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″) and were found at my local dollar store. Three notepads for $1 is a great deal!
Tips for covering a notepad:
Measure to confirm the length, width and depth for front, back and side of the notepad. Cut cardstock to the size needed and add score lines for wrapping around the notepad. (for the 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ notepad, I cut the cardstock 4-5/8″ x 7″, score at 3-3/8″, rotate and score again at 3-3/8″). Use the Detailed Trio Punch to round corners of the cardstock. Do this before attaching the cardstock to the notepad. Attach the cardstock to the notepad using a strong adhesive such as Tear & Tape or Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Next, cut the Butterfly Bijou paper and round the corners before adding to the cardstock cover. Embellish with desired sentiment, ribbon and coordinating butterfly. The sentiment on the sample above is from the Simply Citrus Card Kit. The butterfly is stamped using Misty Moonlight, die cut using the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle and color added using Just Jade and So Saffron Stampin’ Blends. Be creative and embellish your covered notepad with using an assortment of butterflies!
The Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper is available only during the Butterfly Bouquet promotion which ends May 3, 2021. With the limited time offer for the designer series paper, it is while supply last. The Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper coordinates with the Butterfly Brilliance Collection that includes not just the designer series paper but the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle and Natural Touch Specialty Paper. Both the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle and the Natural Touch Specialty Paper are early released products from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Be sure to order the Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper before the promotion ends or it sells out.

Since March is full of birthdays for many family members, it has kept me busy creating birthday cards. One of my sister’s is the lucky recipient of the Fine Art Floral birthday card. If you’ve not seen the products in the Fine Arts Floral Collection, you must check it out. The Fine Arts Floral Designer Series Paper is gorgeous! There are a variety of patterns to select from but I especially was drawn to the pattern on the card below. It’s beautiful on it’s own but I knew on a Navy cardstock base highlighted with the Gilded Leafing, it would be even more gorgeous. This was my first use of the Gilded Leafing and I love how it creates an elegant card, especially when combined with the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper.
Fine Art Floral Birthday Card:
Card base: Night of Navy cardstock 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″.
Very Vanilla cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ plus a scrap piece for the sentiment pieces.
Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper: 3 strips at 1-1/4″ x 3-1/2″
Assembly Details:
For the first step, apply Gilded Leafing along the edge of the Very Vanilla (5-1/4″ x 4″). To ensure there is enough gilding, make sure it creates at least a 1/4″ border around all side edges of the card. TIP: Use Tear & Tape since it’s the width needed.
After gilding along the outer edges of the Very Vanilla cardstock, add the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper panels spacing evenly.
Next, add the Gilded Leafing to cover the Very Vanilla cardstock between the panels. Again, use Tear & Tape and then apply the gilded leafing. To attach layer to the Night of Navy card base, use Stampin’ Seal+.
For the sentiment, stamp using Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Use Layering Circles Die to cut circle to fit within the Gold Hoop Embellishment. Attach to the gold hoop and add to the card front using Stampin’ Seal+. Embellish around the sentiment with Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.
For the flower embellishment, use the small flower stamps from the Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set. Stamp the flower body using Petal Pink and the inner petals with Merry Merlot. Cut using the coordinating Floral Gallery Dies. Stamp the leaves using Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad onto a scrap of Old Olive cardstock. Trim as needed to fit behind flower when attaching to the sentiment piece. Attach flower and leaves using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
With Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends, color a piece of Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon. Then, tie into a bow (if desired, add strips of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim and Petal Pink Ribbon when forming tail of bow). Add the bow to the base of the flower on the card using glue dots.
Be sure to check out the products in the Fine Art Floral Suite Collection and order your favorite items. But definitely, add the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper and the Gilded Leafing to a “must have” order list.

Where did the time go? Wednesday sped by and I’m late on my weekly Wednesday post! Hey, better late than never. No worries though, today I am sharing not one but three cards showcasing Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper. So, it’s worth the wait (LOL).
The paper is gorgeous and provides a beautiful background for cards. With it’s beauty, you can make gorgeous cards easily. Since I am in need of Thank You cards, I am using the same sentiment from the Happy Thoughts Stamp Set on all three of the cards. For all the cards, the same basic cardstock colors are used. But on two of the cards, I have “stepped up” the designs using the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate on one and Gilded Leafing Embellishment on another.
Details:
The sentiment for all 3 of the cards is stamped onto Basic White cardstock and cut using a die from the Hippo & Friends Dies. Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots are added for extra embellishment.
The base for card one is So Saffron cardstock with a layer of Terracotta Tile cardstock. For cards two and three, Terracotta Tile cardstock creates the base and a second layer of So Saffron cardstock is added.
Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper (3-3/4″ x 5″) creates the top layer on each card.
For card one, the designer series paper is adhered to the Terracotta Tile cardstock layer before the cardstock layer is added to the card base. Wrap a piece of Terracotta Tile Ribbon (from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack) around the layer then adhere to the card base.
On card two, the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate is layered atop the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper. Since the specialty acetate matches the designer series paper, it adds beautiful gold outlining to the print.
And lastly, to step up card three, the coordinating Art Gallery Stamp Set is used to stamp 3 small flowers and Gilded Leaf Embellishment highlights the center of each. Two of the flowers are stamped using Terracotta Tile (stamp off onto a scrap of paper before stamping onto Basic White piece) and one flower stamped using So Saffron. After stamping the main piece with the inks, the inner piece is stamped with Versamark, Heat & Stick Powder is applied then activated with the Heat Tool. Once activated, the Gilded Leaf Embellishment is added and rubbed on each flower. Easy-peasy!
If you’re looking for lots of fun – definitely try the Gilded Leaf Embellishment!

Today’s project is one that has been on my craft desk since mid-November and I finally completed it! It features products from the Dandy Garden Suite. Specifically, the Dragonfly Garden Bundle and the beautiful Dandy Garden 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper. During the Onstage at Home meeting hosted by Stampin’ Up! in November, attendees received a list project materials to prepare for stamping along with presenters. This project is one that was from the Dandy Garden presentation. Using the same card base and layering cardstock colors, attendees were to select three different patterns from the designer series paper. The beauty of the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper is the coordinating patterns and colors. Therefore, there are multiple options for creating a variety of cards that have the same card base and layout but differ due to the patterns from the designer series paper.
The Dandy Garden Suite of products is in the recently released Jan-Jun 2021 Mini Catalog and now available for purchase. Do you notice the small dragonflies? The Dragonflies punch allows you to punch small dragonflies in addition to a larger dragonfly shape! I love the ability to punch small images to add to cards.
I will be using this layout on future cards adding variations so be sure to follow me here each week. Plus, on my business Facebook page, on Instagram and on my You Tube channel. Just click on each of the links and be sure to follow me on all the sources to receive project ideas!

In a previous post, I shared my card design for a recent Shoebox Swap that I attended. Today, one of the cards from another card maker is being highlighted. It is a poinsettia crisscross pocket card and absolutely gorgeous! Linda Edwards, at Crafty Heron Designs, prepared the materials so each attendee could create the card. Not only did Linda present this card design but she also hosted the event. It was a delightful day and all in attendance had a wonderful time.
Isn’t the card beautiful?
It was simple to cut the poinsettia flower from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Poinsettia Dies. I just love it when images from designer series papers have dies that coordinate! To showcase the poinsettia, the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper provides the perfect base. The crisscross card is cut 1/4″ smaller and mounted onto a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock. The combination of Whisper White and Very Vanilla makes an elegant card. Notice how one side of the crisscross is topped with the designer series paper and the other is texture embossed. This adds an extra WOW element. For the sentiment card, stamp with Versamark and heat emboss using Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then, layer atop a piece of gold foil paper. To create a pull for the card interior, punch a slit using the Label Me Fancy Punch and thread ribbon though slit.

Well, I finally ordered the Gnome for the Holidays Stamp Set! It’s such a cute set and I’m glad I have added it to my collection. It arrived with the Snowflake Splendor Suite and the idea for today’s project was born…a Snowy Gnome! Using the gnome with the snowflakes on his hat in combination with the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, a snow themed card came together. Notice the background of the gnome…it’s created by masking the gnome and sponging inks to create a background that coordinates with the snowy designer series paper.
In the video below, I demonstrate how to color the gnome panel and assemble the card:
Materials:
Highland Heather Cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ score at 4-1/4″ for base; 4-1/4″ x 3″ for oval base
Whisper White Cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ for first layer; 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for gnome; 3-1/4″ x 3/4″ for sentiment
Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper: 5″ x 3-3/4″
Inks:
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Balmy Blue Classic Ink Pad
Misty Moonlight Classic Ink Pad
Whisper White Craft Ink Pad
Stampin’ Blends Markers:
Ivory
Misty Moonlight (light & dark)
Highland Heather (light)
Gray Granite (light)
Smoky Slate (light)
Mango Melody (light)
Color Lifter
Snowflake Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set
Dies
Layering Ovals
Stitched Shapes
Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes
Here’s the card from the video with a sentiment from the Snowman Season Stamp Set. After stamping the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White, I used paper snips to trim around the shape.
Stay tuned for more gnome cards! I have more ideas and will be sharing them soon. I would love to hear your comments!
