A couple of weeks ago on my Facebook live demo featuring the Beautiful Butterfly Note Cards, a coordinating box for the note cards was shown. In this post, I am showing you how to make a note card box for your note cards. The box comfortably holds four note cards and envelopes. Depending upon the note card embellishments, you can add up to six note cards. My box coordinates with the butterfly cards but you can use the box instructions and embellish it to coordinate with your note card designs.
Steps for making the box:
Cut card stock 8″ x 10″. The sample above uses Thick Whisper White card stock.
Use the Simply Scored to score on the 10″ side at 1″, 4-3/4″, 5-3/4″ and 9-1/2″.
Rotate paper and score the 8″ side at 1″, 6-3/8″ and 7-3/8″.
Refer to the directions in the photo below for cutting instructions.
After cutting box shape should be as shown below. Follow steps to trim flaps which helps create a neater fold.
Turn box over so that right side is facing up. Apply a strip of Tear and Tape along the 1/2″ edge. Close the box so that the side edges align.
Fold bottom and side tab flaps. Apply a strip of Tear & Tape to the final flap to close the bottom of the box. To make it easier to open and close the box, create a notch in the center of the back of the box.
Embellish box as desired.
Box Embellishment to coordinate with the Beautiful Butterfly Note Cards:
Cut Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (DSP): 2 pieces at 3-1/2″ x 2″ and 2 pieces at 3/4″ x 2″. Attach the DSP to the lower portion of the box front, back and sides.
Create a belly band with 1-1/2″ x 11″ Grapefruit Grove cardstock. Tip: Wrap the cardstock so that it closes in the front so you can cover the “seam” with the sentiment piece. Slide the belly band so that it is just above the Gingham Gala DSP.
On Whisper White cardstock, stamp a set of butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Use the coordinating wing stamps to stamp the wings using Grapefruit Grove Classic Ink Pad – stamp off onto a scrap paper for a lighter shade. Use the Butterfly Duet Punch to cut the butterflies. Save 10% by purchasing it as a bundle.
Stamp the sentiment from the Incredible Like You Photopolymer Stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Punch with the 2″ circle punch. Use the 2-1/4″ circle punch to cut the Grapefruit Grove Gingham Gala DSP. Attach the sentiment to the DSP layer using Snail Adhesive.
Wrap a piece of Whisper White 5/8″ Flax Ribbon around the box and tie in a knot. Attach the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finish embellishing the box by adding the Butterflies and Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins.

Another of the cards in the monthly class uses the Beauty Abounds bundle to create a beautiful butterfly card. The Butterfly Beauty thinlits dies are full of versatility. It can be used to showcase all the butterflies cut as in the card below or you can use your paper snips to cut various sections. Along with the smaller butterfly dies that coordinate with the Beauty Abounds stamp set, there are endless options for creating gorgeous cards featuring butterflies.
To create the card base for the Beauty Abounds card:
Score Lovely Lipstick (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″) at 4-1/4″ and fold to create card.
Use Subtle Dynamic Textured Impression Folder on a 5-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Attach with adhesive to the front of the Lovely Lipstick card base.
The steps for coloring and assembling the butterfly:
On a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock, use Brilliant Red and Gamboge Brusho to create a multi-color background. To use brusho, sprinkle onto paper and spritz with water to obtain the look you would like. Set aside to dry for a few minutes. Once dry, attach a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of the cardstock and use the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Die with the majority of the wings to cut the butterfly.
Attach a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive sheet to the back of a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Flirty Flamingo. Next, use the top layer of the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Die to cut the body and wing edge piece. Working on a each butterfly section one at a time, remove the backing of the adhesive sheet and overlay it to the section the wing piece. Continue removing the backing from the adhesive sheet and attaching the Flirty Flamingo cardstock butterfly piece to the wing piece.
Determine placement of the butterflies on card front. Once determined, remove the multipurpose adhesive sheet backing and adhere to the card. To ensure it adheres, press down firmly on each of the butterfly wing sections.
Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Lovely Lipstick ink. Punch using the 1-1/4″ circle punch.
Using a scrap of the Flirty Flamingo with the adhesive sheet attached, use the thinlits to cut three small butterflies. Attach to the sentiment piece.
Cut approximately 8″ of Lovely Lipstick 1/2″ ribbon (from the All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack) and create a zigzag fold. Use adhesive to attach to front of the card.
With dimensionals attach sentiment atop the ribbon to complete the card front.
This month’s card class is “All About Butterflies” and this vibrant butterfly card featuring the Butterfly Gala Bundle is one of the cards being featured. Combining the color palette of Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lime Twist creates a cheerful and vibrant card. The sentiment is from the Love What You Do stamp set in the All Occasions Catalog.
The card base uses Blueberry Bushel cardstock topped with a layer of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. The black polka dot DSP (3-3/4″ x 3-1/4″) is the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure – it’s free with a $50 order (before tax & shipping). The Lemon Lime Twist gingham plaid (3-3/4″ x 1-3/4″) is from the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper 6″ x 6″ pack. Abut the two pieces of DSP and cover the seam with the Lemon Lime Twist Mini Ruffled Ribbon.
The sponge technique was used to color the butterflies.
First, stamp the butterflies on Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. For the large butterfly, working from the center outward, use a sponge dauber to apply the ink to the center area of the butterfly with Lemon Lime Twist Classic Stampin’ Ink. Follow by sponging a small strip on each wing using Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin’ Ink. Finish by stamping the outer wing edges with Blueberry Bushel Classic Stampin’ Ink.
For the small butterflies, sponge with the Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple green only. Be sure to stamp the butterfly bodies using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Use the Dual Butterfly punch to cut the butterflies. Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and cut using the 2-1/4″ circle punch. Layer on a Blueberry Bushel cardstock circle cut with a 2-1/2″ layering circle framelit. Attach butterflies and sentiment as shown in the photo. Embellish the butterflies with basic rhinestone jewels and add a couple of the Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins.
The new Occasions Catalog is not short on project kits. In fact, your incredible kit may be waiting for you. There are a bunch to choose from so I will give you a chance to see the Incredible Like You project kit. It’s a beautiful kit with a Spring theme. The colors are gorgeous and I love the envelope you get with it for storing the cards. Take a look…
You will need the Incredible Like You stamp set and a few stamp pads to complete the cards in this kit. I’m also extremely partial to those Glimmer accents. I’m all about the glitter. So, just get yourself a kit and make your sixteen cards. Actually, you can even create all the cards and gift the entire set.
