Spirited Snowmen Drink Coasters

Looking for a fun project?  These cork Snowman Drink Coasters feature the Spirited Snowmen and are fun to make.  Plus if you’re looking for a quick, inexpensive gift you can make a set and package them in less than 30 minutes!  You can find the cork coasters in craft stores or online.  I was able to purchase them from Widget.com last year and it is great that a variety of thicknesses are available for purchase.  Since the coasters have been on the shelf in my craft room, it was time to use them for a project. (How many times have you purchased supplies for a project only to let the items sit idle?!)  I knew the Spirited Snowman stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog would be the perfect stamp set to use on the coasters.

The snowmen are appropriate to use not just for Christmas but for the entire winter season.  I have made several sets and the cork coasters work great to protect my wood furniture from hot and cold beverages.

Stamping Tip:

To ensure a good stamped impression, I suggest using the Stamparatus.  It also allows you to stamp two images at the same time.  I did not use the magnets to hold the drink coasters in place and was careful to not move the drink coasters until after stamping  using Stazon Jet Black ink. To receive a clear impression, I found it necessary to ink and stamp the image twice.

Coloring Tips:

Select a variety of Stampin’ Blends to color desired areas of the snowmen.  To avoid smearing of the Stazon Jet Black ink, color just up to the edge and avoid coloring over the black ink.  Allow the inks to dry for 5-10 minutes, otherwise they can smear.  After drying, the ink is permanent.  In the small detail areas, it is best to stipple with the point end of the Stampin’ Blend versus coloring with a back and forth motion.  Note – when stamping, it is not recommended to use Stazon with Stampin’ Blends but for this project waterproof ink is needed so practice careful coloring techniques.

Have fun creating your own Spirited Snowmen drink coasters!

Snowflakes are Falling

Today’s card, Snowflakes are Falling, is one of the projects from the recent card class.  Products featured are the Snow Is Glistening Stamp Set, Snowfall Thinlits Dies and the White Velvet Paper.  All items are a Limited Time Offer for November or While Supplies Last and the White Velvet Paper supply is already Sold Out!  You’re  going to love this set and another benefit is the versatility if offers.

Snow Is Glistening Stamp Set and Snowfall Thinlits Dies from Stampin' Up!

Steps to recreate this Snowflakes are Falling card:
  1. Base is a Silver Foil-Edged card.
  2. Select three sizes of snowflakes and Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pad to randomly stamp the 5″ x 3-3/4″ Night of Navy cardstock layer.  Allow to dry for a few minutes and attach to the Foil-Edged card base.  You’ll find that the Night of Navy layer fits perfectly to allow the foil to create a frame.  Time Saving Tip:  Use a block size D or larger so you can place all three snowflake stamps on the block for stamp the three sizes randomly at the same time.
  3. For cutting the three different sizes of snowflakes, choose the dies from the Snowfall Thinlits and use Whisper White cardstock.
  4. Stamp sentiment onto strip of 1/2″ x 3″ Whisper White cardstock using Night of Navy Stampin’ Pad and adhere to 3-1/4″ x 3/4″ Silver Foil strip.  Add to card using dimensionals.
  5. Adhere die cut snowflakes to the card using dots of Tombo multipurpose glue and to add additional dimension, just glue around the snowflake centers.
  6. Finally, complete card by adding Basic Rhinestones to center of each Whisper White snowflake so it enhances the snowflakes.

Because this is a limited time only offer, make sure to place your order before the products are gone.  Remember, the white paper is already sold out.  The Snow is Glistening stamp set and Snowfall thinlits dies will provide you with unlimited winter craft creations.  Also, the coordinating Happiness Surrounds Photopolymer Stamp Set works well with the products for more creative options.
