Sep 5, 2018 | 2018 Holiday Catalog, Cards, Christmas, Designer Series Paper |
The holiday madness begins with the release of the Holiday catalog today. Yes, today is the day it goes live. I know you are as excited as I am and can’t wait to create your wishlist. It’s probably my second favorite time of year. While there is nothing wrong with another day to celebrate, I really enjoy the brisk weather and beautiful colors the Fall has to offer. First of all, there are so many new stamp sets, papers, accessories and embellishments to check out, it may take you a while to absorb it all and appreciate everything that is in this catalog. Due to the volume of products, it may take you a little longer than you think.

Holiday Madness Begins Today
Yes, it is time for that crazy time of year. No, not back to school shopping but another obession in the form of my to do list of holiday events. It’s not just about presents and days off. For me it’s also about cards and projects and decorating. Everything also has a deadline and it’s almost easy to fall behind if you don’t plan ahead and early. As a result, you certainly won’t get it all done without a plan. It’s a good thing kids go back to school, we need that time to prepare for the weeks and months ahead. I think I’m planning even more projects than I did last year. It’s easy with a catalog like this one because there are more suites and kits that all coordinate together. I love almost all the new products.
Furthermore, if you did not receive a catalog in the mail and would like one, please contact me to arrange getting a catalog sent to you. You can also visit my online store to see all the new products.

Aug 27, 2018 | 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, CASE The Catalog, Designer Series Paper, Uncategorized |
For this week’s CASE the Catalog, I selected the You Made My Day card on Page 36 of the Annual Catalog. The card uses the Best Bunny Bundle which includes the Best Bunny photopolymer stamp set and the coordinating Bunny Builder Punch. This week, I did not alter the card but made it as shown in the catalog. The Best Bunny stamp set is one that can be used for a variety of occasions and as in this case, it’s perfect to send someone letting them know how special they made the day! Details and tips for making the card are below the photo.
Made My Day with these details for recreating the card:
- Thick Whisper White: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ to create card base.
- Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper (DSP): Dotted DSP 5 1/2′ x 4 1/4″ for base card front;. gold & black strip 3/4″ x 4″
- Gray Granite: 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
- Shimmery White: 4″ x 3″
- Scraps of Whisper White for stamping bunny face, sentiment and hat using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
- Scrap of Basic Black. Use the Tailored Tag Punch to cut as shown in photo below:

- Use Bunny Builder Punch and cut the bunny face, color the ears using Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. Color tophat using Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut. Layer the bunny face behind the top hat using a mini glue dot.
- To create the background for the bunny and sentiment, add a light layer of water diagonally across the Shimmery White cardstock and sprinkle with Yellow Brusho. I used an Aqua Painter to blend the Brusho with the water. After the Shimmery White layer has dried, randomly stamp stars using Crushed Curry Ink Pad.
- Using small Stitched Shapes circle framelit, cut the sentiment and layer onto circle of Gold Glimmer Paper cut using the 1 1/2″ circle punch.
- Assemble by attaching dotted DSP layer to Whisper White card base. Next attach and center the Granite Gray Cardstock layer using Snail Adhesive. Add the strip of gold/black stripe DSP and then attach the Shimmery White layer – be sure to offset toward the right of the Gray Granite layer as shown in the photo.
- Add the tag piece and the tophat with bunny.
- Finish the card by using 8″ of Gold Mini Sequin Trim to create a faux bow and using Stampin’ Dimensionals add the sentiment.
In Conclusion
Finally, the stamp set has various sentiments that can also be used with another stamp set. I’m smitten with the different face expressions included for creating bunnies with a variety of looks and images. It will be fun to create cards for all types of occasions and really can Make My Day.
I would love to hear from you so don’t forget to add comments!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the project details on the Country Home Suite from last week’s Facebook Live.

Jul 23, 2018 | CASE The Catalog, Designer Series Paper |
It really is a Tropical Paradise when you create with the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper (DSP). I have decided to feature a “CASE the Catalog” weekly segment. Each week, I plan to make a new card or project from the catalog.
Since the Designer Series Paper Sale going on, I thought I would start with the Tropical Escape DSP and the Tropical Chic stamp set. The whole look really makes me think of a tropical vacation. The paper has such a soothing feel and really allows you to have some unique projects. The first card uses products from the Tropical Chic bundle. Because you get the 10% savings on bundles, I highly recommend purchasing bundles whenever you can. The ribbon was a great addition for me on this card.

Case the Catalog Tropical Escape Project One
This next card is probably a favorite of mine because of the negative part of the cardstock as a “window” of sorts. I was drawn to it when I saw it in the catalog. The darker leaves coordinate nicely with the DSP background. I did leave off the stitching for my version.

Case the Catalog Tropical Escape Project Two
Finally I have a 3D project for last. How cute is this box. It’s kind of a blending of all the cards on page 120 of the catalog (which is where you can find the samples above, but you probably knew that). While the sentiment can be changed for any occasion, I like to use encouraging phrases. I find that family and friends rather have hand made projects. They certainly feel loved when they receive them.

Tropical Chic Treat Box
If there is a card or project from the catalog that you could like to see, just let me know and I will try and include it in a segment. I am open to various ideas to include all occasions. Also, let’s not forget about “just because” cards.

Jul 20, 2018 | 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, Cards, Designer Series Paper, Floral, Textured Impressions Embossing Folders |
If you are lucky to have a friend that means the world to you, then you will definitely enjoy this card. While it was created using the “Share What You Love” Designer Series Paper, I also used the Layered Leaves Texture Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) and Petal Pink card stock. Changing up the TIEF is always an option.
We’re All Lucky to Have a Friend
It’s such a great card that is quick & easy, hence, you can create a number of them to have on hand for friends and family for when the situation presents itself. There are a number of other colors you could use for the card stock on the top of the card. That is just one way you can change up the card. Other sentiments would probably work as well too. Another great idea is to keep the template or parts of the card cut in different colors. Therefore, just grab and go when you are in need of a card with any of the sentiments you pre-designed. You’ll find instructions for this card in the Tutorial page.

Friend Like You Card
The paper is one of my favorites with it’s soft colors. Remember, while this is a beautiful choice, there are also even more designs to choose from in the Designer Series Paper pack. Not all of the choices in the pack are floral so it gives you some other color options. Seems like everyone should be lucky to have a friend in their life and so it should be celebrated. Above all, cherish the ones we love. It fills me with joy to create cards for my friends and family to spread joy with what I love to do. You can pick up the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper from my online store.

Jul 16, 2018 | Animal Outing, Cards, Designer Series Paper, Uncategorized |
One of my favorite bundles in the current Stampin’ Up! Catalog is the Animal Outing Stamp Set with coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits Dies. It’s such a fun set and with the various sentiments can be used for a variety of card themes. The dies are great…not only do they coordinate with the stamp set but also can be used to cut some of the animals from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP). The card below is a 4″ x 4″ card and the kangaroo was cut from the Animal Expedition DSP using the matching thinlit (yay! no fussy cutting). I used various hearts from the Frames Elements to embellish the card and the leaves circle to highlight the sentiment.

Reminder: the Buy 3, Get 1 Free promotion on select Designer Series Papers is continues until July 31st. Don’t miss out…the Animal Expedition DSP is one of the select papers.
