My nephew graduated last Friday from high school and today the card being shared was made especially for him. Our family is proud of his accomplishment and he was the star of the weekend! The Bravo stamp set from Stampin’ Up! was used to convey the sentiment. For a masculine appeal, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate were the card stock colors used for the base and for the stars cut using the Stars Framelits. To add a bit of shine, Silver Glimmer Paper was also used to punch a few small stars using the star punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Set.

Changes are on the way! A new blog header has been created. Additionally, I have decided to also showcase other projects, not just cards. Included will be items that use the Silhouette Cameo. I am excited to share the varied projects that I enjoy and hope that you’ll check in to see what I’ve been up to! Don’t worry though, cards and paper crafts will still be a major component. The goal is to have the update completed later this week and I’ll be sharing a recent project with you.

In the Stamp-a-Rama class, it was important to have one set of cards that could be made quickly and this style fit the criteria. The design was inspired by Linda Heller at Stamping School. With layer dimensions the same for all five card bases, it’s a time saver! Minimal changes such as selecting a different the card stock color, stamping a different flower, or even just rotating the card from portrait to landscape position, can create an entirely new design on the same card base. The five cards in this “Bright Petal Flower” series used the Petal Potpourri Stamp & Flower Medallion Punch Bundle and the Flower Shop Stamp Set/Pansy Punch from Stampin’ Up! to create a floral pop using the Classic Stampin’ Pad that matched the card stock. The Back to Black Designer Series Paper was used to add contrast to the vibrant card stock and a variety of stamp sets was used to tailor the sentiments. As you can see, the sentiment tags were cut using a variety of shapes from banners to Chalk Talk framelits. What’s wonderful with this design is the ability to cut and assemble all components except the sentiment. When a card is needed, you can simply add the desired sentiment tag.

In the recent stamp-a-stack class, the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! was the base used to prepare a set of five cards for a variety of occasions. The Painted Blooms paper ranks as one of my all time favorites and will be missed after it is retired on June 2…so you can guess what I’ve been stockpiling! Enjoy the cards…

Time to share the remaining cards from last week’s Stamp-a-Stack class. The three cards today complete the Nature Theme Series from the class. Be sure to check out the Nature Theme Series post from earlier to view other cards in the series.
In the card below, the “swish stamp” from Work of Art stamp set was used to create the background for the boat image from the Moon Lake stamp set. The technique was described in the previous post. It’s a quick, easy and very effective way to add background color.

In staying the Nature theme, the next two cards use the Wetlands stamp set. The two stamp sets, Moon Lake and Wetlands, are a great combination for creating a variety of designs appropriate for almost every occasion. The first card definitely screams “masculine” with its’ gray, plaid, and blue colors. To soften the edges of the whisper white circle with the duck image, the edges were sponged with basic gray ink.

To create balance on the card below, “sea oats” were stamped on the lower corner. Don’t the birds look like they are running along the water’s edge at the beach?

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend! It was a busy week for me that started on Monday with the monthly stamp class, followed by a two day golf tournament and next thing I know, it’s Saturday! Most importantly, I am taking time to share cards from the Monday class. It was scheduled as a Stamp-a-Stack but it was truly a “stamp-a-thon!” The participants made fifteen cards in the afternoon, a lot of work, but also lots of fun and everyone took home a stack of beautiful cards to have available when needed. There were three themed sets and five cards from each theme were made to complete the fifteen card set. Today I’m showcasing two of the cards that utilized the Moon Lake stamp set from Stampin’ Up! They are perfect for creating a masculine card design.
The first uses a design that was shared on Pinterest by several others and since I’m not sure who originated it, I prefer not to name one specific designer. I liked the way they created the note page behind the stamped image by using the Spiral Border punch. I changed up their design by stamping the image and using the Circles Collection Framelits to cut the image versus keeping it rectangular. The background layer is from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. When this paper stack was first released, I was “on the fence” as to whether to purchase it but am glad that I did…it’s been very versatile and provides a great backdrop to many cards. Notice also how the Gorgeous Grunge stamp helps highlight the bird image!

Also, mustn’t forget to stamp the card interior…a corner edge is the perfect location as it still provides lots of room for a stamped sentiment and handwritten message!
Below is another of the Moon Lake stamp set images. To create the water/sky effect, the large “swish” from the Work of Art stamp set was used to stamp with Soft Sky ink. It’s achieved by inking stamp and stamping several times in succession without re-inking your stamp. The background layer is another designer paper from the Adventure Bound paper stack. The wide White Jute Ribbon worked perfect to add a little bit of extra texture to the card.
