Hope your week is off to a good start! Today’s post completes my convention swaps and then we’ll move on to more exciting projects later this week.
Swap #4 is a Gift Card for an organized swap. When I was planning what type of gift card holder to make, I knew that I wanted to make a gift card holder that would fit into an envelope. After researching, a gift card using the Envelope Punch Board was decided upon. The instructions can be found at Jackie Topa’s Addicted to Stamping. Since one of my favorite papers in the Stampin’ Up! catalog is the English Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP), I knew that I wanted to use it on my gift card. The bee from the Garden in Bloom stamp set seemed the perfect touch to add to the sentiment from the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set. It was a fun gift card to make and there’s plenty of room inside the gift card to add a personal note.

The last card (Swap #5) was prepared for a Fresh Market themed swap. This card was my favorite of the swaps that I made. When I saw the pear paper from the Farmers Market DSP, I knew that I had to find a way to incorporate it into the themed card. I wanted to keep the overall card design simple and feature the paper. On the banner, the single pear was “fussy” cut from the DSP and then to give it a bit more oomph, Crystal Effects was thinly spread across the cut pear. Though the picture does not display the effect, it was stunning! and yes, cutting around the leaf on the stem was a pain!!! The Endless Thanks stamp set was used to create the sentiment and the background on the banner was stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. Linen Thread tied around the banner added the finishing touch.

Now for the sneak peek promised last week! My convention pre-order was contained several stamp sets and other goodies but I’m sharing the beautiful Designer Series Papers. Though each has themed papers, the reverse print offers great versatility. If you like the vintage look…you’re in for a treat with the Christmas paper. You’ll want to mark your calendars for September 1st…that’s when you can place your order from the Holiday Catalog!!!

Today’s convention swaps were used for general swapping and not an organized swap. Both were designed to showcase selections of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the annual catalog.
One of my favorite papers this year is the Sweet Li’l Things DSP. The photos in the catalog do not do it justice! I received a sample of the paper and after seeing it, knew that I had to add it to my paper stash. It is such a fun paper. For the swap, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder card stocks and stampin’ pads were used to coordinate with the DSP page selected. I think the sleeping fox page is so cute. The sentiment used is from the B.Y.O.P. stamp set and the star is from the Festival of Trees stamp set (note: don’t forget to look through all your stamps, often you find the perfect stamp in a set that goes with your theme). The Note Tag punch was used to cut the sentiment after stamping. The finishing touches include the coordinating 1″ Dotted Lace Trim and a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

This other swap showcases the Bohemian Designer Series Paper…it’s a beautiful, vibrant paper. Coordinating card stocks of Bermuda Bay, Delightful Dijon and Blackberry Bliss were used.
The sentiment was stamped using Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad ink on Very Vanilla card stock, cut with the 2″ circle punch and then layered onto the Blackberry Bliss card stock punched from the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punch. It’s a simple card yet highlights the Bohemian DSP.

Made it home yesterday from the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Salt Lake City and in the next couple of posts, I will share with you the cards that made to swap with other demonstrators. The swaps are a great way for demonstrators to share card ideas using different techniques, color combinations, etc. The convention was lots of fun and attendees were able to get a “sneak peak” of the upcoming mini Holiday Catalog. All I can say is “WOW!” Just wait until you see the new products…the stamp sets, project kits and Designer Series Papers are wonderful. Now to share convention swap #1…
The card was designed for a swap designated: Black and White with Color. The guidelines specified that only one additional color could be added. The flower from the “You’ve Got This” stamp set was used. The pop of color was stamped with the background stamp using Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin’ Pad followed with stamping the bloom with Memento Black Ink. The bloom was fussy cut and adhered to cover the bloom stamped with StazOn White Ink.

It’s been a busy few weeks…not only did my grandson visit for 10 days but I’ve been busy preparing card swaps for this week’s Stampin’ Up! convention. So be prepared, I will be sharing lots of cards and other projects in the upcoming weeks.
We attended a wedding this weekend so I took a break from preparing swaps to make a card for the “new mr. & mrs.” The card design is one that my friend, Cindee Wilkinson, at
Just Sponge It, recently shared. Timeless Elegance designer series paper is used but stepped-up to become even more elegant. The paper is itself is beautiful but by using a sponge dauber to apply stamping ink, it’s transformed. I chose Lost Lagoon to use as my color scheme.

Hope you like my new header! As mentioned previously, I plan to start sharing other crafts with you and wanted a new blog header with a new name that also reflects crafts. Just like at home, it was time to de-clutter and simplify. Also, you will note the transition to www.margaretknight.net. The other web address will stay active too so use the one you best remember! A huge thank you to a fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, Jason Loucks, for creating the design. He captured the look and feel perfectly! Please leave comments on the new look.
This week two projects are being shared – a card and a Silhouette Cameo project. The card was a project from the June class where participants learned the Bokeh technique. It created a beautiful background for the Watercolor Wings large butterfly. If you look closely, notice the vellum card stock was stamped randomly using a Gorgeous Grunge stamp and cut using the matching framelit to add extra dimension to the butterfly. The fern stamp and sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set…I love to mix & match stamps from various sets. My mom recently celebrated a birthday so she was the recipient of this beautiful card!

The Silhouette project was created for a ladies “Wine & Nine” golf group. To kick off their season this Spring, the group coordinator wanted to present each of the ladies with a themed beverage glass. In keeping with their theme, they are out “fore fun” and enjoying their beverages each week!
