Fall Class – Card #1

For the September card classes, attendees will make a Halloween card and three Fall themed cards. The Halloween card will employ the “star burst” technique.  It is a wonderful technique that enables one to use scraps of designer series paper or card stock.  In addition to the cards, the class will make a sour cream container treat holder.  The tags on both the card and treat holder were embossed.  Additionally, I decided to “grunge” the star burst and sponged black ink onto the light colored papers.

Thinking Halloween!

Now that it’s September, it’s time to start thinking of Fall activities and the first that comes to mind is Halloween.  My challenge for this card was to design a card that could be constructed in 20 minutes or less and not require every tool or paper in my arsenal.  In other words, employ the KISS (keep it super simple) technique!  I was also able to use paper from my “scrap” collection.  Here’s the result…

Another Friend’s Birthday!

As the title implies, I have another friend celebrating her birthday this week so I’m sharing the card that she’ll receive from me.  I enjoy the soft color of the So Saffron card stock, therefore, I decided to make a mono-chromatic card focusing on it.  The emboss resist technique was used on the Swallowtail butterfly to add depth of color.  This technique is done by heat embossing desired image onto card stock and then sponging in a circular motion the desired color over the embossed image.  On this card, Crushed Curry was the ink color used.  The image “resists” the color but the area around the image becomes shaded.
