Home from Convention!

Hi everyone!  The convention ended last week and now I’ve recuperated from all the fun!  It’s taken a week to sort through the beautiful swaps received and plan ways to incorporate the ideas into different projects.  In addition to being exciting, the convention was very inspiring and at times, overwhelming.  The opportunity to attend workshops, see new products and learn ways to expand use of current products was invaluable. I look forward to sharing some of the projects and products with you in the upcoming weeks.
Today’s project shares are the items prepared for a Halloween Card and Treat Swap.
The first is the Halloween card.  Don’t you think, the Owl Builder Punch made an adorable owl witch?!

“Christmas in July”

My shares today are more swaps that were prepared for convention.  The theme of each was Christmas, thus the title of this post.  Two of the cards use carryover holiday items and the other uses a new stamp set from the soon to be released Holiday Catalog.
The card that is my favorite is below.  It’s not clearly shown in the photo but the card has just the right amount of sparkle.

Stampin’ Up! Northern Flurry Christmas Card
Steps for making card:
  1. Attach the Designer Series Paper (from upcoming Holiday catalog) to card base (Cherry Cobbler, item #119685).
  2. Emboss the Whisper White card stock (item #100730) using the Northern Flurry Texture Impressions Embossing Folder (item #120902).
  3. Use Holiday Ornaments Framelits (item #127816) to cut an ornament shape in the corner of the card stock in the area not embossed.
  4. Attach to Designer Series layer of card.
  5. Use Dazzling Details (item #124117) and a small paint brush to highlight embossed snowflakes.
  6. Stamp greeting from Petite Pairs Stamp Set (item #128706 wood or 122497 clear) onto Whisper White card stock, attach and add small bow using Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine (item #123125) at ornament top.

The next Christmas card is one that is simple and serene.  The Evergreen stamp set was used to stamp the tree.  The tree outline stamp in the set was then used to stamp over the solid tree with Versamark ink and Wild Wasabi embossing powder.

The last card uses Winter Frost Designer Series Paper and the Festive Flurry Stamp and Framelits Set from the Holiday Catalog. It is a great stamp set that can be used to create a variety of winter themed cards, invitations and decorations!

More Convention Swaps!

Hope you’re having a great weekend!  It’s another cloudy, rainy day in Georgia so it’s a good time to catch up on my blog.  Today, two more convention swaps are being shared.
The first is Card Candy.  As you’ll note, it’s packaged and ready for swapping.  One of the swap requirements was to select a stamp set from the new catalog and use it to prepare a package of card candy.   “Mosaic Madness” is the stamp set that I selected.

The mosaic pattern is currently very popular…next time you receive a catalog or sales flyer, look closely and you’ll likely see clothing, household decor and furnishings with the pattern.
Another convention swap, in which I’m participating, is a “Fancy Envelope Swap”.  The task is to create an envelope from card stock or designer series paper and embellish it.  The envelope is perfect to use when presenting cards in person or attaching to a gift.

On the envelope interior, I used the new Envelopes Framelits Die from the new Holiday Catalog and is available for order on August 1.
The envelope was fun to make and when I return from convention, I will be posting a detailed tutorial on making your own envelope.  Be sure to register “to follow by email” so you will receive notice of the posting!
