Shake It Up!

The theme of January’s card class was “shaker cards” and in addition to the Valentine card shared in my last post, attendees were also able to make a birthday shaker card and an all occasion shaker card.

All Occasion Shaker Card using Stampin’ Up! Hello You Thinlits Dies, Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock and Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper

The technique for the birthday card was varied in that the shaker sequins were “sandwiched” between two pieces of window sheet and a circle cut from the card front.  This makes it possible to see the birthday sentiment stamped on the interior of the card through the shaker area.  To create a “photo” effect on the shaker of the all occasion card, the square framelits were used to cut an area from a texture embossed rectangle of card stock.  When you’re looking for a fun card to make and to send, consider the shaker card!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Hope that you’re enjoying the day and are celebrating with your loved ones.  In a recent class, we made shaker cards and included was a Valentine card.  Below is the card and in my next post, I’ll share the additional shaker cards…they are fun and bring smiles to the recipient.

In keeping with today’s theme, I also wanted to share the January Paper Pumpkin.  It included all the supplies to make 22 treat holders.  They were quick and easy to prepare.
I’m loving the  improvements to the Paper Pumpkin projects…Stampin’ Up! has improved the quality and upgraded the offerings with more items in each monthly kit. The kits are ideal for anyone who enjoys crafting but has limited time and resources plus they make great gifts.  Be sure to check out the special being offered on prepaid subscriptions…it’s available through March 31! More shaker cards to come, as well as, cards and projects from Leadership!
Enjoy the weekend!

Sympathy Card

It is never a joy when one must deal with the loss of a loved one and recently, I had to prepare two sympathy cards.  I wanted cards that could be quickly prepared and opted to use the same design for both cards. When going through my stamp collection to find an appropriate stamp, I settled upon the Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Basics set and Butterflies Thinlits Die from the new Occasions Catalog.  Personally, I like to think of butterflies as a symbol that a loved one is near so I was drawn to the set.  Subtle colors were used but Dazzling Details and three small pearls were added to the butterfly to add a bit of shimmer and shine. The Dazzling Details is very subtle and isn’t as evident in the photograph as it is when viewing in person but it adds a finishing touch with the proper amount of shimmer.  A second layer of the butterfly was cut from vellum card stock to add more dimension and the sentiment, from Love & Sympathy stamp set, was embossed with gold.
