Strawberry Fruit Stand

Yes, I’m in catch-up mode and working to share projects with you!  Summertime activities are keeping me busy but my goal is to get back on track in the next week.  I do hope that this post finds that you’re enjoying your summer too!
The card being shown today was made in a recent class and utilizes a technique that was demonstrated while at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live event in April.  Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Kim Williams (http://www.stampinwithkjoyink.typepad.com/) used the Fruit Stand Suite in her presentation of various cards.  The technique she shared involved stamping the image using a classic Stampin’ ink pad onto a piece of watercolor paper, misting the stamped paper with water, then applying clear embossing powder over the misted paper. Complete the technique using the heat tool to melt the embossing power covering the image to create an “orange peel” texture.  It’s a fun technique so hope you give it a try!

The strawberry patterned DSP from the Farm Stand Designer Series Paper package is one of my favorite prints from the stack.  To me, it screams summer!

Blue & White Floral Bouquet

The 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Catalog is full of beautiful stamp sets and matching dies which makes it difficult to decide upon a favorite. For sure, one of my favorites is the Floral Phrases Stamp Set and the coordinating Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies. So naturally during class planning, I knew that I wanted to focus on the set and will be using it in the July classes.  I love the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies as the dies allow for a variety of designs.   Taking a cue from the catalog using navy and white, the following two cards were made using the stamp set and dies bundle.  The cards below are samples of two that will be made in the class.  Of course, the envelope needed a touch of elegance too!

Additional variations using this set will be shared in upcoming posts.

Celebrating the 4th – Monday Night Mania Follow-up

A new feature that I have started on my Facebook page, Margaret Knight, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, is a monthly event called Monday Night Mania.  The event is a live event that lasts approximately one hour in length and I demonstrate two projects.  Plus, a few games are played for Prize Patrol.  The June event was this week and since the U.S. will soon be celebrating the 4th of July, I decided to demonstrate a note card and a treat holder to hold sparklers.  The Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies was altered to make the treat holder.   Additionally, alternative ideas for the projects were discussed.
Part of the demonstration involved using the new Sponge Brayer and the Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Real Red Classic Ink Pad was used to color the specialty DSP paper.  Though I’m still working on getting my video skills, the presentation demonstrates how to use the sponge brayer on the paper.  By the way, I love the new sponge brayer and will be using other pages in the Irresistibly Floral Specialty DSP in future projects!  A list of all the materials used for the projects is at the bottom of this post.

I hope that you’ll take time to view the video on Facebook and see how these projects were made.  Also, make note that my next Monday Night Mania will be on July 18th, starting at 8:00 p.m. EST.  We’ll be “feeling foxy!”
