Hope you’re having a good week! It seems that Spring is taking it’s time arriving. We seem to have a couple of “teaser days” followed by freezing temperatures. Let’s hope that as March comes to an end, the weather will improve and we’ll get back to more normal temperatures!
As mentioned in last week’s post, the “Bags & Tags” class made four bags. Today, the final two bags are being shared.
The first is an embellished white gift bag. It’s extremely simple but is a great way to “dress up” a plain bag. Like the previous gift bags, the Sweet Sorbet DSP from Sale-a-bration was used. I am going to miss this paper – it’s one of my favorites! For the bag below, Crisp Cantaloupe card stock was layered with a piece of the Sweet Sorbet DSP and attached to the white gift bag. A flower was crafted by using the 2-3/4″ scallop circle punch to cut layers of Whisper White card stock. The edges were sponged with the Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stamping pad ink and the scallop circles scrunched and layered to form the flower. The banners were cut using the Banner Framelits.

The last bag was made by cutting two equal sized pieces of Sweet Sorbet DSP, scoring to form sides and using strong adhesive to join the pieces to form a rectangular gift bag. The tag was made using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch – which is an extremely versatile tool that can be used to create more than just tags. The Petite Petals stamp set was used to stamp on the tag with Pistachio Pudding Classic Stamping Pad and with Crisp Cantaloupe onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock. The Petite Petals punch was used to punch the flowers stamped with the Crisp Cantaloupe for layering with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the tag. Of course, you notice the bling in the flower centers!

As you have guessed by now, the past few weeks have been busy and I’ve neglected my blog. The good news is that I have made some beautiful projects that I’ll be sharing with you in the upcoming days. A “Bags & Tags” class was held last week and the group of a dozen ladies were able to make four decorated bags that will be perfect to use for gift giving. Today, I am sharing two of the bags. The remaining gift bags will be posted later this week.
The first was made using one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) to construct the bag. The finished bag size is approximately 5-1/2″ x 8″. There are numerous plans for making paper bags and boxes online but the plans for this particular bag came from “Stamp Academy”. Thanks to the Stamp Academy gals for their great instructions!

in the Sale-a-Bration brochure
and is free with a $50 purchase…but hurry, Sale-a-Bration ends on March 31st!
The second bag is an embellished Tag a Bag gift bag. The chrysanthemum was a blast to make and really makes the bag special. Several Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have videos online showing methods for making the flower and I watched Tanya Bell’s short video on You Tube as a guide for making my sample. The flower base was made using Daffodil Delight card stock punched with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle and 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle. Edges were sponged using Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stampin’ Pad. To add glimmer, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz was misted on each layer of the flower. Be sure to check out
Tanya’s tutorial for the simple steps.

In my last post, I talked about the wild weather we had, lo’ & behold, it happened again two weeks later! Fortunately, we had planned a family trip to Disney World and missed the snow last week. This week Spring does seem to have arrived with temperatures in the 70s. It’s been wonderful and using my allergies as a guide, Spring is definitely on its way!!!
We had a wonderful trip at Disney…our grandson, who turns 5 years old next month, kept four adults going full speed day and night! Walking through the various theme parks and shops, I noticed that the “retro look” is definitely in…from apparel to home accessories. Remember “what’s old is new again!” Thus I decided to share a card made in the last class using the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! This is a quick and easy card to make when you have limited time.

Last week was a “wild weather” week in Georgia…62 on Monday, snow and ice on Tuesday! This week the temperatures are milder with rain. Yesterday while out and about, I actually saw the first signs of Spring…daffodils! Seeing the yellow blooms brought a smile and hopes that it’s a sign that Winter will soon be exiting. With news of multiple snowstorms crossing the U.S. this week, I am sure many of you are wishing for Spring to arrive too!
The daffodils reminded me of a birthday card made for a friend using the Flower Shop Stamps and Secret Garden Framelits Set from Stampin’ Up! It’s being shared today in hopes that it will brighten your day too!

Finally, I am getting back to my blog! Technology issues have been challenging the past 6 weeks. As noted, I thought my computer had been repaired but such was not the case. It completely crashed upon the first attempt to use it at home. Now I have an new computer with a new operating system that has altered how some of my programs work…they just don’t seem the same. Trying to become a fan of Windows 8! Looking on the positive side – it keeps the brain challenged!
On to projects…the monthly card class was held this week and the focus was making thank you cards using the”Split Negative” technique. Below are samples of cards made in the class.

Though Christmas has passed, I wanted to share a couple photos of package decorations that were made to use instead of bows. The recipients were wowed! The “Bags & Tags” class also learned to make these. Credit for the idea comes from Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, Tami White. She created a “Joyful Tidings” tag and the instructions were received from her. Since my packaging consisted of more traditional colors, I altered the concept and created the “Merry Christmas” tag decoration.

Hi all! Just a quick update to let you know that I’ve not forgotten my blog. It’s been a month since my last post and my intentions to post a couple holiday items were cut short as my computer crashed. It took 3 1/2 weeks to get it repaired but the good news is that most of my information was retrieved. Lesson learned – purchase an automatic backup system!
Hope that you had a great holiday season…mine was wonderful. I am trying to catch-up and will be posting the photos of some of the holiday projects (better late than never) and sharing some new ones soon.
Check back later this week as I get back on track and thank you for your patience!
