Woohoo! I am finally getting back on track and sharing some recent projects. It’s hard to believe that I allowed 2 1/2 months to pass without posting anything but it’s been a very busy time. In May, we went on a cruise to the Greek Isles and spent a few extra days visiting Venice so most of the month was busy either with preparations or with the trip itself. (p.s. the trip was fabulous!!!) June also has been busy with summer commitments, and yesterday, my grandson returned home after spending 10 days with us. Fortunately, I am back on track and July is slated to be at a more normal pace!
Not all projects were put on hold though…Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the June card class occurred so those projects are ready to share!
Today the cards being shared used the popular “Card in a Box” method…the first is the Mother’s Day card and the remaining are samples from the June card class.

Today I am sharing the Easter card and treat holders made in this month’s class. The card is a variation on the gate style card and was made using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch from Stampin’ Up!. Specific instructions for making this style of card are numerous on You Tube and after viewing several of the videos, I was able to develop the method that I felt would work best.

The class enjoyed making the card but the various treat holders made were the highlight. Below are photos of the four different treat holders that were made. The treat box instructions can be found at

It’s another rainy day, golf was canceled and I’m using the opportunity to update my neglected blog! The forecast is for possible freezing temperatures tonight…the dogwoods and azaleas are blooming…please can Spring temperatures return permanently!? Looking on the positive side…perhaps the rain will put an end to the pine pollen that covers everything outdoors with a yellow hue.
Now onto the real focus of this post – a masculine birthday card. Last month, my dad celebrated his birthday and below is the card sent to him. I saw a similar card online and loved the simple look. The sandpipers from Stampin’ Up! Wetlands stamp set were stamped onto watercolor paper using StazOn Jet Black Ink. Aqua painters were used to “color” the background with the Pool Party and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad inks. The Stampin’ Distress Tool was used to rough up the edges of the watercolor paper and since “bling” was not appropriate, linen thread was wrapped and tied to add another dimension to the card. Soft Sky card stock was texture embossed with the Decorative Dots TIEF (it was free during SAB, keep fingers crossed that it will be in new catalog!). Dimensionals were used to attach each layer to the Baked Brown Sugar card stock base.

Tomorrow I will be posting the Easter treat holders and card that were made in the monthly card class so be sure to check back for that post.
Enjoy your day!

Hope you’re having a good week! It seems that Spring is taking it’s time arriving. We seem to have a couple of “teaser days” followed by freezing temperatures. Let’s hope that as March comes to an end, the weather will improve and we’ll get back to more normal temperatures!
As mentioned in last week’s post, the “Bags & Tags” class made four bags. Today, the final two bags are being shared.
The first is an embellished white gift bag. It’s extremely simple but is a great way to “dress up” a plain bag. Like the previous gift bags, the Sweet Sorbet DSP from Sale-a-bration was used. I am going to miss this paper – it’s one of my favorites! For the bag below, Crisp Cantaloupe card stock was layered with a piece of the Sweet Sorbet DSP and attached to the white gift bag. A flower was crafted by using the 2-3/4″ scallop circle punch to cut layers of Whisper White card stock. The edges were sponged with the Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stamping pad ink and the scallop circles scrunched and layered to form the flower. The banners were cut using the Banner Framelits.

The last bag was made by cutting two equal sized pieces of Sweet Sorbet DSP, scoring to form sides and using strong adhesive to join the pieces to form a rectangular gift bag. The tag was made using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch – which is an extremely versatile tool that can be used to create more than just tags. The Petite Petals stamp set was used to stamp on the tag with Pistachio Pudding Classic Stamping Pad and with Crisp Cantaloupe onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock. The Petite Petals punch was used to punch the flowers stamped with the Crisp Cantaloupe for layering with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the tag. Of course, you notice the bling in the flower centers!

As you have guessed by now, the past few weeks have been busy and I’ve neglected my blog. The good news is that I have made some beautiful projects that I’ll be sharing with you in the upcoming days. A “Bags & Tags” class was held last week and the group of a dozen ladies were able to make four decorated bags that will be perfect to use for gift giving. Today, I am sharing two of the bags. The remaining gift bags will be posted later this week.
The first was made using one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) to construct the bag. The finished bag size is approximately 5-1/2″ x 8″. There are numerous plans for making paper bags and boxes online but the plans for this particular bag came from “Stamp Academy”. Thanks to the Stamp Academy gals for their great instructions!

in the Sale-a-Bration brochure
and is free with a $50 purchase…but hurry, Sale-a-Bration ends on March 31st!
The second bag is an embellished Tag a Bag gift bag. The chrysanthemum was a blast to make and really makes the bag special. Several Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have videos online showing methods for making the flower and I watched Tanya Bell’s short video on You Tube as a guide for making my sample. The flower base was made using Daffodil Delight card stock punched with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle and 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle. Edges were sponged using Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stampin’ Pad. To add glimmer, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz was misted on each layer of the flower. Be sure to check out
Tanya’s tutorial for the simple steps.

In my last post, I talked about the wild weather we had, lo’ & behold, it happened again two weeks later! Fortunately, we had planned a family trip to Disney World and missed the snow last week. This week Spring does seem to have arrived with temperatures in the 70s. It’s been wonderful and using my allergies as a guide, Spring is definitely on its way!!!
We had a wonderful trip at Disney…our grandson, who turns 5 years old next month, kept four adults going full speed day and night! Walking through the various theme parks and shops, I noticed that the “retro look” is definitely in…from apparel to home accessories. Remember “what’s old is new again!” Thus I decided to share a card made in the last class using the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! This is a quick and easy card to make when you have limited time.
