Yes, the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper (DSP) is also used on the sample below and another sentiment from the Detailed with Love Stamp Set. I love that the Garden Impressions DSP contains a a multitude of colors that coordinate with different Stampin’ Up! cardstock colors and the stamp set offers beautifully scripted sentiments. One of my favorite stamp sets in the newly released Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog is Painted Harvest. The sunflower stamp can be used with a variety of colors to create beautiful stamped flowers. In a recent class, I decided to mix it up and use colors that coordinated with the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (DSP). Don’t you love the look of the flower stamped using Emerald Envy and Lemon Lime Twist inks? Note that the flower stamp is a Two Step stamp and the first step stamp may appear to only partially stamp. This actually is the way the stamp is designed and not a flaw with the stamp. When the second step is stamped, the flower becomes complete. It’s also recommended that when using photopolymer stamps to use a piercing mat to ensure even pressure when stamping. The fun fold card design was CASED from
Janet Wakeland with just a few slight modifications.

A great method for adding a touch of elegance to a card is to use a Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF). In the card below, the Garden Trellis TIEF was used to emboss not just the cardstock but also the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper (DSP). When constructing the card, attach the pieces of DSP to the cardstock layer then insert into the TIEF and run through the Big Shot. Both layers are embossed at the same time and the embossing adds that little extra touch of dimension creating a subtle elegance to the card. Best of all, it’s quick and easy!

Hi all! Before moving on to share cards from the Eclipse Card class, I’d like to ask everyone to say a prayer for the safety of those along the Texas coast. Hurricane Harvey has caused major flooding and water continues to cause flooding. There are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose homes have flooded and they will be faced with months of cleanup.
Last post, I shared one of the cards from the class held on Eclipse Day. Below are two more of the cards that were made by attendees.
The first card uses the same shadow technique as the previous post. Using the dies to cut two layers of the same letter and “shadowing” one behind the other. For this card, the Large Letters Framelits were used to cut the main greeting from Always Artichoke and Whisper White cardstock. The word, friend, comes from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and was stamped using Always Artichoke ink. Notice the leaf – it’s from the Painted Harvest stamp set and punched with the coordinating Leaf Punch – these items are from the Holiday Catalog will be available for purchase starting September 1. Note: The Large Letter framelits are a must set! The uses are limitless. Yes, the may seem pricey but well worth the investment so start saving and add them to your “must have” list. So Saffron cardstock was cut using an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and Gold Metallic Thread was attached behind the oval. A piece of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (DSP) was layered atop the Always Artichoke cardstock base.

The second card featured uses the emboss resist method to create a shadow card. The flowers from the Host set, Background Bits, was first stamped in Dapper Denim onto the Whisper White cardstock square. After cleaning the stamp, Versamark was used to stamp the image again and White Embossing Powder was added and heat set. To create the shadow, the image was stamped “offset” – to ensure desired placement, the Stamp-a-ma-jig was used. After cooling, a sponge was used to color Dapper Denim ink across the stamped panel. The panel was cut using a square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and layered atop a Dapper Denim cardstock square cut from the Layered Squares Framelits. The Just a Note stamp is from Flourishing Phrases and was stamped using the Dapper Denim ink. The card was finished with a piece of Color Theory DSP cut into a banner using the Banner Punch and embellished with three Glitter Enamel Dots. Card base is Dapper Denim cardstock with a layer of Whisper White cardstock for the main layer.

Jan 17, 2015 | Cards, Sympathy, Uncategorized |
It is never a joy when one must deal with the loss of a loved one and recently, I had to prepare two sympathy cards. I wanted cards that could be quickly prepared and opted to use the same design for both cards. When going through my stamp collection to find an appropriate stamp, I settled upon the Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Basics set and Butterflies Thinlits Die from the new Occasions Catalog. Personally, I like to think of butterflies as a symbol that a loved one is near so I was drawn to the set. Subtle colors were used but Dazzling Details and three small pearls were added to the butterfly to add a bit of shimmer and shine. The Dazzling Details is very subtle and isn’t as evident in the photograph as it is when viewing in person but it adds a finishing touch with the proper amount of shimmer. A second layer of the butterfly was cut from vellum card stock to add more dimension and the sentiment, from Love & Sympathy stamp set, was embossed with gold.

What crazy weather! Not sure what weather you’ve been experiencing, but this past weekend those of us in Georgia were able to revisit February weather. It certainly was not our normal May warmth! Let’s hope that we’ll all have sunshine and warmer temperatures soon.
For Mishmash Monday, I’m sharing three card samples prepared for next week’s “Flowers are Blooming” class. Each was prepared using a different stamp set and different techniques. The first card was made using my favorite flower stamp – Secret Garden and the inspiration for the design was from a card prepared by Brandy Cox.
 |
| Happy Birthday card using Secret Garden Stamp set |
The card base is Daffodil Delight card stock (CS). The first layer is Whisper White CS which has been stamped using three stamps (large flower, small solid flower and leaves) from the Secret Garden Stamp set. The larger flower was stamped using Tangerine Tango Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad. The next step was to use the solid flower to stamp the center of the larger flower using Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad. The stamp off-stamp on technique was used – i.e. ink stamp, stamp first onto a scrap paper, then stamp onto your card. This removes some of the ink from the stamp thus the stamped image is not as intense in color and creates a shadow effect. For the leaves, Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad was used and the image was stamped three times before re-inking. This shadow effect around the flowers makes it appear that the flowers are peeking through the leaves thus adding dimension. Another flower and two leaves were stamped onto scrap Whisper White CS and cut using Secret Garden Framelits in the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. The Happy Birthday greeting was stamped onto Whisper White CS using Tangerine Tango Classic Stampin’ Pad and the Hostess Wacky Wishes Stamp Set. The Labels Collection Framelits set was used to cut the stamped label and a label was cut from Daffodil Delight CS. The greeting was then layered onto the Daffodil Delight label. The cut flower and leaves were attached to the side of the label using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Additional Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to attach the greeting with flower to the card. Unless otherwise noted, SNAIL adhesive was used to put card layers together. A Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the cut flower. As an added touch, the Whisper White CS interior card liner was stamped in a lower corner to add a finishing touch with ample room left for adding a personalized message. The Whisper White Envelope was also stamped.

The second card uses Betsy’s Blossoms and again, I’m using the Brights Collection CS and Stampin’ Classic Inks (do you think I’m ready for summer and bright colors?)!!! Regal Rose and Pumpkin Pie ink colors were used to stamp the flowers and Staz On Jet Black ink was used to stamp the saying from the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set (retiring soon!). The saying (again, thinking of sunshine!) was cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits Collection. Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to attach the label. The card liner, as well as, the envelope were also stamped.

The last card is a cheerful card that was quick to prepare. It utilizes the Summer Smooches DSP (retiring soon!) layered onto a card base of Daffodil Delight CS. The Bright Blossoms Stamp Set was used to stamp the image onto Whisper White CS that had been cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelit. The top portion of the frame piece was cut using scissors after attaching to the Summer Smooches DSP (refer to photo). On a scrap piece of Whisper White CS, the flower image was stamped again. Then using paper snips, the vase shape was cut and then using Stampin’ Dimensionals was layered over the stamped vase image on the Whisper White CS accent piece. A greeting was stamped and embellishments added.
