Happy New Year!  Hope that 2017 is off to a good start for you.  It’s been awhile since I’ve had an opportunity to blog…the holidays seemed to be extra hectic and with the new year, it’s been “out with the old”.  We’ve started a garage organization project (yes, early Spring cleaning) and at the same time, my craft space is being reorganized so think “chaos”!  Why does it seem that the only way to organize is to first make a mess?!  While undertaking these projects, it’s been a good time to donate items that are no longer being used and I can’t wait to be completed with the tasks so I can create new projects with some of the rediscovered items.
Keeping the “out with the old” theme, I want to share with you one of the Christmas card designs sent to family & friends this past holiday season. The card used the Star of Light Bundle (stamps & thinlits) from the expired Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  The good news is the set is on the Holiday Carryover and still available for purchase.  The card was inspired by fellow demonstrator, Linda Heller.  Be sure to check out Linda’s Stamping School.
Holiday Card using Stampin’ Up! Star of Light Stamp & Thinlit Bundle

The color combination for the base of the card is Marina Mist and Dapper Denim.  The now discontinued Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper was used to cut out the star to top a piece of silver glimmer paper.  In lieu of the Fancy Frost, use a Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of whisper white cardstock prior to cutting the star. Note: leave enough room at the bottom of white layer to add the sentiment.  The sentiment is stamped using the Dapper Denim Classic Stampin’ Pad. Don’t forget to embellish the interior with the star swoosh from the stamp set…it adds that extra touch.

Remember to “think outside the box”, the Star of Light bundle would be great for creating a variety of cards themes using sentiments from other sets.
Thanks for stopping in…I am almost back on track and will be posting again this week!  So be sure to “follow me” so you’ll not miss project ideas!
