Stampin’ Up! Woodland Textured Impressions Folder & Guy Greetings Stamp Set |
After trying various methods and viewing videos of this technique, I would like to share some hints on stamping on the embossing folder –
1. Using a brayer to apply the background ink seemed to work best for obtaining a light background. Sponging seemed to create a mottled look.
2. Use water-soluble ink to avoid permanently staining your embossing folder.
3. When inking your stamp for stamping onto the textured embossing folder (on this card – the automobile), make sure to evenly ink the stamp and hold in place for about a 30-60 seconds to allow the ink to transfer onto the embossing folder. Be sure to stamp – straight down/straight up to avoid smearing.
4. It was easiest to place the card stock onto the non-inked side of the embossing folder, then fold the inked/stamped side over the card stock before rolling through the Big Shot.
5. Keep in mind that the stamped image outline will not be as clear as images stamped directly onto card stock.
Everyone in the class enjoyed this technique and all the cards turned out beautifully. I encourage you to give it a try.
Now to go find out what mischief my grandson may be into…it’s gotten very quiet!!!

How did you stamp the car and it not appear on the trees?
Hi Evie, The car was stamped directly onto the front embossing side of the textured impression embossing folder (side with Sizzix label). Since the tree branches are the part of the folder that embosses the cardstock, that portion of the embossing folder does not become inked when you stamp onto it. It’s a fun technique.
Awesome technique. Can’t wait to try it
Thanks I was quite confused on how to do that to put the car behind the trees I’ll have to have a go at that myself. ♡♡ Cori.
What are the car rubber stamp dimensions used?
Hi Shirley, I am currently traveling so unable to measure the stamp for exact dimensions but the car is approximately 1 1/4″ high by 1 3/4″ long. Margaret
Where do I find the car stamp?
Hi Donna,
The car in the project is from the Guy Greetings stamp stamp which is now retired and no longer available for ordering from Stampin’ Up! You may be able to locate the set via online sales sites such as Ebay since it’s discontinued by Stampin’ Up! At this time, there are no stamps featuring cars in the annual catalog (motorcycle, tractor and bike are the replacement vehicles).
Margaret
I’m still confused – where do you apply the backgrouND ink, and what color?
Hi Monika, Thank you for your question. The background ink is Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (you’ll want to use a water soluble ink to avoid damaging your embossing folder. Ink your stamp and then stamp it onto the embossing folder (on the inside of the front flap). If you want to see how this is done, Frances Martin demonstrates the technique on her you tube channel.
I know you said the car stamp is d/c’d bur what about the birch tree embossing folder? Thanks
Hi Diana, Yes the embossing folder is available. It is called the Woodland Embossing Folder, Item #152881. Here’s the link for ordering: https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/product/152881/woodland-embossing-folder
