Our grandson, Alex, will be staying with us next week before he starts summer camp and he’s made it clear that we’re going fishing!  During a recent weekend visit, he wanted to fish so we made our way to the nearby lake.  I have to let you know, we aren’t fishermen and it’s been many years since I’ve fished!  It required we purchase a rod & reel so he could “show us” how to fish.  When we started to explain how to cast, he informed us he knew how as he learned it from watching television and YouTube videos…a 7 year old that thinks he’s 17!  Fortunately, with assistance from a neighbor,  Alex caught his first fish!
In preparing for his upcoming visit, I decided a card made in a recent class would be perfect to go along with some surprises we have for his fishing adventures.  The Bear Hugs stamp set and matching framelits dies was used to make the card.  To create the lake and the grass area on the card, a post-it note was torn and used to for a mask, as well as, a guide for sponging.  The lake was sponged using Pool Party Classic ink, then it was covered with the portion of the post-it note that matched it’s torn edge.  This allowed for sponging the grass area.  The trees from the In the Meadow stamp set were stamped with Early Espresso ink.  The bear was stamped with Early Espresso onto Crumb Cake card stock, cut with the matching die and attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The fish were stamped and then colored using Old Olive and Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Markers.
