Quick and Easy Gift Tag

It’s such fun to give small “thinking of you” gifts and the 3″ x 6″ gusseted cellophane bags from Stampin’ Up! are the perfect size for such purpose.  Naturally, the gift bag needs a gift tag and the one on the project below is quick and easy.  This project is perfect for using up scraps of cardstock.  Since we’re celebrating the arrival of Fall soon, leaves in Fall colors are used to embellish the tag.  The Gather Together Bundle includes the Gather Together Stamp Set and the Gathered Leaves Dies.  Can you see the dimension in the leaves?  The dies not only cut but emboss!  Details for creating the tag are listed below the project photo.

Treat Bag with Fall Leaves Tag

Card Details:
  • To create tag base, cut a 1-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  On one end of the cardstock, use the Delightful Tag Topper Punch to create the tag.  Use the corner rounder section on the Detailed Trio Punch to round the edges on the opposite end of the tag.
  • On the tag, stamp the large leaf from the Gather Together Stamp Set using Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin’ Pad.
  • Next, use the three leaves dies to cut a leaves from scraps of Merry Merlot, Pretty Peacock and Cajun Craze cardstock.  One leaf in each color was cut.  TIP: By first lightly spritzing the cardstock with water and then cutting with the dies.   The embossed impression is much deeper.  Plus when the cardstock dries, the edges of the leaves curl just as Fall leaves curl.
  • While the leaves are drying, stamp the sentiment from the Parcels and Petals Stamp Set (in the Annual Catalog) onto the tag using Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad.
  • Once the cut leaves are dry, sponge Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink onto each leaf.  Layer the leaves onto the tag below the sentiment using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • After adding your treats to the 3″ x 6″ cellophane bag, fold top over approximately 3/4″ and secure with a staple.  Fold 3″ x 2″ piece of Come to Gather Designer Series Paper in half and secure to the bag by using Snail Adhesive on each side of fold.  (you are sandwiching the bag top inside the Designer Series Paper)
  • Finish by adding the gift tag to the bag with Mini Stampin Dimensionals and add a Cajun Craze Linen Thread bow using a mini glue dot.

Team Gifts

Each month, the two Playtime with Paper team members with top sales receive a special thank you gift from me.  Most recently, the top two team members received team gifts of 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dots and a yard of each of the 1/2′ Scalloped Linen Ribbons in the five new In Colors.  Instead of a card, a tag was created to add to the cellophane bag holding the goodies.  So, I decided to use the Wiggle Worm stamp set and coordinating Wiggly Worm dies for the tag.  Did you know, you can save 10% when purchasing the Wiggle Worm Bundle?  Just look, how stinkin’ cute are those bugs?!  In addition to the cute bugs, the sayings in the stamp set are appropriate for lots of occasions.

Tag Details:
  1. For creating tag base,  layer  a 2″ x 4″ piece of Garden Lane Designer Series Paper onto a 2″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  To adhere the two layers, use multipurpose glue.  For the tag top, use the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  Finally, round the corners on bottom of tag with the Detailed Trio Punch.
  2. Use the Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut a piece of watercolor paper.  Using an aqua painter and Balmy Blue ink, color a sky background onto the watercolor paper.  Let dry.
  3. Select desired bug stamps and stamp onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Color with Stampin’ Blends markers.  Use the coordinating color of Classic Stampin’ Pad to stamp the bug lines.  In my samples, Mango Melody Light and Dark Blends color the beetle.  To stamp the lines on the beetle’s body, use the Mango Melody Classic Ink Pad.  For the dragonfly, Daffodil Delight Light Stampin’ Blend colors the body with the wing decor stamped with the Daffodil Delight Classic Ink Pad.
  4. After coloring, use the coordinating bug dies to cut each bug.
  5. Stamp the grass onto the watercolor paper label using Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink Pad and the sentiment using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad.
  6. To attach both the watercolor label and the bugs, use Stampin’ Dimensionals .
  7. For an extra touch, cut 2 sets of leaves using the Leaf Punch.  Select color that coordinates with the Designer Series Paper.   For a crumpled appearance, lightly spray water onto the leaves using a Stampin’ Spritzer.  While cardstock is damp, pinch leaves between fingers.  Allow to dry and then attach to tag under the label as shown in photos of gifts.  For a bit of bling, add 3 rhinestones clustered together to form a flower on the base of the top leaves.  Use the 3/16″ Linen Braided to tie the tag to the cellophane bag.

The bugs were loads of fun to make!  Thus, I stamped and cut more bugs to have ready for other projects.  Just stamp, color and cut to have extras available to use.
