Bags & Tags – Part 1

As you have guessed by now, the past few weeks have been busy and I’ve neglected my blog. The good news is that I have made some beautiful projects that I’ll be sharing with you in the upcoming days. A “Bags & Tags” class was held last week and the group of a dozen ladies were able to make four decorated bags that will be perfect to use for gift giving. Today, I am sharing two of the bags.  The remaining gift bags will be posted later this week.
The first was made using one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) to construct the bag. The finished bag size is approximately 5-1/2″ x 8″. There are numerous plans for making paper bags and boxes online but the plans for this particular bag came from “Stamp Academy”. Thanks to the Stamp Academy gals for their great instructions!

The second bag is an embellished Tag a Bag gift bag.  The chrysanthemum was a blast to make and really makes the bag special.  Several Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have videos online showing methods for making the flower and I watched Tanya Bell’s short video on You Tube as a guide for making my sample.  The flower base was made using Daffodil Delight card stock punched with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle and 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle.  Edges were sponged using Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stampin’ Pad.   To add glimmer, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz was misted on each layer of the flower.  Be sure to check out Tanya’s tutorial for the simple steps.

Retro: “What’s Old is New Again!”

In my last post, I talked about the wild weather we had, lo’ & behold, it happened again two weeks later!  Fortunately, we had planned a family trip to Disney World and missed the snow last week.  This week Spring does seem to have arrived with temperatures in the 70s.  It’s been wonderful and using my allergies as a guide, Spring is definitely on its way!!!
We had a wonderful trip at Disney…our grandson, who turns 5 years old next month, kept four adults going full speed day and night!  Walking through the various theme parks and shops, I noticed that the “retro look” is definitely in…from apparel to home accessories.   Remember “what’s old is new again!”  Thus I decided to share a card made in the last class using the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!  This is a quick and easy card to make when you have limited time.

Flower Shop

Last week was a “wild weather” week in Georgia…62 on Monday, snow and ice on Tuesday!  This week the temperatures are milder with rain.  Yesterday while out and about, I actually saw the first signs of Spring…daffodils!  Seeing the yellow blooms brought a smile and hopes that it’s a sign that Winter will soon be exiting.  With news of multiple snowstorms crossing the U.S. this week, I am sure many of you are wishing for Spring to arrive too!

The daffodils reminded me of a birthday card made for a friend using the Flower Shop Stamps and Secret Garden Framelits Set from Stampin’ Up! It’s being shared today in hopes that it will brighten your day too!
