Another Animal Outing

One of my favorite bundles in the current Stampin’ Up! Catalog is the Animal Outing Stamp Set with coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits Dies.  It’s such a fun set and with the various sentiments can be used for a variety of card themes.  The dies are great…not only do they coordinate with the stamp set but also can be used to cut some of the animals from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP).  The card below is a 4″ x 4″ card and the kangaroo was cut from the Animal Expedition DSP using the matching thinlit (yay! no fussy cutting).  I used various hearts from the Frames Elements to embellish the card and the leaves circle to highlight the sentiment.

June’s My Paper Pumpkin subscribers kit is now in the hands of all the subscribers.  So here is your chance to see what they got.  Were you one of the lucky ones?  Remember, last month we told you the kit for June would coordinate with the Broadway Bound suite in the new annual catalog.  Signing up is easy and if you sign up before July 10th, you will receive the July kit.

My Paper Pumpkin makes creating projects very fun and easy.  Everything you need to create the project of the month is in the cute little orange box that comes to your door.  Usually we don’t know what the kit will contain but this month, Stampin’ Up! let us have a little sneak peek.  Colorful and bright is the theme for this subscribers kit.  While it has the products to create the cards in the video below, you can add other items from the Broadway suite and really have fun with it.  Take a look:

Honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month

For the card class this past Monday, I thought it appropriate to include a Pink Ribbon card using the Ribbon of Courage stamp set bundle in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Powder Pink cardstock and ink, as well as, the same color in the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack were used for creating the card.  The sentiment was stamped in Smoky Slate on the Whisper White cardstock oval.  It is a simple card to make but conveys a wonderful message.

Double the Fun – More Eclipse Shadow Cards

Hi all!  Before moving on to share cards from the Eclipse Card class, I’d like to ask everyone to say a prayer for the safety of those along the Texas coast.  Hurricane Harvey has caused major flooding and water continues to cause flooding.  There are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose homes have flooded and they will be faced with months of cleanup.

Last post, I shared one of the cards from the class held on Eclipse Day.  Below are two more of the cards that were made by attendees.

The first card uses the same shadow technique as the previous post.  Using the dies to cut two layers of the same letter and “shadowing” one behind the other.  For this card, the Large Letters Framelits were used to cut the main greeting from Always Artichoke and Whisper White cardstock.  The word, friend, comes from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and was stamped using Always Artichoke ink. Notice the leaf – it’s from the Painted Harvest stamp set and punched with the coordinating Leaf Punch – these items are from the Holiday Catalog will be available for purchase starting September 1.  Note:  The Large Letter framelits are a must set!  The uses are limitless.  Yes, the may seem pricey but well worth the investment so start saving and add them to your “must have” list.  So Saffron cardstock was cut using an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and Gold Metallic Thread was attached behind the oval.  A piece of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (DSP) was layered atop the Always Artichoke cardstock base.

The second card featured uses the emboss resist method to create a shadow card.  The flowers from the  Host set, Background Bits, was first stamped in Dapper Denim onto the Whisper White cardstock square.  After cleaning the stamp, Versamark was used to stamp the image again and White Embossing Powder was added and heat set.  To create the shadow, the image was stamped “offset” – to ensure desired placement, the Stamp-a-ma-jig was used.   After cooling, a sponge was used to color Dapper Denim ink across the stamped panel.  The panel was cut using a square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and layered atop a Dapper Denim cardstock square cut from the Layered Squares Framelits.  The Just a Note stamp is from Flourishing Phrases and was stamped using the Dapper Denim ink.  The card was finished with a piece of Color Theory DSP cut into a banner using the Banner Punch and embellished with three Glitter Enamel Dots.  Card base is Dapper Denim cardstock with a layer of Whisper White cardstock for the main layer.

Celebrating the Great Eclipse – Stamping Style!

What a fun week at the monthly card class!  The class date coincided with the “Great Eclipse” across the United States and since our area was going to experience approximately 97% totality, I decided the class had to celebrate the event.  The four card designs featured various shadow layering techniques and to add to the celebration, everyone received viewing treats at their work stations.
It was definitely worth taking a few minutes away from stamping to watch the historical event.  Best of all, I was able to snap a photo of attendees before the class ended!
Today, I will detail one of the shadow cards and follow with the remaining cards in the next post.  In the card featured, the Happy Birthday Thinlit was used to cut Night of Navy and So Saffron cardstock pieces which became the feature sentiment.  By offsetting the Night of Navy layer when adhering it to the So Saffron layer, the shadow effect was created.  To highlight it even more, Whisper White cardstock was cut using the largest circle die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The card base uses So Saffron cardstock and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is found in the Delightful Daisy DSP package.  Night of Navy 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon completes the card.

FYI:  My next post will be up much sooner…since my husband retired, my schedule has been somewhat disrupted but now we seem to have settled into a routine so I can get back to my activities on a regular basis!
Thanks for stopping by and check back soon for more project ideas!
