The theme for the April card class was “Butterflies and Dragonflies”.  One of the techniques used for a dragonfly card was the “faux stained glass” technique.  The inspiration for the card and technique came from Dawn Griffith at Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts.  Not only did I like the technique but the color combination of Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Mint Macaron. The Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and detailed Dragonfly Thinlits dies coordinate wonderfully with the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and it’s dragonfly. 

This was a fun technique enjoyed by class participants so be sure to check out Dawn’s video via the link.  Be sure to add a dragonfly to your envelope too.  With the many color combinations available using Stampin’ Up! products, you can create your own special stained glass dragonfly!

Hi all!  Yes, I have been MIA for the past two months with lots of personal events taking place (details at end of  post) but now I am back in action and ready to share lots of projects. The project being shared today utilized the Birthday Bright Project Kit  from Stampin’ Up!.  The coordinating Birthday Bright photopolymer stamp set is a wonderful stamp set to utilize when making birthday cards.  After making samples as instructed in the kit, I was challenged to prepare alternate samples.  Using coordinating cardstock, designer series paper and a few additional embellishments, it was a breeze to create fun, bright cards and treat holders. Note: The kit is on the retiring list so be sure to grab it before it’s gone!

Now to share the personal events that have kept me busy and away from blogging.  One is the birth of our granddaughter, Brooklynn Olivia!  We were over the moon to welcome a baby girl into the family on March 2.  Her cousin, Alex, now has someone to watch over at family gatherings.   The other big event was the retirement of my husband.  It’s been somewhat of an adjustment as my time is no longer “just my time”!  I’m sure many of you know what I mean:)  Of course to celebrate his retirement, we took a relaxation trip.  All of the happenings have been great and you can bet that I’ll be sharing some of the on-goings in future blogs.  I should be back to regular posting now that we’re getting our routines coordinated.

Hi all!  Life has been full of events the past couple of weeks and as you noticed, I have been missing in action!  Finally getting some time to catch-up and today I’m sharing the baby card and a few photos of the Hello Baby Girl Project Life Album that I made for my son and daughter-in-law.  Head over to my Facebook page (Margaret Knight, Independent Stampin’ Up! With the start of a new year, I like to highlight birthday cards in the January class.  One of the cards in this past week’s class featured the Beautiful You stamp set.  When I first looked at the stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions mini-catalog, the stamp set “Beautiful You” was not a set that I planned to order…well, that changed quickly!  At the November OnStage Stampin’ Up! event, it was one of the stamp sets demonstrated.  After seeing the beautiful cards and the variety of ways the images could be used, it moved quickly to the top of the list.  Plus the stamp set has lots of great sentiments.  I love all images but the gal kicking to the side is my favorite – such a carefree, happy attitude!

Notice the floral dress…it’s a piece of Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper (DSP). Stamp the image using Archival Black onto the DSP and cut the dress following the stamped lines.  Stamp the same image on Shimmery White cardstock that has been cut with a framelit from the Lots of Labels Framelits.  Use multipurpose liquid glue to attach the floral dress to the stamped image.  The hat was colored using the Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencil and an aqua painter.  The sentiment is from the Balloon Adventures stamp set.  Layer a coordinating piece of the Affectionately Yours DSP onto Daffodil Delight cardstock base, attach the focal piece and finish embellishing with a piece of coordinating ribbon.
