It’s hard to believe that it’s October…the year seems to be flying by! The September Fall Card class was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed making cards celebrating the new season. Now planning for the October classes is underway. The focus will be on learning different folding techniques to create unique cards with movable parts. One of the cards that will be made utilizes the Circle Card Thinlits Die and since birthday cards are always needed at one time or another, I decided it would be a good theme for the first card sample…a Flip Birthday Card! When the card is opened the circle “flips” to expose the saying on the reverse side.

After a couple of rainy days, today was a beautiful Fall day. The late afternoon sky was clear with no clouds in sight. Though we had a mild Summer, the cool mornings and early evenings of Fall are wonderful. It won’t be long before the hardwood trees start their vibrant display and today’s card share is a tribute to the upcoming change of colors. It’s a Fall themed “Thank You” card.

Crushed Curry card stock was used for the base of the card. To create a tree bark effect on the background layer, Early Espresso ink
was applied to one side of the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder, next Sahara Sand card stock was inserted into the embossing
folder and it was run through the Big Shot machine. Doesn’t it look like a piece of wood? The Autumn Accents Bigz Die was used to cut Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and Old Olive card stock for the leaves. Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad and the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set was used to randomly stamp the crushed curry patterned designer series paper. Old Olive ink was also sponged along the edge of the Tangerine Tango sweater pattern of the designer series paper. The green leaf was stamped using a grunge stamp with Early Espresso and Tangerine Tango. Along the edge of the leaf, Crushed Curry was sponged to give the appearance of a leaf changing colors. To add a bit of shine to the card, an acorn was cut from Champagne Glimmer paper. The greeting was stamped with Early Espresso onto Very Vanilla card stock and cut using the large oval punch. It was then layered onto a piece of Crush Curry card stock punched with the extra large oval punch. Though it’s not clear in the photo, Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to layer the leaves and add dimension to the card.
With a feeling of Fall in the air, I’ll be making a few more cards to celebrate the change of season so be sure to check back again!

It’s a beautiful morning in Georgia and there’s a crispness in the air signaling that Fall has arrived. My plan last week was to share another Fall card for the upcoming class…well obviously, that didn’t happen. I decided to visit my parents in N.C. for the week and packed my car with my craft supplies to work on projects. As you see in the photo, the entire back of my SUV was loaded. I had enlisted my mom to assist with projects planned for a craft fair in November. So it was a surprise when we unloaded the car and started to implement our plans, to find that my stamp pads were not packed. Yes, I forgot to pack them!!! We did find a couple of stray StazOn ink pads in a box so I was able to complete one project. After laughing at my forgetfulness, we enjoyed visiting and prepping projects that can be completed now that I am home. Oh yeah, the box of ink pads was sitting on the edge of the table waiting for me when I returned.
The project that was completed is a “Color Me Christmas” Tag set that will be offered at the craft fair. When I first saw the stamp set in the Holiday catalog, I knew it would be great for creating a kit for children to color. The kit contains everything needed for children to color and complete 15 gift tags. All that I have left to do is print the labels. One project down, more to complete!!!

Today I’m taking a break from posting the Fall cards to share a card made for my friend’s birthday celebration. She loves polka dots…even has her toe nails painted with polka dots! So naturally, I had to incorporate them into her card and decided to make her a polka dot dress using the Dress Up Framelits. It’s a card she’s sure to like!

A couple more cards for the upcoming card class themed “Fall Cards” are ready! Both of the cards utilize the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (#132184) from the Holiday Catalog. All of the colors and designs in the package are great and it would be difficult for me to select a favorite. Another feature – it contains paper that would be great to use when preparing a masculine card.
The Truly Grateful Stamp Set (#131730 w, #131733 c) was used for this first card. The Soft Sky, Crushed Curry and Chocolate Chip plaid in the designer series paper provides a beautiful background.

Other materials used includes: Chocolate Chip Card Stock (#102128), Crushed Curry Card Stock (#131199), Whisper White Card Stock (#100730), Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad (#126974), Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Pad (#131173), and 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon (#132140). The ovals were cut using the Ovals Collection Framelits (#129381).
The other card is a Thanksgiving card and uses the appropriate “Happy Thanksgiving” sentiment from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set (#131820 w, #131823 c). It was cut using the Label Bracket Punch (#132153) and attached using dimensionals. In addition to the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, Tangerine Tango (#111439) and Very Vanilla (#101650) Card Stocks were used. The maple leaves were stamped using the Magnificent Maple stamp (#131868 Wood only) and Crushed Curry Classic Stampin’ Pad (#131173). To achieve the two-tone effect, the leaf edges were swiped using a Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write Marker. The larger maple leaf was cut using the Autumn Accents Bigz Dies (#127812) in the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (#113439). The paper was crumpled to achieve a textured look and attached with dimensionals.
